"Your mistreatment at the hands of your abuser isn't valid unless you actively fight back or otherwise respond in a way I deem ideal!" is sadly a prevalent mindset when it comes to abuse victims.

I've known cases where pictures of victims smiling alongside their abusers have been used to 'disprove' their claims of being in an abusive relationship. Like manipulation and coercion aren't a thing in abusive relationships. It's downright gross.

I'll see people try to hawk base fills for like $30. Not even modifying the lines. Just $30 pls.

Or trying to trade designs drawn by someone whose skills just aren't there yet.

Or pushing their comms when, again, they don't have the skills where they need them yet.

I'm talking about the ones who are nice, not the clout-chasers and such. Just folks truckin' along, creating cool stuff, not letting that lack of skill get them down too much. The folks you know whose art you'll eventually be happy to see, because they have some sort of internal engine that keeps them going. It comes out in everything they draw, getting refined, until you say WOW whenever their art lands in your inbox.

And I say to myself, "I'm going to keep drawing until I have the self-confidence that these people do." And that makes art more fun, thinking about that happening, and thinking about growing along with all the other unskilled artists.

So if you're still unskilled and you like art, don't give up! Come with us. There's room for anyone who's a decent soul. <3

Mfer its only ugly to you because it doesnt conform to what YOU like. Unique artstyles are just that, unique. Just cause it doesnt suit YOUR tastes means its ugly, it means its unique.

I get that designers are trying to not let people overinflate the design's worth and essentially just flip it for greater profit by adding a ton of uncolored, poorly scanned in pencil sketches (which I used to see a lot), but honestly? Let them. People rarely buy these things for the inflated secondhand asking price. And now you also don't look like a jackass who doesn't value other people's art and time.

No one's catching strays and the person artificially jacking up the price who probably just wanted the design to resell later anyway, will probably be struggling to sell for quite some time, if at all.
