Cashew on the flip side 🤓 I was looking at old photos on my phone and realized how inventive I used to be with cooking... not just everyday cooking the same things at the restaurant, but REALLY inventive. So, I got up this morning and decided to make this cashew cream cheese spread with tamari and spirulina to put on our gluten free sweet potato bagels 🤤 (see the fully assembled dish on @makenikkigreen ) (at Nikki Green)

Tea time 😌☕️ ๑ We’ve had the best few days in Kenya so far, from photographing lion cubs a few feet away from our vehicle to dancing in the dark in the middle of hot rain. It just feels surreal to spend this much time really enjoying nature with family. Amidst the game drives of the day, we even take time to drink traditional Kenyan tea and watch the scenery from our shaded porch. It’s a strong black tea which we sweeten with several spoonfuls of sugar and (for the non vegans of the group) a generous amount of milk. It’s not the way that we usually drink our caffeine when we are staying up late to finish assignments or need something to shake us from our cozy beds... it’s a little taste of Narok- keeping you energized when clinging to the top of the speeding Jeep or holding you over in the heat of the sun until the next meal. Mostly for our family, it has become a routine that brings us closer to this culture that we so desperately wish was our own. We may never be true Kenyans, but I have a feeling that we will gratefully continue to meditate in these little indulgences for years to come๑ (at Narok)
