The city lights blurred past the car window as Y/N rested their head against the glass, watching the streets glow beneath the midnight sky. It had been a long nightโone filled with music, crowds, and endless energyโbut now everything felt calm.
Especially with Tom sitting beside them.
For a while, neither of them spoke. The comfortable silence felt natural, like they didn't need words to fill the space between them.
Tom glanced over and smiled.
"You were amazing tonight."
Y/N laughed softly. "I didn't do anything."
The sincerity in his voice made Y/N look at him.
Tom was already watching them.
His dark eyes softened, and for a moment the rest of the world seemed impossibly far away.
"You know," he said quietly, "I've played shows in front of thousands of people. I've traveled everywhere. Met so many different people."
"But somehow, the best part of my day is always when I get to see you."
Y/N felt their cheeks warm.
Tom laughed, the sound low and warm.
The car stopped outside the hotel.
Neither of them moved immediately.
Neither seemed eager for the night to end.
Finally, Tom stepped out and held the door open for Y/N. Together they crossed the quiet lobby and made their way upstairs.
When they reached Y/N's room, they lingered outside the door.
Tom slipped his hands into his pockets.
"I guess this is goodnight."
The words sounded reluctant.
A smile tugged at Tom's lips.
"We're really bad at saying goodbye."
Finally, Tom stepped closer.
Just close enough that Y/N could feel the warmth radiating from him.
His hand lifted gently, brushing a strand of hair away from their face.
The gesture was so soft it made Y/N's heart ache.
"Can I tell you something?" he asked.
"I think I've been falling for you for a while now."
The confession hung in the quiet hallway.
Tom looked almost nervous now, which somehow made the moment even sweeter.
"I didn't mean for it to happen," he admitted. "But every time something good happens, you're the first person I want to tell. Every time I'm away, I miss you."
His thumb brushed lightly against Y/N's cheek.
"And every time I see you, it feels like coming home."
For a second, Y/N couldn't find the right words.
So instead, they reached for his hand.
The kind of smile that reached his eyes.
The kind reserved for moments that truly mattered.
When he leaned forward, his forehead rested gently against theirs.
They simply stood there, sharing the quiet, content to exist in the same moment.
And somehow, that felt more romantic than any grand gesture ever could.
Because for the first time, neither of them was wondering what came next.
They were simply happy to be exactly where they were.
