6,520 days later.

In front of the screen down in my room where I escaped reality.

 One by one the demons fell, were they mine?

The quest was interrupted by a voice, two voices.

One said you might die tonight.

The resistance released.

Something in their voices pulled me out to the car.

 A journey through the night took me there.

To a large building that felt empty and cold.

Just as I felt.

 I was drawn further into the hallways.

Which door was yours?

The maze ended, I was there.

 An uncertain leap over the first threshold.

Tried to wash away the fear from my hands.

Obliviousness washed away instead.

 The second threshold was higher than the first.

I managed to climb over.

There you were.

Time stood still and it was only you and me.

Were you waiting for me?

 I sat down next to you.

Your shell was lifeless, but you remained.

Your eyes stared straight up to the ceiling.

But I saw the way you looked at me.

I held your hand tight, you said nothing.

But I heard every word.

 I forgave you.

Let go of your hand, said goodbye.

Swallowed the grief, locked it into the future.

 I sat down some distance away.

Witnessed the sand running out of her hands.

The last thing I remember is a devastated face.

Mother's face.

 I didn’t know it then. I now it know.

What you said was your way to protect me.

I didn’t say it then. I say it now.

A project I'm currently working on, it's about my father who passed away 2010. Our relationship was rocky, he was ashamed of me ever since he found out that I was gay. It led to a point where I stopped calling him my father (pappa). Today I know that all he did was trying to protect me, and I know that he would support me if he was here now.
