âIf you choose to crawl, so be it. If you choose to stroll, so be it. If you choose to fly, so be it.â Â
Indie Star Wars multimuse blog. Currently featuring: Fives, Scout Tur-Mukan, Daliah Syndulla, Rhea Syndulla, Tani Gilamar, Tala Zyri, & Sabine Wren
But I am not just another number. None of us are!
Dunno where this came from, but here, have a scene from a fic I will never write:
âRex! Rex, Iâm here! I heard you were in this system, so I thought Iâd drop by, andâââ
Fivesâ voice caught, and he slowed his upbeat jog across the hangar deck. Rex had emerged from the gunship, looking exhausted. But as he stepped aside, another figure was revealed. A clone, he had to be a clone. But his armor was different; just a padded suit and some chest plastoid. And his face was pale and sickly, the skin stretched tight over sharp bones and sunken deep into the hollow spots. And on his head, a series of large round dotsââwere they plugs of some kind? And his right armâŚgone. Just gone. A long durasteel shaft in its place, that looked suspiciously like a dataport access connection. He barely looked human, and certainly looked like hell.
But when the trooper saw Fives, his steps faltered. A look came over his face, a hundred different emotions compressed into a few quirks of the eyebrows and quivers of the mouth. His eyes darted over Fivesâ body, returning again and again to the tattoo at Fivesâ temple.
Fives approached more slowly.  âRex,â he said again, but there was more caution in his voice. âSome of the boys contacted me, said you were passing through. They snuck me on board. Itâs good to see you, sir.â He extended his hand.
Rex gave a tired smile and clasped Fivesâ forearm in greeting. âYou too. Howâs life in hiding?â
âEh, itâs all right. Could be more interesting.â Fives shrugged.
âMore interesting than the Chancellorâs goons out trying to track you down and kill you.â Rexâs tone was serious, but a twinkle in his eye betrayed the humor.
Fives shrugged again and smirked. âHavenât caught me yet.â
âFives?â
The voice came from the other trooper unexpectedly, and Fives snapped his head around to look at him. But the tone hadnât been one of surprise or recognition. It had sounded like concern or worry, with a slight accusatory edge. It seemed to say What happened? and What did you do? all at the same time. A nagging feeling in the back of Fivesâ mind told him he should know that voice from somewhere.
âYeah, thatâs what they call me,â Fives said instead, extending his right hand to the trooper. Reflexively, the other trooper tried to return the gesture. Both of them paused only a whisper away from touching. Durasteel shaft. Thatâs right. Fives cleared his throat and awkwardly retracted his hand.
The other trooper let his eyes linger on the five tattoo at Fivesâ temple again. âThatâs what you call you,â he said, after a time.
Fivesâ eyebrows knit together. âIâm sorry, have we met before?â There was that nagging feeling again, in the back of his mind. âIâve seen a lot of brothers, but you didnât look likeâŚthisâŚlast time I saw you. Sorry.â
Something that looked a lot like pain crossed the trooperâs face. But it was quickly replaced by a small, gentle, almost bittersweet smile. And there was that feeling again, and Fives was starting to wonder if he really wanted to know why it was there, because no, that wasnât possible, and he should just shove that thought right down before it tore his chest apart.
The trooper must have seen something in Fivesâ face, because he took a step forward and placed his left hand on Fivesâ shoulder. âI know you donât recognize me,â he said softly, âbut Iâm here. Iâm alive. Iâm not a ghost.â
Fives found it difficult to breathe all of a sudden. He stood, tense, as the trooper slid his hand down from Fivesâ shoulder to rest, fingers splayed, on Fivesâ chest. The trooperâs eyes drifted down to his hand, then back up, almost hesitantly, to meet Fivesâ gaze.
âIâm not anâŚecho.â
Fives felt his heart explode. A flash of tingling cold swept across his skin. His breath caught in his throat and his head swam in white haze. A whimpering noise reached his ears, a quavering âEcho?â Somewhere in the haze he realized it had come from himself. And suddenly the room was spinning and trembling, and the only thing keeping him grounded was the searing heat of the hand on his chest.
As Fives fell into the spinning white haze, he heard a voice, all too familiar now, and so achingly sweeter than any other sound in the galaxy:
âItâs good to see you again, brother.â
Iâm just filled with sarcasm and homosexuality.

Iâm worried there will come a day that I wonât be able to sleep without hearing your voice.

That comes as a mixture of relief and hesitance, wondering who this person was, and what they were doing that didnât require haste, but did require the stealth of a smugglerâs ship. Sure, everyone had their own business, these days, and he kept to himself as much as he could, but this was strange. Very, very, very strange. He tried to avoid strange things these days, as best he can in his line of work. Being careful kept him alive. Still, backing out now, and so suddenly, would make him memorable, and that was a bad thing to be in this day and age.Â
âI can do thirty,â he said, shifting his weight in his seat before nodding down to the little droid at his side, who whistled in response.
âGuess weâll meet you in front of your ship, then?â
His knuckles tapped the table as he stood, âWorks out perfectly.âÂ
Fives didnât take long to disappear from sight, mostly by leaving the cantina. Heâd been specifically looking for someone heading in the same direction as his other passenger, itâd been extremely lucky to be heading toward the main planet of the moon he was taking her to. There was something a little curious about this new passenger, but he stopped asking questions to strangers a long time ago. It was a quick moment that he informed his other passenger of their guest, she seemed unenthusiastic but told her hunting partner to be nice. âAnything you can do about the smell?â He teased her before leaving to get the ship ready to leave as soon as the docking clearance was active.
He easily used up almost the entirety of the thirty minutes.
I almost forgot to draw something today. Apparently my default response to âoh shit I need an idea quickâ these days is âclones in pajama pants.â

Ah, well, that little tidbit of information sunk in like a mud-covered stone, and he felt the muscles of his left hand tense just slightly. But, he supposed that it made sense that this spacer would try to take as many passengers as he could, to maximise the profit, but the fact that it had been dropped upon him so suddenly didnât sit very well with the former Jedi. He rested his hand on R7â˛s dome, turning his head ever-so-slightly to the side.
âAs long as itâs not an Imp, Iâll play nice.â He shrugged, pushing his hand through his hair. If they were, then he would bolt, find a new way off this rock, and carry on from there. He wasnât in the mood to test his so-called âluckâ.
âAnd, as long as it doesnât slow us down, too much. Clients donât like waiting.â
An Imp, Fives knew his other passenger would be insulted by the accusation, so he wouldnât mention it to her. And gold eyes watched his new passenger closely, âSheâs in no rush to get where sheâs going.â He kind of liked the company of transporting passengers, they gave him someone to talk to.Â
His fingers tapped the table top gently, âThirty minutes to make your final preps. Weâre all in a tight spot to avoid the imps, then we want to get off this rock before the new regiment of stormies gets here.â He had his connections to this information anymore, from people he trusted a lot more than the intel he got in the GAR.
âYouâve never even met a girlâ is a great line because it tells us that Shaak Tiâa brain-meltingly gorgeous Togruta womanâis considered so unattainably off-limits by the Brothers that she hardly even rates as a real live person, let alone as a woman.

@offadingstars I know this is the wrong blog but tell me this doesnât scream Modern Day Artist! Grantaire. Heâd do this on the routes he knows Jack is working, just to give the cop a smile. Jack snaps pictures and sends them to him, asking if he did this.

saggitariisms:
Brow raised and eyes narrowed at the newfound pilotâs curiosity, and scarred arms crossed over his chest in quiet defensiveness.
âYeah, how much do I have to pay you to not ask questions?â He tosses a handful of credits on the table, leaning back until his chair was balanced on its back legs and he was staring up at the ceiling. He was well aware of how terrible the slugfest was going to be, as if it were ever a pleasant place to visit; as if he were any happier about going there than his pilot. âLetâs call it a business matter, and leave it at that, yeah?â A horribly illegitimate business matter, but that had stopped âmatteringâ a long time ago. Anything for a handful of credits, for enough to get a decent meal and a better than decent drink; anything to ease his senses and let his thoughts quiet and the Force feel a bit less muddled, even if it was only for a whileâŚ
His eyes flicked down to his glass when his habit was mentioned, brow popping up in dull curiosity before he shrugged and downed the rest. It was a fair enough rule, he supposed; he was paying for a flight, not a cruise liner. The additional remark had curiosity piquing for different reason, though he told himself he probably shouldnât go poking around himself after just insisting that the stranger mind his own. Still, there was something about that sentence, or perhaps about the way it was said, that nagged at the back of his mind. He wasnât sure what it was, but he knew that it was going to bother him for a long time. Setting his glass down with a dull thud, he stared at the other for a long moment before he relented with a sigh and glanced to the shipyard, squinting to peer through the filthy viewport and shifting his position to see if he could get a glimpse of the ship from where he sat. Eventually, his fidgeting proved successful, and he let out a hum.
âNice looking ship,â he said, settling into a comfortable position once again. âMust take good care of it.â
He caught the tone and he smirked, he couldnât help it. âTechnically, I could ask any question I wanted, and you are not required to answer.âÂ
Fives stood, grabbing his jacket and shrugging it on, âShe was a gift. I donât want them to think Iâm ungrateful for everything.â He started to walk away, then turned, âAh.. if you have a preference, I can drop you off first. My other passenger is going to one of the moons, so it is luck that weâve met.â If heâd asked a Jedi, and the Jedi werenât hunted at every turn, they might have called it the Will of the Force.
Actually, he wasnât entirely certain his current passenger would be as calm about this as the new one might be.Â
