FANCY FOOTWORK A single online class 15th June, 7pm to 8/8.30pm. GMT The Italian school of Classical fencing has given us a variety of steps (both offensive and counter-offensive actions). There are many advantages to incorporating these into your footwork practice. Not only will these strengthen your legs, but you can practice proper propulsion of your body through space and reinforce returning to the correct guard position. GMT Originating in the Germanic areas, the dusack was created in the 16th century as a training weapon for single edged swords, primarily the messer (the most common weapon in the area for hundreds of years). It is a short one handed weapon, designed for cutting and thrusting. In this 2 part course we will examine Joachim Meyer's Longsword and Dusack system. Beginning with fundamental Longsword guard positions, we will move into cutting with the long edge and short edge.
