i wish there was an easier way to tell the difference between an "if it sucks hit da bricks" situation and a "sometimes being an adult means doing things that you dont wanna" situation

I’m including an image description because I decided a little while ago that I’m going to include an image description for every photo I reblog, but first I just want say that this painting is amazing.  I love it, and I’m really happy that I went ahead and checked out the creater (who I think is both karnivil and jabu-illustrations at the same time? correct me if I’m wrong please) because karni/jabu also made another really beautiful mermaid drawing with this same sort of concept. And anyway that just goes to show that when you see art you really like you should go check out the creator because chances are they have more stuff that suits your taste as well. (because that’s how it works) Image Description: A color painting of a Japanese mermaid or perhaps merman–since the merman/mermaid in question’s anatomy is stereotypicaly male, based off of the red Arowana fish, swimming downwards with it’s long body over a white background with a red circle–i.e. the Japanese flag.  Followed by a close up of the same painting, and then two photos of a Red Arowana.  Both the painting of the merman/mermaid and the photos of the fish itself are stunning. The red arowana is covered mostly in red scales that all have a gold luminescent tint around the edges, and its face is blue-ish-grey-ish-purple in coloration.  The effect of the coloration is a dark and glowing feel.  The merman/mermaid has the corresponding coloration in the fish part as the lower body of the red arowana and the human part corresponds to coloration of the red arowanas face.  Additionally, the merman/mermaid has the corresponding fins as the red arowana in the fish part, skinny muscular features in the human part, large webbed hands, and long black hair.  The artist’s style seems to me reminiscent of manga (but I’m not a critic and I never took art history or anything so I don’t really know), and the colors seem to have been done, at least in part, using water colors.  The hair looks like pen to me.  I’m guessing the whole thing is a digital art.
