Please Note:

I am a full time student. Fic requests may take some time to happen, but I’ll do my best to always get to them.

Send as many requests as you want to! Don’t worry that it’ll stress me out—I am chaotic as hell and love to work on a bunch of things at once.

Always tell me if you want a fic to have smut if you want smut in it. Occasionally, I’ll see a prompt and can figure that out on my own, but, even with those, I tend to write a sfw response as well as an nsfw response. I am perfectly fine writing M/E fics, but I don’t want to assume that somebody wants nsfw.

There are a few things I won’t write, but I’ll just respond to the ask and say so if necessary.

Specifying genre/rating can be super beneficial to me when filling requests, so feel free to add a specific rating you have in mind or things like “I’d like this story to have a lot of angst”

If you have any triggers that you don’t want to read about and worry might happen in a prompt fill, please let me know. I have anon/private messages turned on, and I don’t want to ever do anything to trigger anybody. This goes for my blog/my AO3 account in general: I will tag anything that people want tagged, no questions asked.

Jackson Avery was apparently not very good at moving on.

It wasn’t that he wanted to keep pining for April like a lost puppy, but she made it difficult. He knew that she felt something, but whatever it was was overpowered by her own guilt.

And it might be easier to end things if it wasn’t his best friend (and if he didn’t love her, but that was another can of worms). He didn’t particularly enjoy the feeling of being pulled into an on-call room and then forgotten, but he put up with it because he understood that it was about something more to her. He cared about her enough and understood her enough that he was willing to be patient.

It didn’t change the fact that he started every day telling himself that he needed to end things, and then inevitably give up as soon as he saw her.

But today would be different, he would tell her what he felt. He would be clear that he wasn’t comfortable going on with this all being so meaningless.

Song is “City of Blinding Lights” by U2! I’m going to go ahead and say that my ask box is open for spotify wrapped drabble requests again, with the understanding that some fics could pop up after next year’s spotify wrapped ends.

“Oh, you look so beautiful tonight.”

April tried her best to go to as many Catherine Fox Foundation galas as she could, but, really, how many did they have? It seemed like every other weekend was a fundraising event or exclusive dinner or ceremony.

And she only had six dresses in her closet, two of which were too casual for the event happening tonight.

And, it was worth nothing, she was really, really, really tired.

And pregnant.

Finally realizing the decision she was about to make, April closed the closet door (though she first gave a disapproving look to the pair of heels she’d have had to wear eight months ago). The mirror by her wardrobe showed the concerning state of affairs: hair that hadn’t been washed in three days, was shoved into something resembling a bun, and possibly had a crayola crayon stuck in it from a coloring mishap with Harriet earlier. Her pajamas had spots of waffle batter from last week dotted across them in an indistinguishable pattern. And, if she was being honest, she kind of smelled.

But that didn’t matter, because she was going to stay home and watch Scandal tonight.

Tiptoeing down the stairs in hopes of not running into her husband was largely unsuccessful because he immediately looked up when she started to descend.

“You look—”

“If you say I look gross, I’m going to remind you that I have been carrying around your child all day.”

“That wasn’t what I was going to say at all. You look incredible. I love your hair like that.”

“With a crayon in it?”

“I ordered Chinese food, and I have Scandal ready.”

“But what about…?”

Jackson shrugged. “It’s not my fault my mom likes throwing parties so much. There was no way we were going tonight.”

April nearly sobbed in relief. “You could have told me before I went to pick out an outfit!”

His eyes sparkled. “I asked for extra fortune cookies.”

Soooo, I promise I didn’t forget about all the spotify wrapped fics last year, it’s just that I had so many songs that were very decidedly not good for inspiration. I went through the list again this year, and a few of the prompts were really fitting for japril! This one is inspired by “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” by Daryl Hall & John Oates.

“‘Cause I ain’t the way you found me, and I’ll never be the same.”

“How long do you think we have?”

“Before somebody interrupts us?” April made a quick calculation in her mind and decided, “Three minutes.”

The puffy white dress was taking up most of the supply closet they’d crammed themselves into at the much-too-fancy venue that Catherine had insisted upon. Jackson smiled down at her, offering her one of the champagne flutes in his hand. In exchange, she offered up a plate of hors d'oeuvres that she’d managed to snatch in between congratulations.

“You got a mini quiche before they were gone?”

“Yes, though it may have been stolen from Owen’s plate. He washes his hands though, we’re good.” April started to gulp down the champagne.

“Hey, wait, I was going to make a toast.”

“We don’t have time for that. We barely have time for snacks as it is.”

They weren’t going to take a honeymoon; they didn’t want to be away from their daughter, even though they hadn’t really had one the first time around. It looked like with their schedules that they might manage a single weekend in a few months, but eating hors d'oeuvres in a supply cabinet was quite possibly the only moment they were going to get alone for a while. (Outside of their wedding night, which Harriet would be at grandma’s house for.)

“I’m sure you remember this, but do you realize how much I’ve changed for the better since meeting you?” Jackson asked, his expression softening. “When we met, I never would have expected the life that we have now, but every day I’m so grateful for it.”

“I’m not the person you first met, either,” April pointed out. “And it’s the same for me. Think about how much we’ll change in the future. We have no idea what’s coming for us.”

“And that’s kind of exciting, isn’t it? Not knowing, but knowing there are many good things ahead?”
