WHATEVER COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET !  

♕ ;; beach / swimsuit ! 

honestly, marius rarely goes to the beach or out swimming. he used to go quite often as a child with his grandfather - monsieur gillenormand believed that swimming was important to the strength of a boy - but now, so busy with work and the les amis, marius doesn't exactly have the time or the money to go to the beach or out swimming. he still owns one swimming costume - it's probably too small now, since it fitted him as a teenager and he's grown significantly in height, but it still sits in the back of his drawer, still smelling like the detergent that his nanny used to wash all of his clothes. it's a plain, black pair of swimming trunks - kind of boring, but that's marius pontmercy for you. he doesn't own many exciting pieces of clothing, besides his collection of colourful cravats. 

so, when he goes to the beach for the first time with cosette, he wears that pair of swimming trucks, which surprisingly do fit. ( he's grown a little taller, yes, but the lack of money and food has kept him rather thin. ) and, of course, because he's incredibly self-concious of his freckly backside... he has to wear a t-shirt, even when he does go into the water.
