It was almost strange to think about. Humanity's war against the honkai—a war that had lasted millennia, crossed generations—had finally come to an end. And now, you could look forward to a life of peace.

A life with Hua.

Before you got too lost in your thoughts, Kiana called the room to attention. You looked up to see her grinning to herself, clearly excited to finally contribute something. Hua caught your eye as she stepped offstage. You were too far away to say anything, but that didn't stop you from blowing her a kiss. She huffed, then gestured with her head to Mei, as if to say, "pay attention." Still, she couldn't keep the fond smile from her face as she took her spot off camera.

The final checks were complete. As the room fell to silence, Bronya gave the countdown.

The stream began with Mei's usual introductions. When Hua was called up onstage, the chat erupted with comments admiring her skill to those admiring… other things. You let most of the thirsty comments slide, and even occasionally egged them on. It was cute to see Hua flush when the TTS read a message she knew was from you.

Hua's eyes snapped to yours and you grinned shamelessly. Behind her, Mei frowned and shook her head. Your grin faltered under the force of both of their gazes and you slumped back into your seat with an embarrassed huff.

The chat, however, echoed your sentiment in a chorus of agreement. Spurred on by their energy, you bided your time before sending another message.

thatsmywife: I didn't quite get that part, can you explain it again? I'm a visual learner btw

You added a string of blushing emojis to the end of your message. As the TTS read it out loud, you watched Hua close her eyes and take a deep breath. You bit back a laugh. While you felt a little bad for distracting the audience, you just couldn't resist teasing her—not when she always looked so adorably flustered.

But when Hua turned to look at you, you realized you had fucked around… and were about to find out.

"If our viewers are struggling to understand…" Hua said, her voice low and dangerous. "Perhaps a more in-depth demonstration is in order."

Your eyes widened and you pointed at yourself. She gave a single nod. When you looked to Mei, she only crossed her arms and gave you a look that said, "I'm not saving you from this."

The camera had panned over to you. In a panic, you looked around the studio: Kiana smirked, Bronya gave you a deadpan look, and the rest of the crew shrugged helplessly… you were on your own.

After a bit of sputtering, you gestured to your computer. "But I'm the mod!"

Hua only raised a single eyebrow.

"Bronya can take over for a moment," she said. "Or is this not exactly what you asked for, my dear visual learner?"

You could only stare at Hua as heat rose to your cheeks. Normally, you were the one doing the teasing. So whenever Hua turned the tables on you, it left you dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the chat was losing it.

A private message from Bronya drew your attention back to your computer screen.

…before the stream window closed on its own.

You heaved a sigh and set your computer aside. Though you put up a token protest, you didn't mind at all being Hua's ragdoll for training. Whenever you could spare the time, you would show up to Hua's martial arts elective to help her with demonstrations. The students always got a kick out of it. Sometimes literally.

The camera followed you as you joined Hua onstage. She held out a hand—a gesture for you to take your place across from her—but you grinned and took her hand before leaning down to press a kiss to her knuckles. She stiffened.

You could see the chat flying by on the display set up just offstage.

DID THEY REALLY JUST DO THAT ON STREAM????? CLIP THAT CLIP THAT CLIP THAT AAAAAAA WHY CAN'T THAT BE MEEEEEE

Hua, to her credit, kept a steady voice when she spoke.

"Don't push your luck."

But she couldn't hide the faint flush on her cheeks as she pulled her hand away. You suppressed a giddy smile at her reaction. Once more, Hua gestured for you to take your place, and this time you obeyed.

You bowed to each other, then stepped back.

For a moment, you and Hua both watched the other in silence. You tried to remember what Hua had taught you—relax your body, focus your mind. You let out a breath. The lights and cameras all faded to the background, including the monitor offstage still flashing with a deluge of chat messages.

You felt the slightest shift in Hua's stance. Then, quick as a flash, she made her move.

There was enough time for you to dodge, but you let her grab you and move in for a throw. It felt like a dance, in a way—your eyes locked, her hair brushing your cheek as she leaned in close, both of you moving in tandem as Hua pushed you off balance and you fell with controlled fluidity so you didn't hurt yourself.

But the throw still knocked the breath out of you. The camera panned down to try to catch the action before zooming out to frame you, on the ground, grinning, and Hua, standing over you, composed as ever.

The chat was nearly incoherent at this point, filled with keysmashes and emojis.

THAT WAS HOT WHEN IS IT MY TURN THIS ISNT FAIR SDKGJHFDSJKGH im dead ive died ME NEXT ME NEXT PLEASEEEEEEE

And as you laid there, another TTS message played:

You burst out laughing from the floor while Hua pinched her nose in exasperation. Onscreen, the chat buzzed in response to the familiar username.

herrscher of sentience cameo??? MOD HAS COMPETITION!!!! LOVE TRIANGLE??? okay but mod has two hands ;3c

The stream was well and truly derailed now. You could almost hear Senti cackling from… wherever it was that she was watching. Hua held her hand out to help you up, but her stern gaze said, "fix this before it completely gets out of hand."

Feeling properly chastised, you took her hand and stood. As much as you wanted to see the chaos unfold, this was still Mei's stream, and you had promised to help. So you brushed yourself off before bowing to Hua with the proper form. She looked visibly relieved that you were finally being professional, and returned the bow just as gracefully.

As Mei regained control of the stream, you returned to your moderation duties. The rest of the class went smoothly, and when finally the cameras cut, you looked up to see Hua walking towards you.

"A visual learner, hm?" she said, crossing her arms. "You really have no shame. What do you have to say for yourself?"

You tried to at least look a little guilty, but it wasn't very successful. After a pause, you finally said.

"It's hot when you throw me, okay?"

She stared at you, unamused, but her eyes softened after just a moment.

"I didn't throw you too hard, did I?" she said, sounding almost guilty.

You didn't want to admit that your back was already hurting from where you fell. There was no need to make her feel worse. After all, you did ask for it… so you smiled and shook your head.

"No, I'm fine," you said. "But next time, can you do it in bed?"

Hua choked on her breath. She shot you a disapproving glare, but the threat was undercut by the flush on her cheeks.

"Go apologize to Mei," she said.

"Yes, honey…"

Luckily for you, Mei wasn't truly upset at your antics. Still, as punishment for your interference, she made you help the crew clean up after the stream. You were planning to do so anyway, and Mei probably knew that and was just going easy on you. In any case, you weren't going to complain, especially when Hua stayed to help as well. Working side by side, you were done in no time. But even so, when you stepped out of the stream room, it was into an empty hall. Afternoon sun cut through the windows into vacant classrooms, long abandoned by students for the weekend.

Hua had walked on ahead. In a few hops and skips, you caught up and tackled her in a hug from behind. She didn't even stumble in her step as she leaned forward gracefully to lift you onto her back, piggyback style. You wrapped your legs around her waist and rested your head on her shoulder.

"I love you—" you said with a small laugh. "You can embarrass me in chat tomorrow during my segment, how about that?"

Hua huffed out a breath.

"You've embarrassed yourself enough already," she said.

You let out a dramatic scoff, but your next words were interrupted when Hua gently tossed you to adjust her grip. She turned her face slightly to look at you.

"But… I love you too," she said. "And I'll be there, tomorrow."

“It's the weekend…” you said. “Do you have to?”

Hua didn't laugh, but you could hear the faint smile in her voice as she replied.

“Weekends are no excuse to skip out on training.”

In the dim light of predawn, you watched her finish tying her hair. She put a hand on her hip and tilted her head to look at you.

“Go back to sleep,” she said. “I'll be back before you wake again. Unless… you're here to join me?”

“No!”

Your response was immediate, and Hua let out a soft breath. She stepped forward and reached to cup your cheek with one hand. At this range, you could see the furrow of her brow as she scanned over your face.

“You've been losing too much sleep lately,” she said, voice stern yet clearly tinged with worry. “Like you said, it's the weekend. Rest.”

“I can't go back to sleep by myself…”

A lie, and you both knew it, but you had other ways of convincing her. You looped your arms over her shoulders and leaned to rest your chin in the crook of her neck. She easily shifted to hold you by the waist. Her breath fanned over your hair as she let out an indulgent sigh.

“Maybe some exercise will tire you out, then,” she teased.

“No!”

This time, Hua did laugh. She pulled you closer to press a light kiss to your cheek.

“Alright… just for today,” she murmured. “You know I can never say no to you.”

You hummed and snuggled into her hair, making no move to turn back to the bedroom. Hua sighed again. She knew what you were asking for.

With impressive ease, she bent to scoop your legs up from under you and held you to her chest, bridal style. You tucked your arms against your own chest as she carried you the short distance from the bathroom to the bedroom… before tossing you unceremoniously onto the bed.

The mattress bounced beneath your weight and you yelped, but your attempt to glare up at her had no effect. She merely bent down to kiss you again before crawling into bed beside you. With a sigh, you turned to bury your face in her hair once again.

“You are so mean to me,” you mumbled.

“Go to sleep,” she said, looping an arm around your waist.
