Charlotte decided to throw a sleepover at Adéla’s house and basically forced Megan to come. “It’ll be fun, just us girls,” she said with that sweet-but-don’t-argue smile. Adéla didn’t seem too bothered, so Megan showed up with snacks and a fake chill attitude even though her stomach was in knots being around YN’s girlfriend and his sister.
They were all in pajamas, sprawled across Adéla’s big bed and the floor with fairy lights on, when Charlotte suggested Truth or Dare. At first it was light stuff — stupid secrets, worst kiss stories, who would rather eat a bug than kiss Mason. Then Charlotte turned to Megan with a mischievous little grin. “Who’s your crush right now? Like, real one.”
Megan froze. She could feel Adéla watching her too. There was no way she could say YN. Not here. Not ever. Her brain short-circuited and the first name that popped into her head came flying out.
The room went quiet for half a second before Charlotte and Adéla started squealing.
“NOAH?! My brother?!” Charlotte laughed, looking genuinely surprised but excited. “Oh my god, that’s actually kinda cute!”
Adéla raised an eyebrow but smirked. “Didn’t see that one coming. He’s been staring at you like a puppy for months though.”
Megan forced a laugh and tried to play it off, but inside she was dying. She spent the rest of the night nodding along while they teased her about Noah, her face burning the whole time.
YN read the messages and didn’t type a word. He just stared at his screen, jaw tight, that annoying twist in his chest coming back full force. He knew he had zero right to feel any type of way — he had Charlotte, and Megan was supposed to be like a little sister anyway. Still sucked to read.
He left the chat on read and tossed his phone on the bed.
YN never replied. Not to Caleb. Not to the group. Not to anyone. He just put his phone on silent and stared at the ceiling, trying to convince himself it didn’t bother him.
YN was lying on his bed staring at the ceiling, phone next to him. He had read Megan’s message at least five times.
That “I’m here” made his chest feel tight. He typed “thanks megs, I’m good” at least twice but deleted it every time.
He couldn’t bring himself to reply. Not when everything felt so fucked. Charlotte was his girlfriend. Megan was Adéla’s best friend. And now the whole group thought she liked Noah.
He locked his phone again and sighed.
