McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 (Japan Air System, JA8551, Contri on Flickr), Taken unknown. - it was later repainted with a special livery and was dubbed the "Peter Pan Flight"

this plane went on to be sold alongside JAS's other DC-10 to Northwest Airlines in 2000 (reregistered as N244NW), then sold again to Omni Air (again re-registered as N531AX), before being scrapped in 2016.

It's sibling, JA8550, would go on to operate for Harlequin Air, JAS' subsidiary airline for a while, before they would of course be sold to Northwest Airlines.

8550 however, has a happy ending: it's currently still in active service as a Fire Tanker plane, and will likely remain that way for years to come.

This plane has actually been only documented publicly once while still in operation by JAL in that livery for the airline (October 10th, 1971, Mr. Hummingbird, FlyTeam.jp), the rest of the photos of JA8002 were of the old livery.

in future uses of JA8002, the plane would be stripped of it's JAL colors and flown exclusively in a rough bare metal silver look
