Isadora “Izzy” Santiago // 33 (DOB: February 24th, 1990) // Personal Assistant to Sawyer Decker, manager at Madre Tierra, and part-time model
Youngest of the Santiago siblings (Matias is 7 years older, Reina 1 year older)
Her biological father is still alive, although he suffered a traumatic brain injury overseas during the Gulf War and has been living at an assisted living facility since she was five. She doesn’t really know him for that reason. She did find out she had a half sister because of this, though, and she and @ariana-cruz connected that way.
Mental Illness TW: Her biological mother was suffering from postpartum psychosis that had been mostly treated until shortly after her father was deployed on his final mission. Her delusions tended to include a belief that her failure to emotionally bond with Izzy was because she was possessed by a demon.
Child Abuse and Suicide TW: After her father got hurt and was hospitalized, her mother spiraled even further, blaming Izzy’s existence for losing her husband. She started to neglect and then eventually abuse her which led to Izzy losing most of her hearing in her left ear and her mother being arrested. She committed suicide before she could receive any type of sentence.
She was adopted by the Santiagos at the age of 6, having spent a little over a year in the foster care system. The family moved to Tonopah Valley when she was 10 years old.
Best friends with @logandonovan and @emiri-tezel since grade school who both looked out for her as she grew up and helped her to blossom into a more confident person. Has since added @harper-jones to that mix after she moved to town.
Shy when you initially meet her, she’s one of the nicest and most sociable people you’ll ever meet once she warms up enough to you. She’s also a highkey daydreamer and hopeless romantic so she basically falls in love with everyone she meets on the dl.
She’s very much an optimist, always trying to find the good in the bad, but she’s far from being toxically positive. She understands the importance of holding space for negative emotions and allows herself to feel them on occasion for what her life could’ve been like had she not experienced what she had as a child. She’s eternally grateful for the life the Santiagos have given her, though.
All that to say, she is still the younger sister of a Los Santos former lieutenant, so she’s been taught self-defense: how to shoot and use a knife, most lethal places on the human body, etc. She keeps a butterfly knife on her at all times that she received as a gift when she turned 15. She’ll cut a bitch if necessary.
She joined a modeling contest in high school on a dare and ended up being scouted from that process. She was modeling ever since, though she’s taken a step away from it as of late because she’s not sure she wants to do it for the rest of her life. She now works as a manager at Madre Tierra, but previously worked as a barista part-time at The Book Nook and was hired as @sawyerdecker‘s personal assistant.
