asks that go “i bought this/did this and now i feel bad and idk what to do” -> these are going to collect dust in my inbox.

i cannot tell you have many hundreds of asks like that i received in the messrsrobyn days, but i *can* tell you that i don’t care. i don’t care if you did a bad thing and feel bad about it. that’s for You to work through. please do not come to my inbox, explicitly state that you knew it was bad, then state that you proceeded to do it anyway, and then ask me (a trans person) what you should do to make yourself feel better.

trans people in fandom aren’t here to make you feel better for your nostalgia. i’m not going to pat your back and say “it’s okay !!! i - a trans person - forgive you for knowingly funding the biggest bigot in the UK who has insane power over my rights !! it’s okay <3 don’t worry <3”

all of the Big talks are in my masterlist. all of the rest are on @irrevocablecondition. we will, of course, continue to talk about JKR here because it’s important to me. but that’s why we’re doing it. because it’s important to me, not to make you feel better for continuing to engage. it’s 2026, her bigotry isn’t a secret. you know what to do, and you make your own choices. i’m not here to coddle you when you come to terms with the fact your choices are bad.

but it can easily be summarised up with - your actions in fandom are not contained to fandom. that is why critical thinking and discretion (especially in this fandom, with this creator, and this political climate) are essential.

but regardless, this is such a prime example of the way fandom isn’t contained. the way fandom - and the ways in which we behave in it - leeches into every aspect of life.

and i think that’s an incredibly important thing to recognise, especially in the marauders fandom.

it is incredibly important to recognise how capitalism impacts fandom. it is incredibly important, in the marauders fandom when acting with JKR’s IP, to understand how deep that connection goes. how money and marketing and prevalence factors into that equation.

incredibly important to understand that simply being in this fandom is not enough to say you Get it. that you Understand. that you’re Against her.

just look at alchemised/manacled and the way that publication was marketed. the center of all marketing was that it was Dramione Fanfiction. Harry Potter Fanfiction.

that connection is important. regardless of where a work was originally posted, or what the author has stated, if that connection to her name and her characters and her work is there when publishing writing for profit? then that connection is important.

the commercialisation of fanfiction is an issue in and of itself. the commercialisation of Harry Potter fanfiction is a whole other can of worms.

associating with that shouldn’t be a dilemma.

It’s a pained expression that takes over Sirius’ face and Remus wishes he had the words to describe how it makes him feel.
