he felt like standing up and running away, preferably to a different continent. the only person who could possibly rank worse than him in helping people with feelings was florian. jacob wasn’t as close to korinna to just hug and make her feel better -- until two hours ago he’d probably torch her hair if anything. her tone of voice and comments made him feel uneasy. it didn’t bring him any satisfaction seeing her vulnerable and upset. even if unconsciously, jacob kept his little charade with korinna because she was always up to speed and a worthy opponent. “you’re our friend so you know the different problems we all have here. florian can’t grasp basic human contact, lorenzo is just dumb at this point, mia has hundreds of men going after her and she’s making a fool out of herself going after the only one who doesn’t, i can’t help but feel suffocated by all of this sometimes, morgana is so naive sometimes i’m scared of the world breaking her into two, and vienna is just a mess in more ways than one.” brushing some hair away from his forehead, jacob fixed his gaze on her. “what i’m trying to say is that we all have problems and things that makes us less cool or whatever, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to be here and be friends with each other. you have to snap out of it.” the last sentence came out harsher than he meant to, but it came from a place of care. “we might know people outside of this but at the end of the day, we only have each other. i sound like ece now but i think we have a lot to learn from each other. i know i have a lot to learn from you.” 

It was good to have a day without the constant pappazaris on their back or even people following the pair. Morgana loves the band and working on their projects but she loves Jacob so much more. It was clear in her eyes that she was feeling anxious while changing her clothes and choosing the bottle of his favorite wine when she walked between the bedrooms. She didn't know if the rest of the band was there but it didn't matter. The night was about them.

jacob couldn’t help but tilt his head back and laugh. “hide it better? i think you took like two shots before swaying on your feet. i think i saw you apologise to a chair.” he used to enjoy drinking when he was sixteen going to seventeen, hiding in his basement with his friends getting smashed drunk off cheap vodka. nowadays, the fun was in people watching as they tried to hide how lightweight they were. exhibit a? korinna. “and to answer your question: morgana is fine. she probably has mia and vienna fanning over her. mia is trying to avoid lorenzo so she’s extra motherly -- or as close to that as she can get. which isn’t very close.” the whole band dynamic sometimes felt suffocating. they were all each other had and sometimes their relationships got complicated and simply messy and everyone knew about it. “well, i’m at least six foot one so your five foot two is still far too short. like a hobbit. i think the aesthetic suits you.” as he spoke, jacob stepped back and let his back touch the cold wall. he used his hands so help him to slide down so he was sitting down in front of the sink with his arms resting on his knees. “or a polly pocket?”

Being on the road and being part of a band meant that most of the time, as a member, you had to give up a part of your privacy. Especially during tours, Jason had the feeling that being alone with Morgana was almost a luxury. As the bassist and someone who became actively involved with the soundcheck, he spent countless hours rehearsing and going over every little detail with the technicians and during his free time, when he wanted to just cuddle and relax, the band wanted to spend time together and socialise. Most of the time, by the time they had free time, Jason just wanted to fall asleep for twenty hours straight. For the past three days, he was going over everything meticulously but rushing as much as he could, trying to get Morgana alone before the tour officially started. JJ loved the band, loved the music and he loved his girlfriend. If being in a relationship at their age was difficult, their dynamic was the perfect recipe for them to get tired of each other in the future and he didn’t want that. Despite all the odds, he wanted things to work with M. He made sure he cleaned his room and organised her favourite movies, some snacks and comfortable blankets for when she arrived. The ‘comfortable blankets’ had been taped to the ceiling, the walls and the window, with fairy lights around the room. By walking in, it would look like a massive fort. The bed had dozens of pillows and more blankets, and it was facing a flat screen TV with the Netflix’s opening screen shining bright.  Jacob heard a sound in the living room, assuming it was her he called: “In the bedroom, M. Come and see.” 

jacob resembled a deer caught in the headlights. a part of him softened knowing that the girl trusted him enough to help her in such a vulnerable moment. he considered turning around and fetching morgana instead, or even lorenzo, but instead firmed his feet in place and decided to stay. “well, i guess i am a good company,” jacob said with a smile, trying to distract her from her sickness. he would draw a line at the puking -- he wasn’t sure he could stomach it since the pizza had been free flowing and he indulged more than his fair share. “i think you need someone sober to help you and i’d rather chop my arm off than go ask florian for that.” who would willingly go ask him? “want some crackers maybe? it might help. or the cold water.” uncapping his water bottle, he placed it beside her. since living around so many girls, a hairband lived attached to his wrist and he used that to gather her hair in a ponytail, tying it back to prevent future incidents. jacob shivered in disgust imagining not only the vomit but also the dirty hair. “what did you even drink? or are you just not that tolerant?” he looked at her in the mirror, leaning back against the cold tiles.
