Sheriff Greene.

It’s frustrating and really confusing trying to look through everything on here because I haven’t been on in so long and most of my posts are from threads that just stopped and stuff. 

      Hearing anothers voice was a surprise, so was turning around to look at the stranger just as he took down a walker that had apparently been closing in on her without her noticing.

                       I’m sorry I take 2837897845748 years to respond.

She didn’t want to hope too much too soon but the farmer’s daughter was instantly reminded of the afternoon she’d seen Rick running towards them with his son bleeding in his arms. Maybe it was fate that she and Beth came here, too. Bruised and hungry and disheartened. Maybe there would be survivors who would help them. 

As they traipsed through the field Maggie couldn’t see a sign of a living soul. The farm looked to be abandoned. It was a minor disappointment. At least they still had shelter to look forward to - maybe even a warm bed. She didn’t have to say anything. One look at her baby sister and Maggie knew that they were headed straight for that farmhouse anyways, survivors or no. “Think there’s anyone inside?” She couldn’t see anything through the windows yet. Maybe when they got closer. 

   "Doubt it, looks pretty empty in there." Even the slightest possibility that there were others in there made her nervous. After they took in other survivors and got close to them, they lost them all in the end. It was like a never ending cycle. If anyone was in there, there wasn't any knowing whether or not they'd let them in or not. Truthfully, she was okay with it just being her and Maggie until they found the others, the ones they knew, loved, and trusted.

   As the two walked closer towards the farm her nervousness started to fade. It seemed to be abandoned so far, and even if it wasn't, she had Maggie and Maggie had her. They had each others backs no matter what. "Seems strange, don't it? Finding a farm." In a way it gave Beth just a tiny bit of hope that everything would be okay. It was just felt too strange that they'd come across a farm and it not be a good thing. Then again, she could be totally wrong.

She glanced sidelong at Beth and saw the slight color to her cheeks, the dreamy smile that the younger girl probably wasn’t even aware graced her features. “Oh look at you, you really like this boy, don’t you?” She paused to dig out a piece of potato that was discolored. “Well, that’s good, though. I’m glad you’re happy baby girl. I won’t tease you anymore, I’m sure Shawn’s got that base covered.” Their brother was pretty stereotypical in that sense, he did love to tease. But Shawn’s teasing was good natured and affectionate, never malicious. 

   "I really really do! He's just so sweet and funny, Maggie. I think you'll really like him." With any luck, that is. She couldn't imagine what would happen if Maggie didn't like him. Things would be extremely awkward if that were to happen. "He's covered that enough to last me until I'm fifty. When Jimmy brought me back home the first night he took me to the movies, we were talkin' on the porch and he leaned down to kiss my cheek, cute, right? Shawn totally whipped the door right open, pretty much stared Jimmy down. I was kinda surprised when Jimmy texted me the next mornin'." Even though Shawn got under her skin with how protective he was, deep down she knew it was only because he didn't want her getting hurt. Plus, it was kinda funny sometimes, although she'd never admit that around her brother.

   Beth didn't know Merle but she hoped he'd come through for Daryl. Things were going to get bad and it could happen any second. They needed all the help they could get, it didn't matter who it was coming from. Everyone makes mistakes but right now the important thing was staying alive and protecting their home. It wasn't like they could just up and go again, spend months on the road with no shelter, scavenging for anything they could find. They had Judith now and her father was in no position to be on the run again. The months after the prison were extremely rough with Lori pregnant, but now they had to think about her father and Judith as well. Plus, this was their h o m e. They took it and made it their home, lost several good people in the process.

   "We're not givin' up without a fight, none of us. All this preparin' probably won't help when it happens, but it's what we do. It'll be bad, but who knows, we just might win."

   Not one of them would give up without a fight, that was obvious. Not after everything they'd been through, everything they lost along the way. The Governor was going to come and try to take it all away, but none of them would just stand by and let him. It was going to be a fight, a bloody fight. Everyone knew the risks, had the chance to leave if they wanted, but none of them did. What happens next is going to happen, and being afraid wasn't going to change that. All they could do was get ready.

   A smile formed on her face when Daryl turned his head towards her and she lifted hers to meet his lips. One hand stayed around his neck, fingers in his hair, the other on his chest, fingers riveting his vest.

   "Doubt that. I'm more of a huffer and a puffer when I get mad."

   She looked up when Rick placed his hand on her shoulder before he spoke. Her lips parted slightly, taking in a deep breath. Him telling Lori would be proud of her was something that meant more than anything else anyone could ever say to her. She missed Lori. The two spoke quite often while they were on the road after the farm, which added to the friendship between the two that started back on the farm when Lori tried to help her. To the very day she still regretted the way she acted towards Lori when she found out she was pregnant. She'd apologize a hundred times if she had the chance. In some odd way, helping Rick and Carl out with Judith felt like sort of a thank you to Lori, even if she wasn't here to see it. She truly owed Lori for the things she said to her back at the farm, telling Maggie about it, as well as getting her off of the farm alive. So, hearing Rick say that really meant a lot.

     But he knew Philip was a persistent man, and Milton regretted not leaving with Andrea now, he should never had stayed. He knew what Philip had become. Now his hands gripped on the steering wheel as he remained quiet for a few seconds, trying to think of the right thing to say, but it was simple— there was nothing at this point he could say. Nothing he said would save him from the past, but Milton had nothing to do with the attack on Woodbury, he tried everything he could to stop him, and that resulted in him left to die in a dark room.

     “No body deserved to die by his hand— but you have to understand, I had nothing to do with the attack on the prison. I didn’t even know till you told me.” He stated, being honest with her— if she was going to start lashing out on him for something he wasn’t involved in, then he would just have to explain. “I tried to stop him months ago when he first went to the prison, and I was left in a room beaten nearly to death. I’m telling you now, I never wanted anything to do with the attack on your home, and I sure as hell wasn’t involved the second time. Which is why I apologized.”

      Milton made sure his voice remained calm the entire time, hoping that the explanation was enough. His mind finally came to a rest, no longer filled with conflict, he now spoke what he knew what was the truth. The truth being he was dragged into a mess he never wanted to be involved in, he only wanted to help, find a cure, move on and try to pretend things were okay.

   "He just showed up. Think it was four days ago or so, somethin' like that. He had people with him, dozen or so, maybe. Tank too, along with my daddy and Michonne, guess you've heard about her?        He wanted the prison again, said he had people to protect. All happened pretty fast after my dad went down, don't even know who made it out. Guessin' he didn't, but I can't be sure of it."

   But she sure did hope he didn't. She wasn't someone who had ever wanted anyone dead before, other than him, and anyone who stood behind him that day. Losing the prison was one thing, but losing her father and being separated from her sister, not knowing if she was even okay, was another. What he did was unforgivable in every way, and she could only wish he didn't live past that day.

   Once again she let her thoughts pull her back away from what was actually going on, only to be yanked back by his words. Relieved?    No, that wasn't the word. She wanted to go back, to find Daryl so they could move on and keep looking for the others, but she was terrified at the same time. She didn't want anymore people to die, and part of her couldn't help but think Daryl wouldn't hesitate.      if he was even still there.
