The best friend character whose only personality is being supportive of the protagonist. she has no problems of her own. no ambitions. no storyline. she exists only to ask "are you okay" and say "you deserve better" and show up with snacks during the sad montage. she is a human mood board for the main character's emotional journey and then the book ends and we know nothing about her life. who is she. what does she want. does she ever have a bad day. i need her to have ONE bad day. for me.

You know that whatever character did those problematic things isn't like. Real, right?

You are aware that a fictional character is just a rhetorical construct designed to fulfill a narrative/thematic purpose right? That their actions are written by an author who wants to use them to explore complex ideas and moral gray areas within the safe confines of fiction right? That they aren't a real person who has killed real people right?

Stop writing your extrovert as someone who never shuts up and is exhausting to be around. That's a bad extrovert, not extroversion. A well-written extrovert thinks out loud, they don't know what they feel until they're saying it to someone. They use conversation to process. What looks like oversharing is actually them figuring themselves out in real time. They need the other person there not to listen but to exist. The other person being in the room is what makes the thought happen. Write that. It's fascinating.
