“No, no, they’re not roughing me up or anything. It’s just hard to really break into a boy’s club, y’know? You just gotta keep paying your dues. We should do something together though this weekend.”

“Better not be. Or I’ll come after them with my pepper spray. I get it...I wish there was something else you could do. Something safer with less jerks. And we should. We could go see a movie? Maybe sit in the back so we can hold hands. Maybe even a little more than that...” 

“I know… I’m sorry I haven’t been around so much. I’m just trying to work everything out with the Boys and all that… I’ve missed you too.”

“It’s okay. You’re here now, that’s what matters to me. How is that going? They’re not giving you too rough of a time, are they?” 

Yeah, I’m okay now… but thank you. It’s nice to be worried about. Especially by you.

“I’m glad. But, really, if something ever happens, I’m here, y’know? And it’s nice you like it.” Jamie reached out and threaded their fingers together. “I’ve missed you, it feels like we haven’t gotten a second alone in awhile.”

If, God bless us fucking all, we get a snow day Monday, who wants to hit Frog Pond with me?

“I think you just missed him,” Sam said, crossing his arms and leaning against the door. He actually wasn’t sure if Rory was home or not, but just letting her in felt pretty sketchy. Besides, he didn’t want to get on Rory’s bad side by letting a girl he, as far as Sam knew, didn’t even know.

“And why exactly do you need to see him?” he asked, curiosity getting the best of him.

If it were even possible, Jamie’s face fell even further. “Are you sure? Do you know when he’ll be back?” Sometimes Rory seemed like he wasn’t there, but was just hiding in his room with his music on blast. Running a hand through her hair, she tried not to get upset. Usually she was better at keeping herself together. With Rory’s absence, it was difficult to do that. 

Yeah, I’m okay. I just got a nosebleed. I think it was because I had a cold.

You don’t have to worry about me so much… but thank you for doing it anyway.

I could have come over with soup if I had known you had a cold. 

Anyone know how to get blood out of a shirt?

Normally Sam didn’t like hanging around at the Sullivan’s place, let alone spending the night, but after nearly a month of not seeing Jonny due to schedule conflicts, he broke down and went over to check if he could find him. Luckily enough he did. By the time the two were finished talking it was far too cold out for Sam to walk home, so he spent the night on the couch.

Once he woke up he didn’t spend much time lying on the couch, and instead gathered his things and quickly made to leave the house. He was greeted by a surprise once he opened the door to leave, the mayor’s daughter. What the hell was the mayor’s daughter doing at the Sullivan’s? “Um, hey. You sure you’re in the right place?”

Everything was a mess for Jamie since her fight with Rory. They’d never gone this long without talking before. He wouldn’t even look at her in the hallways, or respond to her texts, or answer her calls. Her best friend had cut her off completely, and it was unbearable. She had to fix this, but to fix it, she had to get Rory to talk to her. 

After exhausting every long distance option she had, she decided to go to his house. There was no way he could avoid her there. He’d have to open the door sometime, at least, she hoped so. She was on the porch, about to knock, when the door opened. “Ro-” she started, relief evident in her voice. It faltered and dropped as she saw someone who was not Rory. She could lie and say she was at the wrong place, but she had to talk to Rory. “I am in the right place,” she told the stranger. “I came here to see Rory. Let me in.” She bit her lip, before adding on, “Please, I need to see him.” 

Shit dude, that’s great to hear. I think I… kinda get what you mean.

I’ve been seeing someone too, so… yeah, I definitely get what you mean.

Oh my gosh, really? Wait, is it that guy you told me about awhile back? You weren’t sure if he was like, into you, into you. 

“You know I don’t give a shit that you’re a lesbian or whatever, right? That’s, like, super cool with me. You know you can tell me anything? You could have fucking told me you liked her, instead of lying to me. I tell you everything and you lied to me.”

“I...I didn’t know that. I wasn’t sure. And you know it’s not always easy for me to talk about everything. My dad...And I just don’t wanna burden you with that. How did I lie?I mean, I never told you, but, I never said I wasn’t dating her! I didn’t hide this to hurt you. I knew I couldn’t keep it in forever, though, so it’s why I told you, cause I trust you.” 

I’m doing good. I guess I’ve just been getting distracted. Sorry I’ve been away so much. All the more reason we should get together. How are you doin’?

It’s alright. What’s been distracting you? And honestly. I’m doing good...Great. It’s been really good, just not having to do cheer anymore, and...Y’know with Cecile. We had our first official date at the bonfire, and it was just...Incredible. I was able to hold her hand and kiss her cheek and stuff. I get butterflies just thinking about it and her. 

“Oh uh, right, sure,” ze took a seat at the nearby bench.

“Never thought a willingly let someone stab me with a needle,” ze laughed.

Jamie stood next to the bench, debating whether she should sit or not to do this. She decided on standing. 

“What the fuck. No. That’s not true. You’re lying to me. It’s not true. My Boys? They tell me if they’re fucking my best friend. And my best friend? She tells me if she’s fucking my Boys. Or she would, if she actually were my friend.”

Jamie’s face fell. “Rory--Don’t be like that. I’m not lying to you. And I’m not-I’m not fucking her, I’m dating her. I didn’t say anything cause I was scared, and it was still really new. I--I didn’t know how you’d react. I couldn’t lose my best friend. You’re one of the few things I love about my life, and I don’t know who I’d be without you. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything til now, you gotta understand.” 

Hey, man, I’m down for that it y’all are. 

Just say the time and place and I’ll be there.

I’ll talk to Rory about it, since I’m sure he’ll be for sitting around and getting drunk and eating candy.
