BIOGRAPHY:
The boy from the wrong side of the tracks who saw too many of the things he shouldnât have and heard too many shots being fired before the age of five. His side of the world was the part no one liked to talk about. With battered down homes, peeling paint and shingles falling from roofs. And owners who were overworked and couldnât care how their lawns were becoming brown. Jacob Boyd doesnât much care to speak of his home life amongst his peers - but who wants to explain the part where heâs had to cover up his window with cardboard and duct tape because they couldnât afford to get a new pane of glass. No one wants to be bothered with depressing conversations over how many times this month heâs heard gun shots. No one really cares because theyâre all too wrapped up in their own lives. Which is fine, because he is too. Growing up wasnât great. But when is growing up ever great when you learn that you took all those nap times for granted and when half of your day is recess becomes spending a majority of your hours stuck inside of a classroom. Jacob dealt with parents who werenât home often - not because they wanted to be gone but because they had to be. To put a roof over their heads and pay the water bill for the month meant his mother having three jobs and his pop working two. One day job, a night job. His mom gone on the weekends. Sometimes he wondered how they still found energy to fight one another. Not that they had a choice to leave one another, instead they found happiness at the bottom of a bottle and in other people. The brunet didnât stick around on those nights. Those kind of nights he found his own happiness at the local park bench - because anything was better than listening to two drunks fight and throw glass bottles at the walls. You know whatâs worse than going through puberty? The years before that when some people mistake you as a girl because your voice is still dangerously high and somehow your dream worlds arenât just dreams. Suddenly youâre waking up and walking around something straight out of Where The Wild Things Are. Right - that doesnât just happen to anyone but Jacob. None of it made sense until the age of six, not even then did it make much sense, but the third Harry Potter movie had just been released and his parents were having another night of their fights. Curled up into a ball on his bed and a pillow he shoved onto his face to try and block out the noise, the boy just remembered everything stopping for a few seconds. No screams. No glass being shattered. His puffy eyes opening and in front of him, the halls of Hogwarts instead of his tiny white walled room. With wide eyes, he sprang from his bed only to watch it all disappear. He knew this couldnât be a dream - he was wide awake. The bruising from how much he pinched himself were proof at the time. But his parents wouldnât believe him, theyâd laugh in his face or pat him on his head. Say his imagination was adorable. Hey, at least he had somewhere to go before he found the park bench. Even if he could only stay for a few minutes at a time. High school became a different story with whom Jacob Boyd came to be over the years. His transportative ways to different worlds were able to last longer but that wasnât where things stopped. He grew up and so did his so called âpowersâ. Like he lived in a goddamn comic book and belonged to Marvel. Teachers were used as test subjects and some ended up getting fired for insanity. Police coming to handcuff them because they might be a danger to the children. Shouting out like the witnesses of a Salem Witch Trial, asking if anyone else could smell that. Hear that. See what they were seeing and the students in a laughing fit. At least heâs comforted by the fact that heâs not alone in the world - that as cheesy and cliche as it sounds, there are others in this city like him. Maybe he should give up on the idea of becoming the next great poet and write a series of The Gifted Twelve. Get Marvelâs attention and show them a real superhero.
TRAITS:
+ fearless, witty, passionate - impulsive, reckless, unadaptable
CONNECTIONS:
Jenny Cassidy - Heâs caught her a few times in parties where thereâs been some white powder under her nose, and he is not fooled at all by her good girl act. Also, they have hooked up a few times, but heâd never kiss and tell. Heâs not too sure if its just a fling or if he wants more. Commitment has never been his forte.
Ethan Quinn - Jacobâs not a fan of the vibe he gets from Ethan, he thinks the kid needs to loosen up a bit. So he has more or less taken Ethan under his wing to show him the wonders of having powers as well as the truth behind their little suburban hell.
Matthew Meade - His closest friend out of the bunch, theyâre very much alike Matthewâs sister and Cameron. Except, everything is probably ten times more worse when theyâre together. A boy who can make his tattoos move and a boy who can disappear in the blink of an eye, what could possibly go wrong?
Chelsea Sullivan - She confuses him. Sometimes he sees her all bubbly and preppy, other times sheâs as quiet as still water. Theyâve only talked a few times, but he wants to know what goes on in her head.
