Naruto has been fighting a war for the life of his neighborhood for the past four years, with no end in sight. His world is violent, arbitrary, and ruthless, but it is simple. It makes sense. And then Uchiha Sasuke fucks everything up. SN EXCHANGE FIC. 35k.
Written for the 2010 SN Exchange, this fic is what I would call an oldie but goodie. It was the very first modern au I read that felt like the characters had been lifted from canon and translated early shippuden canon events seamlessly into the modern era.

He just needs to get a picture of someone so ridiculously hot she will know it’s hopeless. He actually has someone in mind, a guy he’d had a one-sided thing for from his gym. Although, the guy is sort of an ass and probably wouldn’t agree to posing for a picture. Naruto decides to ask him anyway. What’s he got to lose? 4k.

Locker Room Therapy ‘verse by Asuka Kureru (Askerian)
The first fic is a standalone, gritty look at the aftermath of Naruto’s kidnapping by his psychopathic uncle Kyuubi, Minato’s twin brother, and Sasuke’s reaction to it when Naruto returns to school.
The rest are low-pressure fallout ficlets about various issues (some repercussions from the kidnapping, but mostly coming out and dating) because this is the only schoolfic I ever, ever want to write for the Naruto fandom, and I rarely feel like such heavy angst. 6 works and 13k in total.
Yet another oldie but goodie. First installment is intense but kinda sweet, and the rest are mostly fluffy.

Another fandom classic - actually, arguably one of THE fandom classics. The only reason it’s not a personal favourite is because I’m not a big fan of infidelity (Sasuke cheats on Sakura with Naruto, though you can argue that he cheats on Naruto with Sakura…). I’m also not a fan of the way Sakura is written here. If you can stomach these things though, take a chance on this fic. It’s a classic for a reason.
