Where does this whole ‘Maverick is a lady killer’ thing come from? Carol is the only one to talk about Mav having lots of girlfriends. But Mav doesn’t pay attention to any other women in the whole movie and the only one he mentions is Penny Benjamin (who we now know he had a long lasting relationship - romantic or friendship - with)

But Goose has to tell to pick up a woman this time, he picks the only woman on the bar who is quite clearly NOT there to pull a pilot and he admits he’s tried the singing seduction thing twice and it failed completely before.

Anyway. Maverick projects this image of a careless and cocky daredevil but he’s also kind and supportive and thoughtful and gentle and that’s the Mav Ice falls for when he finally sees it.
