This piece is very important to me. I spent the last two years tied up in a stressful and harmful relationship. In retrospect it drove me to the worst point in my life. When the inevitable occurred and we parted ways I started to realize that I didn't know who I was. I had spent so long trying to be someone for someone else I had lost all sense of identity. Everything I did was out of love for him and without that love I felt empty. Even my art had become driven by my constant need to be noticed by him. During our relationship I spent endless hours telling myself my work wasn't good enough and cried over blank pages I didn't have the courage to fill. I had never had that strong a doubt or such intense self hatred. It was eye opening and shocking how relieving it was to start creating work for myself again. I struggled all summer to get back to the point I was before- making art daily and feeling fulfilled by my work. Tears and heart ache later here I am, still working my ass off. Still fighting the odds with art school. Still striving to be the best I can be and put my soul into every creation I make. I've got parts of myself to figure out but I'm in such a better place than I was a few months back and for that I am thankful. . . #sketch #heart #love #heartbreak #artstudent #art

I got a great deal on sketch books at Michael's! 5 bucks for 11x14 Bristol board.
