Early Voting Begins In Cobb
October 17, 2016 marked the beginning of early voting in the state of Georgia. Many residents of Cobb County are taking the opportunity to cast their ballots in advance of the November 8 general election. The Cobb County Civic Center is one of two advance voting locations that opened on October 17. Patricia Aversion, who has been working the Civic Center location since 2010, says that there has been a steady stream of early voters and that she expects the crowds to increase as we approach election day. On October 20, 2016 residents of Cobb can be seen lining up in the early morning hours to get their votes in before they start their busy days.
During the early voting period only residents of Cobb County can vote at the two advance locations. Voters are quickly ushers into the lobby of the Civic Center by election volunteers so they can fill out their early voting applications and begin to cast their election ballots.
As residents begin to go about their days, some folks are thinking about the importance of not only the obvious presidential election implications, but also the other issues and initiatives that are on this year’s state election ballot. Cobb County resident Carol Buffum wants to help get the word out about early voting. She positions herself in front of the Cobb County Civic Center on October 20, 2016 as a way to get commuters to think about turning into the parking lot and making their early vote. Despite her support for the Democratic presidential ticket, she thinks the more important thing is that people need to actual educate themselves about the local and state issues that are going to be decided by this years election process.
The early voting period extends until November 4th and counties will begin to open more locations to accommodate the increase in voting volume as the period continues. Go to the Cobb County Elections website at http://www.cobbelections.org for more information as we get closer to election day.

Anime Weekend Atlanta is a convention celebrating and promoting the art of Japanese anime and manga. Dating back to 1995 this four-day event is now ranked as the largest anime con in the Southeast and seventh largest in the country. Artists and fans coming from all over the country and the world converge on the Renaissance Waverly Hotel from September 30th to October 2nd to enjoy a variety of events, panels, concerts, and a Dealer’s Room which takes up over 72,000 square feet of space. Con attendees can peruse a vast selection of anime and manga related items from a seemingly endless number of vendors. With last year’s con hosting over 25,000 attendees, this convention has grown every year since its inception. In celebrating the history of cosplay at this convention the AWA has a gallery of some of the greatest cosplay costumes worn at previous conventions. Above, Keith, 36, and Victoria, 33, host the Anime Weekend Atlanta's Cosplay Gallery on Friday Sept. 30 2016. Both from Atlanta, Keith is in his 17th year of attending the con while Victoria is in her 8th year. Both now volunteer their time to help promote their love for anime, manga, and cosplay.

The 2016 Gwinnett Fair draws crowds from all over the metro Atlanta area. Held at the Gwinnett County Fair ground from September 15-25, 2016, the fair which draws about 200,000 attendees each year, has 54 rides, over 50 vendors serving a huge variety of food, and other unique exhibitions and events such as the King BMX show.
