BACKGROUND
Jackson Knight never knew an easy life. Born alongside his twin brother, Lance, he always had someone by his side. Yet, even their bond couldn’t shield them from the harsh reality of their upbringing. Their father, a raging alcoholic, unleashed his frustrations on the boys with fists and venomous words. Nights were filled with beatings, and days were spent fabricating lies to explain away the bruises. By the time they were old enough to understand the gravity of their situation, Jackson and Lance were desperate to escape.
When the twins were sixteen, their lives took an unexpected turn with the birth of their younger sister, Guin. She wasn’t planned, just another consequence of a chaotic household. Guin’s arrival only added to the strain. Their father’s temper, already volatile, became explosive, and their mother, overwhelmed and distant, offered little reprieve. At just two years old, Guin bore witness to a home filled with anger and violence, a tragedy waiting to unfold.
Jackson couldn’t stand by and watch. At 17, he made a decision that would change all their lives. One evening, after their father flew into another fit of rage, Jackson saw no other option. With bags secretly packed for weeks, he grabbed Guin and left the house for good. The guilt of leaving Lance behind weighed heavy, but protecting his baby sister came first.
Still just a kid himself, Jackson had no idea how to raise a toddler. Their mother’s worsening forgetfulness after Guin’s birth had already forced him into a caretaker role at home. Now, on his own, he scrambled to survive. He called in favors, crashing on friends’ couches while working whatever odd jobs he could find. It was a grueling life, but at least Guin was safe.
At 19, Jackson found steady work as a bouncer at a club in Midtown. Years of enduring his father’s abuse had taught him how to fight, and he was good at it. Breaking up bar fights and tossing out unruly patrons became second nature. One night, a fight erupted that escalated far beyond the usual drunken scuffle. Jackson stepped in, protecting a young man who turned out to be connected to a powerful underground group: The Crimson Gang.
His actions caught the attention of the Crimson’s leader, who offered Jackson a way out of his dead-end life. It wasn’t clean or moral, but it came with stability—and money. At first hesitant, Jackson accepted. He needed to provide for Guin, and this was the only way he saw to keep her safe and secure.
Jackson started small, handling muscle work and learning the Crimson’s ways. But his natural talent for fighting and his unwavering focus made him stand out. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, taking on increasingly dangerous assignments. By the time he turned 29, Jackson had become the Syndicate’s head assassin, a feared and respected figure within their ranks.
Despite his hardened exterior, everything Jackson did was for Guin. Even as he navigated a life of violence and shadows, she remained his light, a constant reminder of why he fought so hard to escape their past.
Jack spent his days working a cover job, and his evenings helping his sister with homework before sneaking out while she was asleep to be one of the deadliest assassins NYC had ever seen. It wasn't a perfect life but it was his. There was one night that weighed on him though, a particular hit gone wrong. A planted explosion meant to take out a society member, Caio, but someone got in the way. Not just anyone, no, Lance. Lance pushed Caio out of the way and took the brunt of the explosion, damaging his hearing in the process. Jackson isn't sure if his twin is aware he is the one behind his deafness, the one that ruined his dreams of working in the music industry, but Jack would never forget that night either.
These days Jack can be found arguing with his teenager, being behind nasty hits, and avoiding commitment in the bedroom. Jackson has two loyalties and that is his sister and the crimson, anything that is a threat to either one will be met with death.
