Media: Black women are loud, violent and aggressive.

Black men: "Yeah, man. But these latina women though..."

Black women: ...

Black men: -dates girl outside race-

Black women: -sighs-

Black men: You jealous because [bullshit reason here].

Black women: ...

Black women: -dates outside of race-

Black men: What about us?! You're destroying our culture! Mammy! Bedwench! Feminazi! You must hate being black! Sellout! You all like 'Black men aint shit.' We were we supposed to do? This is why feminism is ruining our culture.

Black women: ....?

You are what you think or is it you are what you say you are? We could rely solely on our thoughts but why if we can transform our thoughts into words. These words that we speak become our actions and help us manifest our purpose. Affirmations help us restructure our brains so we can achieve the things that we once thought were impossible. From the Latin word affirmare, meaning “to make steady, strengthen”, we learn that these phrases are meant to help strengthen our confidence. For me affirmations are everything and more. They help me regain my confidence when I feel defeated and when I’m up at 3 am thinking what I could have done better throughout the day. Through the use of affirmations, I take the reigns of my situation and turn it into something positive. Here are the affirmations I use to help get my day started:

I am a well loved and well respected person. 

I release the need to prove myself to anyone as I am my own self and I love it that way.

I honor all of the pieces that make me who I am, good and bad.

I am the captain of my life and I choose the direction it goes in.

I am a powerhouse; I am indestructible.
