Charlotte decided to throw a sleepover at Adéla’s house and basically forced Megan to come. “It’ll be fun, just us girls,” she said with that sweet-but-don’t-argue smile. Adéla didn’t seem too bothered, so Megan showed up with snacks and a fake chill attitude even though her stomach was in knots being around YN’s girlfriend and his sister.

They were all in pajamas, sprawled across Adéla’s big bed and the floor with fairy lights on, when Charlotte suggested Truth or Dare. At first it was light stuff — stupid secrets, worst kiss stories, who would rather eat a bug than kiss Mason. Then Charlotte turned to Megan with a mischievous little grin. “Who’s your crush right now? Like, real one.”

Megan froze. She could feel Adéla watching her too. There was no way she could say YN. Not here. Not ever. Her brain short-circuited and the first name that popped into her head came flying out.

“…Noah.”

The room went quiet for half a second before Charlotte and Adéla started squealing.

“NOAH?! My brother?!” Charlotte laughed, looking genuinely surprised but excited. “Oh my god, that’s actually kinda cute!”

Adéla raised an eyebrow but smirked. “Didn’t see that one coming. He’s been staring at you like a puppy for months though.”

Megan forced a laugh and tried to play it off, but inside she was dying. She spent the rest of the night nodding along while they teased her about Noah, her face burning the whole time.

YN read the messages and didn’t type a word. He just stared at his screen, jaw tight, that annoying twist in his chest coming back full force. He knew he had zero right to feel any type of way — he had Charlotte, and Megan was supposed to be like a little sister anyway. Still sucked to read.

He left the chat on read and tossed his phone on the bed.

YN never replied. Not to Caleb. Not to the group. Not to anyone. He just put his phone on silent and stared at the ceiling, trying to convince himself it didn’t bother him.

YN was lying on his bed staring at the ceiling, phone next to him. He had read Megan’s message at least five times.

That “I’m here” made his chest feel tight. He typed “thanks megs, I’m good” at least twice but deleted it every time.

He couldn’t bring himself to reply. Not when everything felt so fucked. Charlotte was his girlfriend. Megan was Adéla’s best friend. And now the whole group thought she liked Noah.

At Adéla’s welcome-back party for Noah and Charlotte, the living room was packed and loud. Music was blasting, snacks were everywhere, and Adéla had gone full hostess mode with decorations and drinks. It was supposed to be a chill celebration, but for Y/N it felt like torture. He was leaning against the kitchen island, pretending to scroll on his phone, but his eyes kept drifting over to the couch where Noah had basically cornered Megan. Noah was talking nonstop about Paris, laughing way too loud, and touching Megan’s arm every two seconds like it was the most natural thing in the world. Megan was smiling politely, twisting the strap of her bag.

Caleb slid up next to YN with a beer in his hand, smirking like he already knew everything. “Bro, you’re doing that jaw thing again,” Caleb muttered, not even trying to hide how entertained he was. “Jealousy is not a good look on you, Romeo.” Y/N shot him a glare. “Shut up. I’m not jealous. It’s just… he gets back from Paris and the first person he runs to is Megan? After weeks away?” Caleb laughed quietly. “Yeah, and at your birthday you two were all close when she gave you that cologne. You hugged her for like forever. I saw it. You’ve got it bad.”

Y/N ran a hand through his hair. “Things felt different that night. She was all cute and excited… now Noah’s back acting like she’s the only person in the room.” “Exactly,” Caleb said, taking a sip. “You’re over here catching feelings for your little sister’s best friend while your actual girlfriend is ten feet away talking to Adéla. This is messy as hell.” Before Y/N could reply, Noah laughed at something Megan said and leaned in closer. Y/N’s stomach did this annoying twist. Charlotte was across the room, completely clueless, laughing with Adéla about something from the trip. Y/N muttered. “He just asked her to grab coffee to ‘catch up.’ Can you believe that shit?” Caleb grinned wider. “I told you. Fix your face before Adéla notices. If she finds out her big brother is jealous over Megan… she’ll end you.”

Y/N sighed, forcing himself to look away. “Just keep it between us, okay? Please.” “I got you,” Caleb said, clapping him on the shoulder. Across the room Megan’s eyes met Y/N’s for a split second. She quickly looked back at Noah, cheeks turning pink, while Y/N felt that uncomfortable pull in his chest getting stronger.
