horse and metaphorical analysis of the fact that harry will never tie himself down to any responsibility that reminds him of his past and what his life could have been, and the craving jean has for a stable relationship that lets him know staying alive is worth it, just to know that person is safe and sound. two people who'll never be able to make each other happy but are bound in some way, can never fully quit each other, can never fully forget. maybe it's how it is, sometimes. your emotions don't match the reality of the world. and horses. animals. they're not complicated like this. they really aren't. and maybe that's all there is to it.
