I don’t know if anyone has ever done this before but, here ya go… The Different Types of Fanfiction!
I probably left a few out, but these are the most common, compared to their base fiction’s canon plot. Enjoy! XD
The crack fic is enough for a reblog.
then there are these favs…. ;)
always reblog
Um yes this is genius.
And then there’s whatever I’m doing:
Lmao so true though😆
Something about this reminds me strongly of diagramming sentences during English classes, but more fun of course :D
That was what inspired this 😊
Member Fic: Playing Doctor (Chapter 1)
A brand new chapter of a multi-chapter fic shared on behalf of Elena's Harem of Mikaelsons Discord author @anara-wilde
Title: Playing Doctor (Chapter 1) Author: AnaraWilde | @anara-wilde Posted: October 31, 2024 Chapters: 1/? | Words: 2,000/?
Summary: Elena Gilbert isn't a grieving, lovesick, vamp-bait teenager anymore. She's been sacrificed by the Original Hybrid, murdered by an Original Vampire, turned into an undead bloodsucker herself, and somehow managed to come out of all that far, far away from Mystic Falls human, with a ton of student debt, a medical license, and a boss who looks uncannily like Elijah Mikaelson's doppleganger.
That last part is the universe just fucking with her. Again.

I’m back in my Klena and Elejah phase I’m running out of things to read this is hurting me and I’m genuinely going insane about it
Elijah realizing its Elena and not katherine, meaning this is his chance to finally kiss her.

she finds another way; she finds again her best weapon.
(S4 AU where Elena finds someone else to help her with the sire bond; warnings for consent issues that go with the sire bond, and character death)
Elena fighting her sire bond by dreamwalking into Elijah's dreams for help.
Always & Forever - by @anphibole
Looking up at the intimidating walls of the infamous Abattoir, Elena kept those words close to her heart, like a talisman against the dangers she knew lurked inside.
She took one step, then another, forcing her legs to move despite the fear. She knew she couldn’t stay the way she was, alone and scared. She knew who she could trust.
She always had.
Elena shows up in New Orleans to see Elijah and get his help (and poor Diego almost gets a scare of a lifetime because that is not a newby fledge he should try to pull a fang-measuring contest on). It's eeexcceellent!
I Ain't Letting Up Until The Day I Die - by @sunless-garden
Another way the infamous gazebo scene in American Gothic (4x18) could have gone.
An excellent canon divergent fic of this episode.
It's Personal 🌶️🌶️🌶️- by @missnmikaelson
Blood Sharing is a personal thing. She never understood how personal until she journeyed to New Orleans.
Elijah's got his humanity off so someone sends Elena as a Hail Mary. Very very spicy.
too busy being yours to fall for somebody new - by @vorpalmuchness
Elijah finds Elena in his apartment, unable to leave until she tells him something, courtesy of Rebekah
Utterly hilarious! "I live in this box now." lives in my head rent-free, and probably always will.
We Remain - by @ao-anonymousobsesser
“I missed you,” he murmured.
She opened her mouth to return his sentiment, expression already shifting into that perfect Katherine attitude, but her throat closed around the words.
She couldn’t close the door fast enough.
(Canon Divergence from The Kiss 4x18)
Amazing fic. I've reread the first 3 chapters multiple times. I think this was one of the stories that pulled me back into writing for Elejah after a six year pause actually.
You've Put a Spell On Me 🌶️ - by @katherineholmes
A one shot based on the August 2022 prompt challenge.
Prompt - Teachers
When Elena transforms, her odd feeding habits have her calling the one person she trusts to help her - a certain noble Mikaelson brother.
Elijah has the experience and Elena is a willing, if a little desperate, student.
Set in season 4
Elena calling Elijah after her transformation because of the whole can't feed except straight from the source thing. Maybe my two favorite things about this is the way now that she's a vampire Elijah's interest in her is very blatant and the way the vampires at the fancy vampire restaurant stare at him and Elena because clearly Elijah doesn't make it a habit to show up there with a woman.
to know the sin was yours - by @amandamonroe
At the sound of desperate knocking, the Beast swung the red stained door open with a flourish, and the man on the other side practically fell in.
"I killed her," Elijah mumbled. "It was me, I... I killed Tatia."
The blood Esther took from Elena for her champagne spell has an effect that no one saw coming. Well, someone saw it coming. But since when does Elijah ever listen to his Beast?
Really interesting take on an Elijah with a split personality. Where both sides of him have a thing for Elena, except the Beast is wayyy less shy about it. It's delicious.
I Will Hold You Through the Storm - by @moonysmate
"Allow me to slip into something more... comfortable before we discuss this new predicament."
"Are you wearing a suit?"
..
Elena can't let him die. And she won't, it's just a bit difficult to concentrate on his mother's murder plot when his definition of comfortable is so obviously different from her own.
Absolutely excellent take on Elena choosing to tell Elijah about his mother's betrayal at the ball. So much sizzling chemistry and tension.
A Year to Eternity? - by @missnmikaelson
Original vampires, malicious witches, lost supernaturals, missing memories and ancient curses… it’s just another year in the life for Elena Gilbert. Never mind the fact that she was supposed to be done with Originals and malicious witches and all the rest.
She could have been done, but being done required saying no and saying no was not an option. There was too much to lose.
Picking up in 5x12 of the Originals.
Elijah goes to say goodbye to Elena before the stupid canon double suicide. Caroline tells Klaus to fuck off with that whole plan. Includes delicious Elijah pining. As well as the most hilarious line maybe ever:
"To seal the Hollow away we need the willing support of Elena Gilbert." Amusement sparkled in his eyes. "I'm asking about your knees, Nik, because you're about to grovel on them."
Letters - by @vorpalmuchness
Elena writes love letters and undaggers Elijah before 3x11. Things get complicated.
Very 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before' coded (in the best way). And this bit here might be my favorite paragraph in the whole fic.
Elijah is surprisingly hard to write to. Despite the fact she's already written three of these letters, this is the only one where the relationship isn't over in her eyes. It might be foolish to hope and maybe she'll be the one rejected this time. There's just something about the understanding they have between them, the way he knows what she's saying and knows the importance of what she isn't saying, and the way she finds herself enchanted with him. It all spills out easily and she almost smears the ink more than once in her urgency. It's everything she's ever wanted to say to his face but has never wanted to risk it. She's not brave enough in this. Facing his mother who wanted her dead a few months ago was surprisingly easier.
what did you bury? - by @jennifersminds
She wants to, in a way. Wants to bury herself in the ground, deep in the woods he’d once walked her through and wait for him to dig her out.
He would.
She can picture it, jacket discarded, dirt under his nails- the desperation he quietly saves for her.
The obligatory American Gothic fic
Elena leaves Willoughby with Elijah and Rebekah instead of the Salvatores. Includes the absolutely perfect scene of Elena telling Elijah about the sire bond and him just hitting the brakes. Love it.
I mean I would really love me an Elejah ship edit if you don't mind
Dark Elijah/Elena, lack of humanity and the red door swinging open, they'll certainly find a way through it all as they get themselves back to their 'human' selves.
Human. It's impossible. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES 2.08 "Rose"
THE FRENCH QUARTER — WHERE DAMON’S DELUSIONS GO TO DIE.
Imagine : Damon Salvatore was convinced — convinced — that Elena Gilbert was still in Mystic Falls, pining for him, waiting for him, dreaming about him, writing his name in a diary with little hearts around it.
He strutted down Main Street like a man returning to claim his long‑lost love.
Except… Elena wasn’t there.
Hadn’t been for months.
And Damon, in true Damon fashion, didn’t bother to check.
Because why would he? In his mind, Elena Gilbert was still his girl.
---
Meanwhile… in New Orleans
The Abattoir stood tall and ancient in the French Quarter, its iron gates open to the warm morning air. Inside, sunlight spilled across the courtyard, catching on the soft curve of Elena’s three‑month baby bump as she sat on a cushioned bench, sipping tea.
She rested a hand on her stomach — their child. Due in November. A tiny life that already had Elijah Mikaelson’s quiet strength and Elena’s stubborn heart.
Elijah stepped behind her, placing a steady hand on her shoulder. Calm. Protective. Dangerous in that silent, elegant way that made even Klaus raise an eyebrow sometimes.
He leaned down, voice low and warm.
“You should rest. You’re carrying precious cargo.”
Elena smiled, rolling her eyes affectionately.
“I’m pregnant, not fragile.”
Elijah’s lips curved — that rare, private smile he only ever gave her.
“You are both.”
He brushed his fingers over her bump, and the baby kicked lightly, as if agreeing.
Elena laughed softly.
Damon Salvatore had not crossed her mind in months.
---
Back in Mystic Falls… Damon’s Reality Cracks
Damon finally noticed Elena’s house was empty.
No clothes.
No shoes.
No diary.
No Elena.
He frowned.
“Huh. Weird. She must be… visiting someone.”
But then he found the mail.
Forwarded.
To New Orleans.
To an address he recognized.
The Abattoir.
Damon’s face dropped.
“Oh hell no.”
---
The Abattoir — Damon Walks Into a Wall of Reality
Damon stormed into the French Quarter like a man on a mission, muttering to himself.
“She’s confused. She’s under a spell. She’s kidnapped. She’s—”
He froze.
Because there she was.
Elena.
Glowing. Peaceful. Laughing.
And visibly pregnant.
Elijah stood beside her, one hand resting on her bump, the other tucked behind his back like the composed menace he was.
Damon blinked.
Then blinked again.
“Elena… what… what is that?”
Elena raised an eyebrow.
“A baby, Damon.”
“Yeah, I got that part! But… whose?”
Elijah stepped forward, expression calm but eyes sharp enough to cut stone.
“Mine.”
Damon’s soul left his body.
“Yours? YOURS? You— you threw a pencil at me!”
Elijah tilted his head.
“And I will do so again if necessary.”
Elena sighed, rubbing her belly.
“Damon, I’m not in Mystic Falls. I’m not in love with you. I’m not thinking about you. I’m building a life here. With Elijah. With our baby.”
Damon opened his mouth.
Closed it.
Opened it again.
Nothing came out.
For the first time in centuries, Damon Salvatore had no words.
---
Elijah’s Final Blow
Elijah stepped behind Elena, hands resting protectively on her shoulders.
“You should go, Damon. Elena needs peace. Stress is not good for the child.”
Damon pointed at Elijah, sputtering.
“You— you’re older than dirt!”
Elijah smiled politely.
“And yet, somehow, still more mature than you.”
Damon backed away slowly.
Defeated.
Confused.
Utterly, completely replaced.
---
Elena’s New Life
As Damon disappeared down the street, Elena leaned into Elijah’s chest, his arms wrapping around her.
“You okay?” he murmured.
She nodded.
“I’m exactly where I want to be.”
Elijah kissed the top of her head.
“And you always will be.”
Their child kicked again — a tiny reminder that Elena Gilbert’s future was no longer tied to Mystic Falls… or Damon Salvatore.
It belonged here.
In New Orleans.
With Elijah Mikaelson.
The man she loved.
The father of her child.
The one she chose.
A FEW DAYS LATER — MYSTIC FALLS, WHERE DAMON’S DELUSIONS THRIVE
Damon sat at the bar of the empty Mystic Grill, swirling a glass of bourbon like it held the answers to life.
The Grill was closed.
The lights were off.
The chairs were stacked.
But Damon? Damon was committed to the bit.
“She’s joking,” he muttered to himself.
“It’s an April Fools prank. A late one. A very late one. Elena loves jokes. She’s hilarious. She’s probably laughing right now.”
He checked the date.
It was May.
He ignored that.
“She’s just messing with me. She’ll walk in any minute. Pregnant? With Elijah’s kid? Please. Elena would never—”
His phone buzzed.
A photo.
Sent by Caroline.
A photo of Elena in New Orleans.
At the Abattoir.
Sitting at a long wooden table with a plate so massive it looked like a medieval feast.
Ziti with oil and garlic.
Pesto pasta.
Sausage and peppers.
A basket of bread.
Garlic bread.
More bread.
Calories? Damon didn’t even want to think about it.
Elena was smiling.
Elijah was sitting beside her, napkin folded neatly, hand resting on her chair like she was the most precious thing in the world.
Damon zoomed in.
Elena’s bump was unmistakable.
He zoomed in more.
Elijah was cutting her sausage for her.
He zoomed in further.
Elijah looked directly at the camera.
Like he knew Damon would see it.
Damon dropped his phone.
“No. Nope. Absolutely not. This is fake. Deepfake. Photoshop. AI. Witchcraft. Something.”
He stood up, pacing.
“Elena hates pesto. She told me once. In 2012. She said it tasted like grass. She wouldn’t eat pesto unless—”
He froze.
Unless she was pregnant.
Unless she was craving everything.
Unless she was eating for two.
Unless she was eating for Elijah Mikaelson’s child.
Damon’s eye twitched.
“No. No. No. She’s pranking me. She’s pranking me so hard. This is the longest April Fools joke in history.”
He sat back down.
He poured more bourbon.
He drank it.
He poured more.
He drank that too.
“She’ll come back. She always comes back.”
But the truth was settling in, heavy and undeniable:
Elena wasn’t coming back.
She wasn’t thinking about him.
She wasn’t joking.
She was in New Orleans, eating enough carbs to power a small army, glowing, happy, and carrying Elijah Mikaelson’s baby.
And Damon?
Damon was alone in a closed bar, arguing with a calendar.
THE ABATTOIR — PLATE FOUR, AND ELENA IS STILL GOING
The courtyard of the Abattoir was warm with late‑morning sunlight, the kind that made the French Quarter feel alive. Birds chirped. Jazz drifted faintly from a distant street.
And at the center of it all sat Elena Mikaelson‑Gilbert, three months pregnant, absolutely demolishing her fourth plate of food.
Not a normal plate.
A Mikaelson‑sized plate.
A mountain of:
• Ziti with oil and garlic
• Pesto pasta
• Sausage and peppers
• All piled together like a carb‑lover’s fever dream
• With a basket of bread
• And garlic bread stacked like a tower beside her
Calories?
Let’s just say the baby was eating like it planned to bench‑press Elijah by November.
Elena stabbed a piece of sausage, dipped it into pesto, and took a blissful bite.
“Oh my god,” she groaned softly.
“This is heaven.”
Elijah stood nearby, arms folded, watching her with that serene, quietly amused expression he reserved only for her.
“You know,” he said, voice smooth as silk, “most humans would have stopped after the first plate.”
Elena didn’t even look up.
“I’m not most humans. I’m pregnant with your child. I’m starving.”
Elijah’s lips twitched — the closest he ever got to a grin.
“I’m aware.”
He stepped behind her, resting a hand on her shoulder, thumb brushing lightly against her collarbone. Protective. Proud. A little smug.
“Eat as much as you need. Our child is… enthusiastic.”
As if on cue, the baby kicked.
Elena laughed, hand flying to her bump.
“See? They want more.”
Elijah leaned down, whispering near her ear.
“Then more you shall have.”
He signaled to a passing server — because of course the Mikaelsons had servers — and gestured toward the emptying plate.
“Another.”
The server blinked.
“Another… full plate, sir?”
Elijah nodded calmly.
“Yes. The same. And more bread.”
Elena beamed.
The server hurried away like his life depended on it.
---
✦ Meanwhile… Damon Would Actually Pass Out If He Saw This
If Damon could see Elena right now — glowing, laughing, eating her fourth plate of Italian food like a queen — he would spontaneously combust.
He’d probably say something like:
“Elena, what the hell? That’s like 4,000 calories!”
And Elena would shrug, mouth full of garlic bread.
“Baby’s hungry.”
Elijah would raise a brow.
“As am I.”
Damon would faint.
But Damon wasn’t here.
He was in Mystic Falls, arguing with a calendar.
Elena?
Elena was in New Orleans, living her best life, surrounded by food, love, and the calm, dangerous Original who adored her.
