imho the fandom has always assumed jayce would sell viktor out for 1 cornchip or projected gleeful violence into his actions in a way that simply isn't true. "Jayce is going to exile viktor" "Jayce is going to stand with the piltover occupation and hunt viktor down" "Jayce is going to betray viktor" -- I really don't understand the thought process here and why this take is so popular.

The guy who kicked out the president so viktor could do black magic is going to turn on him? The guy who negotiated for the independence of Zaun after ONE WEEK of seeing corruption games play out is going to exile his partner of god knows how many years????????

The guy who literally tells silco "I am trying to save your people from annihilation" is the all-evil monster lurking in the shadows? let's take a minute to unpack. We didn't watch the same show

I think the reason why people are thinking this is because they're expecting Arcane Jayce to evolve naturally to OG League Jayce, and that is possible, yes, but right now, they have a wildly different interpretation of the character.

The OG League one is an asshole that could be sweet in the inside. The Arcane one is sweet but has the potential to be an asshole.

Kidding, I kid.

I like to think of it as:

OG League is a wolf. He bites. He likes his solitude. He is rough around people.

Arcane is a golden retriever. He is touchy, kinda clingy. Loves his bond with people.

And the main difference between these two is their relationship with their other half. The former think of it as a lost opportunity. The latter already had the glorious experience of working with Vicky long term.

The wolf and the dog might be in the same family but they are two waaay different animals.

Or I could be wrong. I dunno. I'm bad at reading people.

League Jayce is still not evil! League Jayce is not cruel or unkind. He only tells on Viktor to the academy board when Viktor /decides to add brainwashing to their shared work project & won't take no for an answer/ and even then jayce regrets the way viktor is thrown out of the institution, and the obvious impact it has on his mental wellbeing. When he approaches viktor in his lab he apologizes.

We see jayce treating his forgeworkers like equals (in legends of runeterra) who deserve the utmost dignity and credit for their contributions. We see him being exceedingly polite to viktor and trusting him again when he offers to work together. (in the LoR comic too) No version of Jayce is a monster people just misinterpret him and pass it off as canon. Jayce from league is socially standoffish, but always, always, seeking improvement.
