THE ELEVENTH CIRCLE, ANABASEIOS
He was aetherial. And she was not unlike a goddess of old.
Themis transformed into a divine being of Light and Dark, and beneath his other-wordly, ancient cowl, his eyes glimmered in anticipation as his heart quivered.
Sloane glanced up at him, the golden stone of her diadem reflecting the gold of the chamber of the Fourteen, and she smiled. It mattered not that this battle was Athena's design, it mattered not if Themis was the one standing in her way. She knew for certain that he would turn to her side.
Sloane unsheathed Cronus, its golden, luminous blade purring in preparation. "I do not intend to leave this place in defeat, nor without you, Themis." Her voice was silken with determined joy.
Themis offered her a smile of his own. "Then let us not waste time."
And a song of Light and Dark began. Pure, joyous, and bittersweet. Violet engulfed the arena, and Sloane spun to evade and strike at his heels, earning a surprised chuckle. Then gold covered the edges, and she vanished in shadow and reappeared before him, surging with the abyss, and her laughter was Themis's favorite melody in that feeting moment.
Sloane quieted her mind and called upon her shadow, and when Fray emerged, it was a dance that the chamber witnessed.
A dance of shadow, a song of light. A clash of lost time and sorrows forgotten.
"YES!" Sloane rejoiced when Themis struck his dual spear against her greatsword, and soft, deep laughter rumbled from his aetherial throat.
"Such is your joy, my friend." His guiding star.
"Are you not enjoying yourself so?" She breathed with a radiant smile.
Themis pressed forward. "As I had never before."
Sloane smiled again before roaring. He stepped back at Cronus's mighty strike, and as shadow, warm and lined with gold engulfed the field.
"And full glad am I to hear that." She spoke with a tenderness that contrasted with her stance.
And when that shadowed wing sprung from Sloane's back, Themis painted the memory of her radiant smile and her warm, violet gaze within his mind.
And welcomed defeat with open arms.
