it's wildly embarrassing that you kids are trying to cancel steve when the show pretty much outright stated that dustin is and has been in the wrong. it's been eighteen months of this. eighteen months of him treating everyone around him like shit because he wants them to be in as much pain as he's in. he can't go more than thirty seconds without being genuinely cruel to people. he's walking around with a death wish. he's turning into one of the bullies.

but steve's the problem? because he snapped after eighteen months of this continuous bullshit?

you cannot be serious.

the bottom line is that dustin is grieving and angry and having a hard time, yes, but pain does not excuse your bad behavior. i think that's really the crux of the issue in the fandom right now. a lot of people seem to think that because he's hurting that means his actions should be handwaved away and steve should just sit there and take it. that's not how life works. how you treat people matters. always. you don't actually get to intentionally hurt the people who love you (and yourself, for that matter) and have there be zero consequences just because you're going through something.
