A lot of the people in the village weren’t welcoming to Inés and her father, especially to Inés because of her ethnicity. Ezekiel and his wife were the first people to befriend Inés and helped her and her father. Inés likes Ezekiel and considers him one of her closest friends.

As for Señor de Villanueva, he didn’t like him from the start because Ezekiel is close with his daughter. I don’t think de Villanueva cares too much about Ezekiel being an atheist, he just doesn’t like anyone who isn’t catholic lol 😅 I like to think he warmed up to Ezekiel eventually for supporting Inés and being her friend

Since she's a West Indian woman from the 17th century, there isn’t much information about them. I had to do as much research as I could to get her story timeline accurate. Had me studying nd shii 😭🙏 It was like working on a research paper for a history class.

I added more on my plate by shipping her with a 17th century priest whose silhouette we’ve only just seen so far. No name or personality either. Well, at least here I get to be a little more creative and come up with HCs and designs for him.

Those things don’t even take into account the show’s art style. It’s definitely a challenging style to replicate.
