And that time frame would also explain Happy looking spooked; he’d just gotten out of prison and the cops were on his tail...but they got EZ instead...

With a yawn, Kat checked the time on her phone. 10:04. She’d give it a few more minutes and then she’d head back towards the house as it looked like all the teenagers making out in the park were safe this night. Sending off a text to Chibs that patrol was a bust, she headed back towards the entrance and home.

Everything was fine until about a block or so from the house; that’s when she started to get the feeling she was being followed. And with her, being followed usually meant a demon of some kind. Ducking behind a fence, she waited, stake in hand until the right moment and then…

Normally Jax would’ve been one of those teens, having convinced Tara to take a ride with him but nothing seemed to be normal lately. He’d picked up on Kat sneaking out at night and coming up with any excuse she could to explain the random bruises. Not a one of them were something he bought and the second he found out what was up, he’d be shutting it down. 

It was a long time coming, if he was honest. Tommy had noticed the downfall of his family and was saddened by it. He had witnessed not everything, but enough to know that Jax had been set up for failure the moment their dad was gone. He hadn’t been able to do a damn thing, since Jax hadn’t been able to hear him or see him.

When he heard the crash, he looked up to see a puzzled Jax standing near him. “Brother…” Tommy said as he stood, now a grown man instead of the six year old Jax had once lost. “Hey, it’s ok… I’ve been waiting for you. It’s Tommy.”

In the moment before the crash, he’d felt free. He had the road ahead of him, wind blowing as he stayed ahead of the cops on his father’s bike. It wouldn’t be long until his club would be free of the damage he had done, his sons free of the life they’d been born into and the weight of the club on their shoulders. He’d let go of his grip and let bike drift into the other lane for the semi to plow into him. 

And then suddenly he was standing in the middle of the road as the cops screeched to a stop. His eyebrows furrowed together and he was still confused about what was going on when he heard someone call to him. It wasn’t Opie or Bobby or any of the other brothers within the club he’d lost along the way. But in the face of the man he could see bits of the six year old boy he’d been.
