Stiles bounced Eli in his baby carrier, the toddler giggling and munching on Stiles’ fingers. He pushed open the door to the café with one hand, claiming a booth near the windows because Eli loved to watch cars drive by.
“Are you excited to see Uncle Scott, baby?” Stiles cooed, unwrapping him from the carrier and setting him down on the plush seat before sliding in next to him.
Eli got to his feet and banged his hands against the table as they babbled, “Hungwy, mama, eat?”
Stiles chuckled and rubbed Eli’s back, saying, “Yeah, Eli, we’re gonna eat. What would you like to have?”
Eli turned and fisted Stiles’ t-shirt, the other hand moving to rest on Stiles’ cheek and replied, “Bacon?”
“You really are your daddy’s son, huh?” Stiles murmured, leaning forward and rubbing his nose against Eli’s.
Eli clumsily pressed a kiss to Stiles’ mouth and gasped, “Daddy.”
“Baby, daddy is not joining us this morning. He had to run into work,” Stiles explained.
“Mama, wan’ daddy,” Eli whined, nuzzling into Stiles’ shoulder.
“Oh, baby, I know. I want your daddy too,” Stiles mumbled. He leaned back to face his son and excitedly said, “Let’s order some bacon for my little wolf, hmm? And some berries too?”
“Bebbies, bebbies, bebbies!” Eli happily chanted, stomping his little feet.
“Such a happy baby, Eli,” Stiles said, pinching his cheeks.
Stiles called the waitress over and quickly placed an order of waffles, bacon and berries for his son, waiting for Scott to place his own.
Scott arrived just as Eli’s breakfast was placed in front of him and Stiles slid out of his seat to greet him. Scott wrapped him up in a hug while breathing, “Sorry, dude, I had literally no gas in my car. Had to run to the gas station before I came here.”
Both of the froze when Eli growled, pulling back to look at him.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Stiles worriedly asked, moving to sit next to his son again.
Eli immediately wrapped himself around Stiles and growled at Scott, “My mama.”
Scott and Stiles giggled and Scott replied, “Yup, he’s all yours, buddy.”
“No touch,” Eli said, frowning and pointing at Scott. “On’y me an’ daddy.”
“What about grandpa, Eli?” Stiles teasingly asked as Scott took a seat opposite them.
Eli hummed and looked at Stiles intently in thought, before finally replying, “Gwampa okay, mama. But no Unca’.”
Eli wiggled off the sofa as soon as the door jiggled open, abandoning his twenty minutes of screen time to run and greet Derek, Stiles right behind him.
“Daddy!” Eli exclaimed, wrapping around one of Derek’s legs.
Derek grinned and ruffled Eli’s hair, “Hi, little wolf. Did you miss daddy?”
Eli frantically nodded as Stiles extracted him from Derek’s leg and held him up so Derek could grab him in a proper hug. Eli buried his face in Derek’s neck and started scenting him while Derek placed a kiss on his head. Derek held a hand out towards Stiles who eagerly pushed into his arms as well.
“Your son growled at Scott today,” Stiles murmured against Derek’s lips.
Derek stole a few more kisses, holding Eli up with one arm while the other wrapped around Stiles’ waist. “Did he?” he asked, smiling widely.
“Wipe that smile off your face, Sourwolf,” Stiles teasingly threatened, and leaned in to press kisses to his cheek.
“I can’t smile when my family is loving on me?” Derek asked as both Eli and Stiles continued to kiss whatever part of his body they could reach.
“Don’t front, Der, I know at least part of that smile is because Eli growled at Scott,” Stiles said. He gasped when Derek suddenly squatted and picked Stiles up as well, carrying both him and Eli at the same time. “You’re gonna drop us!”
“As if,” Derek scoffed, walking into the living room. He sank down on the sofa, both his boys on his lap. “Did Scott do something?”
Stiles picked Eli up and rearranged his legs into a more comfortable position, then sat Eli down on his lap, leaning on Derek’s chest. “Nope, nothing! He just hugged me.”
“Ah,” Derek drawled. Tickling Eli’s side, he cooed, “Was my little wolf protecting his mama?”
Eli nodded and said, “Yes daddy! Told Unca’ on’y me and daddy and, and gwampa touch mama. No one else!”
“Did you, Eli?” Derek hummed, bringing Eli’s hand up to his mouth to kiss his palm.
“Did, daddy,” Eli proudly replied.
“Don’t encourage him!” Stiles hissed, trying to tamp down his pleased grin.
“It’s his wolf, baby. He just wants to keep you safe. The instinct won’t go away but he’ll learn that you’re safe with other people besides us,” Derek assured, bringing Stile’s face to rest on his shoulder.
Derek pressed his lips to Stiles’ temple, closing his eyes and breathing in the smell of his family. “I love you, both,” he whispered, tightening his hold on them.
“Love you, daddy,” Eli and Stiles replied.
