Carry On Wayward Sons.
Well, my best friend and I have been planning the next long range rurex expedition. Work schedules, vacation time etc. Keep an eye on this page.
Hey man, my name's Drew, I'm a fan of your shots and your adventures. I also do a bunch of shooting/ filming with Nikkor lenses strapped on my 7D. Anyhow, aside from my own stuff (freight train hopping, graffiti, motorcycle trips etc.), I work for a broadcast television network. A good one. I showed them your work, and they wanted to know if you would be interested in doing a television series. We could discuss things like keeping the locations secret and the way you would like it made. Thanks!
C’mon man, are you for real? I am seriously flattered, but really? Like an interview for a series?
Great job man
Great job man. locations, lighting, composition, overall subject matter, consistency of exposure,
you’ve got it going on. keep up the good work.
from your friends over here at massdecay.com
Best,

WOW, THANKS! Been at this a long time. Have an art opening in Chicago 1 May and getting props from fellow explorers means a lot!! Totally made my day!

Not exactly a "Then and Now" but I saw this photo and the comparison was cool. My photo is of the inside of a panzerwerk of the Neckar-Enz line of bunkers. Looking towards where the stove would have been.
Note the ceiling and the hooks in the ceiling correspond to how the bunks are hung up.
TDY in Germany while on deployment. I managed to Urbex a bunker of the Neckar-Enz line. Built in the mid 1930s, this line used two rivers and a series of 450 bunkers stretched along 90km of riverfront. Set back from the later built west wall, the Neckar-Enz line was the last major obstacle to US forces during the last stages of the war.
This particular bunker still had a lot of the original stenciled rules inside, despite obvious vandalism.
Top photo: Looking into a bunker on the Neckar-Enz line. One of 450 bunkers along 86Km of river. This was a serious hold up to the US advance into Germany in the spring of 1945. The line held the US back for 12 days.
Bottom Photo: The embrasure that protected the entrance is to the right, the exterior embrasure is at the end of this passageway and covers the approaches to the bunker.
Here you can see the extent of smoke damage to the interior. Some bright bulb decided to torch a couple of mattresses.
More stencils inside a bunker on the Neckar-Enz line in west central Germany. In this room, some idiots burned several mattresses and the walls are discolored. The third shot is the MG embrasure that protected the two entrances.
Original stenciled rules within a German bunker on the Neckar-Enz line.

Bunker along the Neckar-Enz line in Germany. Despite 70+ years and vandalism, the interior is surprisingly intact.
