Legal Regal
âThank you, Frankie,â Jac smiled, thankful for the lawyerâs services. She would have called her Miss Lockhart, but that seemed stuffy and impersonal. Maybe if she was older, and wiser about business affairs, it wouldnât feel foreign to use proper titles. The dancer sighed softly after the lawyer left on a refreshments hunt and nervously clicked the pen a few times as she read and re-read the first two lines a couple of times. With a deep breath, she was able to focus on the print. She fidgeted a bit in her chair and tapped the pen against her knee as her foot swung in the air slowly. âAlrighty then,â she mumbled. âI kind of get thatâŚâ she bit her lip and nodded her head in agreement to a thought: she could never be a lawyer. A smile crossed her face as she picture the expression of her collaborator as he learned that he was now at risk of going to trial.Â
Jacque reached the signature line as Frankie rejoined her. She looked up as the other crossed over to her seat and smiled a little. âI love them-â She sniffed the air and grinned at the sandwich, reminding her of a bakery she went to the first week she arrived to town, but forgot to rediscover after gaining a functional kitchen. âIâm always running late so I never have time to stop for breakfast. Always granola bar and fruit city. I should invest in one of those alarm clock that have wheels on them,â she laughed. âBut um⌠right.â She smiled a little and drew out her signature next to the penned date she filled in beforehand. âThere we go. And thereâs a copy for me to keep, yeah?â
Frankie chuckled at the young lady's train of thought following a running alarm clock. "I've heard they're actually quite handy- but I've also heard horror stories of those with a temper throwing them against a wall, or out a window because they're annoying." Luckily, she'd been sort of forced to be a morning person. Her parents made sure she was up. Though, when she'd been living with Charlie she'd ended up more of a night owl. She could do either easily, but she preferred the night life- it was linked more strongly with the life she wanted. Music.
"Was there anything that needed clarification?" She asked, gesturing to the papers that had already been signed. "Of course, and I'll sign each copy as well..." She gently took the papers from Jac and signed. On her part, it was mostly a confidentiality agreement. Along with a lot of legal jargon about how she couldn't be forced to keep a client should the client make her uncomfortable in anyway, and that the client had the right to choose a different attourney at any time. Frankie knew the papers by heart, even before her employment in Harmony. They were covered by the many things her parents had taught her.
