there is something kind of beautiful about the fact that after years of feuding the best that both bylers and milevens will ever get is headcannoning a future where it somehow eventually works out between the wondertwin of their choice and a completely hallucinated version of mike wheeler that isn't a pathetic cardboard cutout knockoff of his former self. peace & love.

This is real queerbaiting. Not a celebrity being close with someone of the same gender, but a corporation cashing in on the hype that a hypothetical gay love story gave them, only to turn tail and walk it back because the political climate doesn’t like gay people anymore. I think you guys need to understand that this is the system at work. It might be just a show, but it is important. Don’t let anyone gaslight you and tell you it’s not.

Some people keep saying we don't like the ending because Byler wasn't endgame, but y'all need to stop pretending the only thing wrong with the show was Will and Mike not ending up together. They gave no further explanation on why the mind flayer picked Will in the first place, they wrote a whole ass canon play about the big bad guy that was pretty much ignored in the show. They didn't show Patty even tho she was the whole point of Henry's story, they had Joyce kill him without giving a single acknowledgement to the fact that was someone she knew, in fact all of the people that went to school with him talked about Henry without ever acknowledging that was the same Henry they went to high school with. They had all these repetitive lines in season 5 that led nowhere "bring light to the darkness" "Will powers are innate" all that bulshit circling back to November 6 and then not diving into why that would be important. They had Mike say Will was "sorta like Vecna" and Will tell Henry he was just like him for it to mean fuck nothing in the end because I guess is easier and cooler to decapitate the bad guy than actually write some depth into the character. Also are we supposed to believe the mind flayer is dead? They didn't give any scenes to show it is alive but we can all agree it is, right? That shit they killed was just like the shit they killed in season 3, by the way that was pretty much the same final battle than season 3, like a the same fucking shit, they threw fire in it from the top of the hills the same way they threw the fireworks from the second floor of the mall, Vecna died being pierced through the heart just like Billy was. Honestly to God why are you reheating season 3 nachos in what was supposed to be the big finale. I could seat here for days talking about all that was wrong with it and not even mention Byler even tho they did so many things wrong with that storyline.

I keep thinking about everyone slowly realizing mike's in love with will. will brings someone home for Christmas for the first time and Jonathan notices Mike's mask begin to fall. will talks about moving in with his first serious boyfriend and max and Lucas share a look of quiet understanding because mike just went quiet and didn't talk for the rest of the night. it's lumax's wedding and Joyce notices how mike stands at the edge of the dancefloor with this look of desperate yearning while will dances with his partner. at holly's college graduation, when will shows up unaccompanied for the first time and mike just lights up with hope and doesn't leave will's side all night. slowly, everyone starts to notice until it's an open secret. everyone but will knows. and no one tells him because they think he's long since moved on
