Jane looked at her friend quizzically, her head cocked to the side as she tried to figure out whether Clint was joking or not. Well, there was only one way she was going to figure it out. "Are you joking? What are you, a bird?" Jane laughed loudly at her joke and punched Clint lightly on the arm.

He shook his head some and smiled. âCouch is fine, really.â Hell of a lot better than where I have been sleeping. What he said and what he thought were entirely different, and maybe keeping more of the dark horrors of his life was better.Â
"Thanks for offering a place." A week should be enough time to find a different place, other than another damn homeless shelter. The archer seriously needed to start verbalizing what he was thinking, give her a better idea of what he was going through, but that didnât mean he would.Â
Although he still chuckled at her last statement. âNothinâ with you is weird, Jay-bird.â
"Well then, I'd better get the couch set up!" said Jane as she walked toward her bedroom. She opened her closet and grabbed a pillow and a few sheets, and carried them into the living room. "Oh, just wait until I tell Erik about this, he'll be thrilled!"
Jane tucked the sheets into the couch and the straightened up, her hands resting on her hips. "Sorry it's not the most comfortable thing ever, but it's something."

Blue eyes widened and he blinked a few times to clear up the confusion, wrapping one arm around her waist while the other held the glass away; keeping it from getting damaged.Â
He was only going to be in town for a few days unless he could pick up a job and a place to stay, then he would be back. But without a brother or family in general he was homeless. Stealing to even get by. But instead of telling her that he set the glass down on the counter and wrapped his other arm around her waist, nuzzling into her hair.
Jane took his silence as a confirmation, mostly because she was too afraid to think otherwise, to lose him again. Reluctantly, she let go of her friends, smiling widely as she spoke. "You could stay with me until you find a place of your own," suggested Jane, speaking at about a million miles a minute. "I know it's not a big place, but the couch is really comfortable. I mean, even if couches aren't really your thing, my bed is definitely big enough for two - at least for a week or so."Â
Suddenly she stopped, backtracking while her face turned a deep shade of pink. "Unless that's weird. Because it is. It's totally weird isn't it."

The archer chuckled at the memory and the new analogy and shook his head some. Staying young forever would mean when he was eleven, before his brother started to become hella distant. âOnly weâd actually be the robbers.â
With a slight smile he took the glass and looked down at the swirling liquid. âCoulda been worse.â He shrugged and downed the whiskey in one drink. The alcohol stung his throat and numbed his mind slightly, helping push back some of the issues he was having. âIf I ever find him.âÂ
"Alright, let's change the subject to something a little brighter - like, how long are you in town? Wait, you're not moving back are you?" asked Jane, her eyes widening in excitement. "Oh God, I'm so glad you're back!" Jane jumped into Clint's arms, throwing hers around his neck, completely forgetting about the glass of whiskey he held in his hand.

She saw his point, but she wouldn't tell Clint that. "Why not? It could've been just like old times, playing cops and robbers in the street outside my house. Only we would have been driving real cars instead of bicycles!" laughed Jane as she poured him a tumbler full of whiskey. When she turned back to face him, her smile fell. "I'm sorry you had such a rough time, Clint. I wish we could've stayed young forever."
Jane handed him the glass and ran a hand through her hair. "When you find your brother, you let me know, okay? I owe him a punch in the face"
"Only good things, I hope," laughed Jane, tucking her hair behind her ears. "Well anyway, here I am - the brains behind the brawn! But who exactly are you?â
"Like anyone would have the guts tâ talk badly about a gods lady." Ian teased before he nodded his head. "But yes, plenty good things, lass." He took the cigarette out of his mouth and flicked it away before offering Jane his hand with a grin. "Iâm agent Ian McCarthy."
Jane thought for a moment, trying to remember if she had ever heard that name before, or even seen him in passing. "Are you new? I don't think I've seen you around these parts before," she said with a wink.
