Shang Tsung: “Jax on the other hand, has officially completed his matches for this round. You three will now be safe until the next round. I trust to see you three in one piece once the time comes.” The sorcerer confirms. Before anyone can say anything, Megan and Shang Tsung walk away, heading to their quarters as well, the couple finally ready to settle in for the night and get some peace and quiet before the fights resume the following day.
(The next day; Shang Tsung & Megan’s pov)
Shang Tsung: “Megan? Megan, my dear, it’s time to wake up.” The sound of Shang Tsung’s voice causes Megan to stir.
Megan: “Why? What time is it?” Megan questions, groggy and still half asleep.
Shang Tsung: “It is currently dawn.”
Megan: “Wait, why are we getting up at dawn?”
Shang Tsung: “Did you forget about the tournament, my love?” The sorcerer brings up, sitting on the bed beside where Megan is laying in their shared bed, just lovingly rubbing her back and shoulders. Megan’s groans, thoughts of the tournament coming to her sleep addled mind.
Megan: “Can’t we sleep for a few more minutes, Tsung? You did keep me up last night.” This causes him to smirk, knowing his wife would want more sleep, with Megan being a night owl, preferring to stay up and partake in her hobbies.
Shang Tsung: “My apologies, dear, but I’m afraid we can’t. This is an important tournament, and someone has to host it.”
Megan: “Fine, fine, I’ll get up.” Megan agrees hesitantly, Shang Tsung smiling softly down at her as she shifted herself awake and sat up in their bed.
Shang Tsung: “I’ve laid some outfits out in the bathroom for you to choose from. I will get breakfast ready as you take your shower.”
Megan: “Thank you, babe. Whatever would I do without you?” Megan smiles, sighing in disbelief that the sorcerer would do all of this for her, him often seeming self-absorbed at times.
Shang Tsung: “As for this morning, probably peacefully sleeping the morning away. As far as in your life, you’d probably still be slaving away for Shao Kahn, killing and dealing with whoever he didn’t want to himself.” The sorceress smiles, knowing that her husband was correct.
Megan: “You’re not wrong. Even though we still technically do the second one.” The two smile, knowing this was true. The couple then give each other a quick peck on the lips before going off and starting their days, Tsung going to start on breakfast, Megan going to the bathroom to take her shower.
Once out, Megan wraps herself in her luxurious towels that Shang Tsung had graciously given her when they had moved in together along with the other fancy things that he’s given her. She looks over the outfits that her husband had laid out for her to choose from for that day and picks the one that drew her attention and heads to the kitchen where she knew her family would be.
Megan: “Good morning, Cyrus!”
Cyrus: “Morning, mom!” The boy smiles, barely looking up from his plate full of food. Shang Tsung then looks behind him to see Megan sitting down at the small but fancy eating table, Shang Tsung then finishing up before walking towards Megan with two plates, one hers while the other one was his.
Megan: “Thank you again, Tsung." Megan smiles, turning towards her husband as he sits down, the sorcerer couple starting on eating their meals.
Cyrus: “Yeah, thanks dad! What’s the occasion?” Cyrus questions before taking a bite of his food.
Shang Tsung: “I thought that since it was the tournament, and that neither you nor your mother are ones for getting up this early, I thought I’d treat the both of you as well as Reptile, as I know that you both care for him.”
Megan: “Speaking of, where is Syzoth?”
Shang Tsung: “He’s out getting things ready for today’s matches. Keeping an eye on the viable contestants and making sure that nothing goes array.”
Cyrus: “Shouldn’t we be out there as well? As the owners of this island?” Cyrus brings up as he rinses off his plate, having finished his breakfast.
Shang Tsung: “You may go and help Syzoth if you wish. Me and your mother will stay behind for a bit longer.”
Cyrus: “That’s fine by me. Just be sure to not get too caught up and lose track of time.” Cyrus smirks before exiting the room, leaving his parents alone. Shang Tsung chooses to ignore this, turning back to Megan, both of them eating their breakfast.
Megan: “Thank you for cooking my favorites, love.” Megan smiles, placing a kiss on her husband’s cheek.
Shang Tsung: “Of course.”
Megan: “Would you like me to fix your favorites for dinner?” Megan brings up, wanting to do something nice for her husband after all of the things he’d done for her.
Shang Tsung: “If you’re offering.” The sorcerer smiles back, leaning in and placing a kiss on Megan’s lips, both having finished their breakfast, Megan’s lips latching onto his, deepening the kiss, now that Megan and Tsung got to enjoy each other’s presence in peace. Before the two could get too heated, Megan stops, gently pushing Shang Tsung away.
Megan: “As much as I would like to continue this, I think we should listen to Cyrus’ advice. We had personal time last night and we can have more personal time tonight.” The sorcerer slightly frowns but nods.
Shang Tsung: “Very well.” The couple then gets up, rinsing their plates before intertwining their hands together, elegantly exiting their palace to start the day and continue the tournament.
(Cyrus’ pov)
Cyrus walks out of his family’s mansion, standing on the right side of the entrance, waiting for his parents to exit to start the tournament
Syzoth: “Are we ready to begin?” The Zaterran questions, standing on the left side of the entrance.
Cyrus: “Not yet. We must wait for mother and father. Just hopefully they don’t take too long.” After a while, Shang Tsung and Megan walk out of the Shang Mansion hand in hand, Cyrus and Syzoth following them. Cyrus behind his mother, and Syzoth behind Shang Tsung.
The sorcerer couple don’t stop until they get to their podium, sitting at the two fancy chairs that Cyrus and Syzoth had set out for them, Cyrus standing beside Megan's chair, Syzoth sitting beside Shang Tsung’s.
Scorpion looks around, not recognizing anyone, not even the hosts of the island that were currently walking out before him.
Scorpion: “Who are those people? They are not Lin-Kuei nor Bi-Han, so why are we here?”
Spyte: “Easy, Scorpy, you’ll get your revenge.”
Quan Chi: “They are the Shang Family. Shang Tsung, his wife; Megan Shang, their son; Cyrus Shang; and their servant; Reptile. They own this island.” The leather-cladded sorcerer explains, causing Spyte to silently grit their teeth at the mention of Shang Tsung, despising the thought of the old man.
Scorpion: “So, they know where Bi-Han is.”
Kage: “They do. But in order to do so, you’re going to have to fight in the tournament.”
Spyte: “Or wait until nightfall when people are going to be going to their rooms. That’s how some of the Earthrealmers have completed their three matches already. You see, the Shangs have eyes and ears everywhere, so anyone that goes sneaking and snooping around at night, them and their allies know about it.”
Scorpion: “Then I shall compete.” The wraith nods, hellfire lighting his eyes, matching the bright sun that shone over the island.
Shang Tsung: “That is marvelous to hear. You must be Scorpion, yes?” Shang Tsung piques, Cyrus and Syzoth standing on either side of the hosts of the tournament.
Scorpion: “I am. I will face Bi-Han!” Raiden and Kami then begin to see their visions again, of Scorpion ripping out the spine of a ninja-clad in blue, who they could only assume to be Bi-Han, with that being who Scorpion was requesting to fight. After this they see visions of this blue ninja massacring a clan along with a woman and her child, these rival ninjas then killing the man they saw in front of them, but in a more alive state, the two thunder gods able to put two and two together.
Kami: “Oh… so that’s why he’s here… that’s why he wants to face Bi-Han so badly…” She mumbles in a melancholic tone, feeling bad for the specter that stood before her. Kami goes to walk up to speak to him, but before she can she is stopped by her father.
Raiden: I will speak to him.” The thunder god then walks up to Scorpion, arms outstretched in a peaceful manner.
Raiden: “Hanzo Hasashi. I understand your desire for revenge, but there are other ways to find peace.” The wraith then turns around.
Scorpion: “How do you know my name?”
Raiden: “I am Raiden, god of lightning, and defender of Earthrealm.”
Scorpion: “Then you should know that Sub-Zero deserves death!”
Raiden: “Defeat Bi-Han if you must, but do not kill him. I fear his death will do nothing but create a new and more dangerous foe.”
Scorpion: “That would be a fair proposition if he did not strike first by killing me and my family and clan. Had the Lin Kuei considered your logic, I would not be here in this condition, serving for the Netherrealm!” Scorpion’s eyes glow once again, this time some hellfire flames arising from the undead ninja, burning a bit of Raiden’s clothes in his anger. He then turns to the Shangs that were staring at the two from the podium. “If you shall not allow me to face Bi-Han at this moment, then allow me to battle Raiden.” Megan and Shang Tsung then look at each other before nodding.
Shang Tsung: “You may.” The sorcerer smiles, not really being fond of the thunder god, so seeing this undead specter wanting to battle Raiden as his first match, how could he say no? After a while of the thunder god vs hellfire wraith fight, Scorpion manages to come out victorious, Raiden holding back, not wanting to fight, while Hanzo was fully committed, wanting to be able to face Sub-Zero.
Raiden: “You did as well, Hasashi. I’m sorry about your family and clan.”
Scorpion: “It was not your fault.” Scorpion goes to walk away, but Kami stops him, walking up to him.
Kami: “How would you like for them to be brought back? At least your clan?” This catches his attention, his head snapping to where Kami was standing beside her father.
Scorpion: “Bring them back? How?”
Kami: “Me, my father, and my uncle are demigods. I’m sure that if we put in a word with the Elder Gods, that I’m sure that they’d be willing to bring your clan back to life.” Hanzo thinks on this, not knowing what to say.
Scorpion: “I will consider your deal.”
Megan: “With that being said, I’ve noticed that your anger has decreased. Would you like to continue here? Or would you like to step away? Your progress will still be tracked should you battle anyone, so you leaving the stage will not affect your record.”
Scorpion: “I would like to go back to my room. Notify me when Bi-Han is ready to fight.” He responds.
Megan: “Will do.” Megan smiles as she siphons a bit of his soul to be able to summon him back whenever it was Bi-Han’s time to fight.
Quan Chi: “Spyte, go with him.” Quan Chi commands as Scorpion walks away from the crowd.
Spyte: “Yes, sir.” Spyte bows before going after his undead companion.
Kage: “What about me, sir?” The oni asks curiously.
Quan Chi: “You stay here. I need someone to stay here at the tournament in case anything happens.” The pale man orders, Kage nodding.
(Scorpion and Spyte’s pov)
Spyte: “Wait! Scorpion! Slow down!”
Scorpion: “Why are you here Spyte?” Hanzo questions, slowing down.
Spyte: “Quan Chi asked and I obliged. I can’t stand him nor Shang Tsung, so whatever time I get away from them I relish.”
Scorpion: “A sentiment that we share.” The specter agrees as Spyte catches up, walking by Scorpion’s side.
Spyte: “Then why do you serve him?” The Chaosrealmer hybrid questions.
Scorpion: “To win back my family and clan.”
Spyte: “Then why not accept Raiden and Kami’s deal? It seemed pretty genuine.”
Scorpion: “I want to earn their return.” He explains.
Spyte: “Ah, I see. So does that mean you’re still going to battle Bi-Han?”
Scorpion: “I must so me, my family and clan can be at rest.” The two then hear footsteps and voices coming from the direction they were walking towards but couldn’t see due to the island’s morning fog.
Sektor: “Then allow us to put you down early.” The Lin Kuei interjects, him and Cyrax stepping out of the fog.
Spyte: “Maybe it’s a good thing that facepaint sent me after you.”
Cyrax: “Don’t think that we don’t know about you, hybrid!”
Spyte: “Oh so the magic men have told you about me as well? How thoughtful.”
Sektor: “We know how to end you two for good! You will pay for Quan Chi’s betrayal.”
Spyte: “Couldn’t you at least treat us first? Before netting us and bombarding us with missiles?”
Cyrax: “We will shut you up, freak!” Spyte and Cyrax then fight each other, both entering the tournament by doing so. As Spyte and Cyrax are duking it out, Sektor and Scorpion near each other.
Scorpion: “I will have revenge for my family and clan. If I must face you to get to Bi-Han, then so be it!”
Sektor: “You will not last long enough to see that revenge through, zombie, I will make sure of that for the honor of the Lin Kuei, that you are dealt with!” This then begins their fight, entering Sektor into the grand tournament. After some fierce kombat, Spyte and Scorpion are victorious, defeating the iron man ninjas.
Spyte: “Well that was easy. For them to have all of their enhancements.”
Scorpion: “They were mere Lin Kuei dogs. My target is Bi-Han!” Before Spyte could reply, Hanzo is turned into a white mist and is teleported back to the tournament stage thanks to Megan’s soul ability, her having taken a bit of Scorpion’s soul when he had left.
Spyte: “Damn sorcerers!” The Saurian Chaosrealmer curses, recognizing the color of the magic, teleporting to where Scorpion had gone, back to where Spyte was beside Quan Chi.
(Back at the tournament, still in Scorpion and Spyte’s pov)
Quan Chi: “Great job on entering the tournament, Spyte. You really proved your worth taking on those Lin Kuei.”
Spyte: “Listen, baldy, I only came back because of Megan teleporting Scorpion to fight Bi-Han, and you told me to follow him.”
Quan Chi: “Don’t be getting snippy with me, Spyte. You still have two fights, don’t make me hand you back over to your creator.”
Spyte: “Fine, I’ll cooperate.” Their attention then moves to Scorpion and Bi-Han, where everyone else’s attention was held, the whole island wanting to see how this would go down.
Varian: "Remember Hanzo, you don’t have to kill Bi-Han.” Varian then pauses. While she would have liked to say more, a chill is felt by everyone watching the tournament, a blue ninja then walking from Megan’s side beside Cyrus, having been summoned by the blue and white cladded sorceress.
Bi-Han: “Will not, or can not, insect?”
Scorpion: “As long as you are defeated, I will get my family back.”
Bi-Han: “You will never get them back, Hanzo. Can’t you see that you’re being manipulated just as I was?” This causes Raiden’s group to raise a brow, Kami and Raiden getting another vision, this time of the true culprit of the massacre of the Shirai Ryu clan. Quan Chi.
Raiden: “Hanzo, Bi-Han is correct! You must not fight!”
Kami: “We speak the truth! The real culprit is-”
Scorpion: “As long as Bi-Han is in front of me, he is my opponent!”
Varian: “That is not how this works Hanzo! You can request another opponent. Hell, you can fight me if you want!” This causes the wraith to shake his head.
Scorpion: “I’ve already faced two random opponents. Raiden and Cyrax. My mission is to defeat Bi-Han, and I never fail a mission.” Raiden’s group then turns to the Shangs, them being the only ones that could properly handle this, with this being their island and their tournament.
Shang Tsung: “Scorpion has stated his request. Who are we to deny him his wish?”
Varian and Spyte have similar reactions to this statement, wishing to punch or shred the old man into pieces, but both are stopped, saying that this is not their fight. Varian being stopped by Fujin and Andrius, Spyte being stopped by Quan Chi and Kage.
Megan then gestures for the two to fight, Bi-Han moving his hands to create an ice ball, and Scorpion generating hellfire all around his body. The two ninjas battle it out, ice and fire shooting everywhere. After a while of battling, Scorpion teleports behind Sub-Zero, and uses one of the cryomancer’s moves against him, ripping out Bi-Han’s spine, shocking everyone on the island, including the hosts of the island.
The whole island was silent.
Even the sky began to weep, it now starting to rain.
Shang Tsung: “Everyone to the lobby!” Shang Tsung shouts, taking his jacket off and putting it over Megan’s shoulders.
Shang Tsung: “Now that everyone’s inside, let the fighting continue! We will continue stage matches once the rain stops, so in the meantime, battle as you wish!” At the sorcerer’s words, everyone splits off to different parts of the building, some staying in the main lobby. Megan staying with her husband, Cyrus and Syzoth still on either side of the couple.
Another of the groups that stayed on the ground floor was the Netherrealm group; Quan Chi, Spyte, Kage, and Scorpion chatting in one of the corners away from the Shangs.
Quan Chi: “Excellent job, Scorpion! A flawless victory!”
Spyte: “But was it truly necessary? He doesn’t even know the truth-”
Quan Chi: “And he will never know, Spyte.” The necromancer warns, power in his voice.
Scorpion: “The truth about what, sorcerer?”
Quan Chi: “See what you have started, Spyte? Now the insect is asking questions!”
Spyte: “He deserves to know what truly happened that day, egghead!”
Quan Chi: “Not for as long as I thrive, half-breed.” And this is all it takes for Spyte to land a right hook to the necromancer’s jaw, growing tired of his needlessly evil drivel.
Spyte: “And you wonder why people despise you.” The Chaos-Suarian growls, venom dripping from every word they spoke, before striking, starting their match, in which they win, kicking Quan Chi in the stomach as hard as they can to cement their victory.
After the fight, Spyte is left panting and sweating, not hearing the clapping of someone in the room until the person approaches them, the noise of clapping and footsteps drawing their attention.
Rebellius: ?dirbyh, niaga eman ruoy saw tahW !boj gnizamA” (Amazing job! What was your name again, hybrid?)
Spyte: “?uoy era lleh eht ohW .etypS” (Spyte. Who the hell are you)
Rebellius: “.ihC nauQ fo sdnah eht ta esimed etanutrofnu s’kivaH retfa soahC fo cirelC eht ma I .suillebeR em llac yam uoY” (You may call me Rebellius. I am the Cleric of Chaos after Havik’s unfortunate demise at the hands of Quan Chi.)
Spyte: “?gnihtemos ro uoy ot leenk ot em tnaw uoY .em ekil enoemos gnidualppa si uoy ekil enoemos yhw s’taht oS” (So that’s why someone like you is applauding someone like me. You want me to kneel to you or something?)
Rebellius: “.mlaersoahC ym ni emoclew si soahc llA .tca na hcus eriuqer ton od I” (I do not require such an act. All chaos is welcome in my Chaosrealm.)
Spyte: “?em ekil tnemirepxe na rof nevE” (Even for an experiment like me?)
Rebellius: “.namuh ylurt si nam taht fi rednow I semitemoS .od I ekil soahc ni ytuaeb eht sees ta eh, stnemirepxe sih rof rerecros eht esipsed I elihW !esruoc fO” (Of course! I despise the sorcerer for his experiments, he at least sees the beauty in chaos like I do. Sometimes I wonder if that man is truly human.)
Spyte: “.mih htiw gnieb rof snosaer reh sah ehs erus m’I hguoht, yltsenoh nageM rof dab leef I .emit eht lla ihC nauQ dna gnusT gnahS tuoba taht rednow I” (I wonder that about Shang Tsung and Quan Chi all the time. I feel bad for Megan honestly, though I’m sure she has her reasons for being with him.)
Rebellius: “.hguoht elpuoc toh a ekam od yehT” (They do make a hot couple though.) Spyte ignores this, still curious as to why Rebellius was speaking to them.
Spyte: “?cirelC, em morf gnihtemos tnaw uoy diD” (Did you want something from me, Cleric?)
Rebellius: “.gnilliw eb d’uoy fi thgif a dnA .tahc a rof revo klaw d’I thguoht I, erofeb nees t’nevah I taht remlaersoahC a er’uoy taht gniredisnoc dna, ihC nauQ decaf uoy woh was I lleW” (Well I saw how you faced Quan Chi, and considering that you’re a Chaosrealmer that I haven’t seen before, I thought I’d walk over for a chat. And a fight if you’d be willing.)
Spyte: “.flesmeht soahC fo cirelC eht tsniaga eb llew sa thgim ti, tnemanruot eht fo egats siht ni tfel hctam eno evah I hguoht sa gniees dnA. remlaersoahC trap ma I” (I am part Chaosrealmer. And seeing as though I have one match left in this stage of the tournament, it might as well be against the Cleric of Chaos themself.)
Rebellius: “!etypS, tirips eht s’tahT !yltcaxE” (Exactly! That’s the spirit, Spyte!) The eye-patched man smiles as he strikes Spyte, starting their fight. Despite Spyte giving the fight their all, Rebellius can sense that Spyte wasn’t using their full strength, allowing Rebellius to win the fight.
Rebellius: “!em netaeb ylisae ev’dluoc uoY ?niw em tel uoy did yhw, tiaW” (Wait, why did you let me win? You could’ve easily beaten me!)
Spyte: “.sehctam ym fo eerht lla niw em gnivah fo noitcafsitas eht gnusT gnahS ron ihC nauQ evig ot tuoba ton m’I dna, hctam tsrif ruoy tsol uoy tub, evah dluoc I” (I could have, but you lost your first match, and I’m not about to give Quan Chi nor Shang Tsung the satisfaction of having me win all three of my matches.)
Rebellius: “.ees I” (I see.) Before anyone else could say anything, they are interrupted by Scorpion, who Spyte forgot was still there.
Scorpion: “If you’re finished, do you mind telling me what you and Quan Chi were talking about?”
Spyte: “Oh yeah. You see, while Bi-Han was the hand that killed you, your family and your clan, he was just a mere puppet, such as you are now. A puppet that Quan Chi uses to do whatever he wants so that he doesn’t have to get his hands dirty. In short, Quan Chi is the one who killed you and your loved ones, Bi-Han being just as much of a victim as you are.” This explanation causes Scorpion to freeze, not expecting for the man that he’d been blindly following this whole time was his murderer, Hanzo, having killed an innocent man.
Scorpion: “So you’re saying that Bi-Han was innocent this whole time? That the person that I should have murdered should have been Quan Chi.”
Spyte: "Basically, yes. Though no one blames you for going after Bi-Han. You didn’t know, and Quan Chi wasn’t ever gonna tell you or let anyone else tell you.”
Scorpion: “Do you think Raiden and his group would forgive me?”
Spyte: “I’m sure that Raiden and Kami already know what happened with the help of their amulets. I’d still talk with them at some point, as I’m sure they’d be willing to sort something out.” Scorpion then nods before walking off, needing to think more on what Spyte had just told him, and with Quan Chi being out cold, Spyte saw no reason to follow him.

We begin Genesis’ events in the aftermath of Armageddon, dead bodies strewn about, on and around a giant pyramid. The camera pans around the sight of large vultures feasting upon the corpses, some of the bodies having recognizable weapons laid near or protruding out of them. As the camera gets closer to the pyramid, we can begin to hear the sounds of a fight coming from the top of the giant structure.
Following these sounds, we see Dark Raiden battling Taven. Taven had just defeated Blaze, but that wasn’t enough to save him from Dark Raiden’s wrath. Raiden would be the one to win, he must be the one to win. He was the protector and defender of Earthrealmer after all, and Fujin nor Liu Kang just weren’t up to the task in the dark god’s eyes, their corpses littering the pyramid along the other dozens of bodies that surrounded him.
Raiden: “You have battled valiantly, Taven. But I am afraid you have reached your end. Earthrealm will prevail.”
Taven: “Look around you, Raiden! Earthrealm is no more! The only things of Earthrealm remaining here are you and Kami! Can’t you see that? You’re just fighting for yourself like the rest of us at this point!”
Raiden: “If you think Earthrealm is lost you are mistaken. As long as I live, Earthrealm will thrive. I doubt a son of Argus would understand.”
Kami: “While we know how Argus can be, Taven is correct, father. Look around you. Look at all of the bodies that litter the pyramid and beyond. Bodies that belong to friends and foes alike. To say that any realm is thriving at the moment would be a flat out lie unless you were to the Netherrealm or potentially the Chaosrealm.”
Raiden: “You dare speak back to me? My own daughter?”
Kami: “Well, yeah. I’m not about to follow you through this narcissistic version of you, when we’re probably going to die anyways! I’d rather die in battle, fighting for my ideals, rather than the twisted ones from the dark version of my father!”
Raiden: “Then so be it.” Raiden then powers up his lighting, glowing a bright red from Raiden’s darkness.
Kami: “W-What? You were actually going to strike me down!? What the hell, dad!?” Kami shouts in disbelief. This somehow snaps Raiden out of his darkness to see Taven’s fried corpse that lies between him and his daughter.
Raiden: “D-Did I do that?”
Kami: “Uh, yeah… if Taven hadn’t’ve moved me aside, that would’ve been me… you didn’t like that I had disagreed with you, so you were going to strike me down…” Raiden doesn’t respond. That’s when his pocket begins to glow. Raiden takes out his amulet, it having a large crack in the middle of it. Kami takes out her own, seeing that hers was in a similar condition.
Kami walks towards Raiden, so they could compare their amulets as their amulets continued to crack.
Kami: “What does the cracking mean, father? Does it mean our end?”
Raiden: “I assume so. If that is the case, we should leave a message for anyone who could hear us.” The two then speak into their amulets as they begin to crack away more and more, until both end up cracking into dust.
Kami: “What now, father?”
Raiden: “I-I don’t know.”
Kage: “Good, because we do!” The pink oni shouts, as she and Shao Kahn are seen climbing up the pyramid and walking towards Kami and Raiden.
Shao: “Let’s start with bashing your heads in! Your time is up, thunder gods!”
Kage: “And shredding you to pieces!” Kage then pounces on Kami, being true to her word and shredding the goddess apart with her flaws and teeth sinking into her flesh as Shao decapitates Raiden with his gigantic warhammer, the two thunder gods being no more.
Once the bright light fades, we see the two thunder gods standing beside Fujin, Iris, Varian, Andrius, Kung Lao and Liu Kang. Looking around we can see that the group are at Shang Tsung’s Mortal Kombat tournament. As they look around, they can see several familiar faces.
Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Kenshi Takahashi, Nightwolf/Erron Black, Bi-Han, Cyrax, Sektor, Zale, Justus, Spyte, Scorpion, Quan Chi, Reptile, Floyd, Rebellius, Jade, Kitana, Skarlet, Cyrus, Goro, and Kintaro, Megan and Shang Tsung currently no where in sight, despite this being their island and tournament.
Liu Kang: Lord Raiden! What is wrong?”
Fujin: “Are you alright, brother?”
Kung Lao: “Lady Kami, are you ok? You look unwell.”
Iris: “Kami, dearest, do you need anything? Andrius is here if you are feeling ill.”
Varian: “Yeah! Andi can patch you two right up! Right Andrius?” Kami interjects before Andrius can respond.
Kami: “Thank you all, but I think I’ll be fine for now.”
Raiden: “I feel the same here. I just had the strangest visions…” Raiden and Kami then pull out their amulets to see that both of them are cracked.
Andrius: “Raiden, Kami! Your amulets! But we’ve been standing here the entire time! What in the realms is going on?”
Raiden: “It is nothing that you should worry yourself over, Andrius. I believe the tournament is about to start, so let’s divert our attention there for the time being.” The rest of the group nods, listening to Raiden’s words and not wanting to prod any further.
The camera then pans elsewhere, it now following Megan and Shang Tsung, Megan wearing an elegant dark blue dress, heeled boots, and freshly applied lipstick, while Shang Tsung wore a pretty casual looking outfit, at for for his status, Shang Tsung wearing purple pants, a green shirt, black boots, purple leather fingerless gloves, and a black leather jacket with a red and orange Asian dragon design on the back of it.
Shang Tsung stands in the middle of where the Outworld side was standing, between the Edenians, Goro, Kinataro, Quan Chi and Scorpion. Megan goes to stand with the other Edenians so she’s out of the way, but Shang Tsung grabs her gently by the waist and brings Megan to his side. While Megan is surprised by this, she doesn’t complain, appreciating the attention from her lover.
Johnny: “Sheesh! Now how in the world did he manage to pull her?” An Earthrealmer by the name of Johnny Cage mumbles, Megan and Shang Tsung having caught his attention.
Shang Tsung: “Welcome kombatants! I am Shang Tsung, your host of this little tournament! In the coming days, each of you will fight. How many battles each of you participates in fully depends on your strength and stamina. Some of you are here on your own volition. Others are here by chance.” During Shang Tsung’s welcoming speech, Johnny’s eyes drift from where Megan and Shang Tsung stood, to looking around and taking in the surroundings, the actor having never stepped foot outside of Earthrealm up until today. As he looked around, a woman by the name of Sonya Blade happened to catch his eye.
Johnny: “Oh, ho, ho! Hello beautiful. Johnny Cage, at your service~” Johnny mutters softly.
Sonya: “No, thank you Cage…” The soldier declines, somewhat disgusted with a hand raised.
Johnny: “You seriously haven’t heard of me? “Massive Strike”? “Citizen Cage”? “Ninja Mime”? None of those ring a bell?” As Johnny is listing off his movies, Sonya’s eyes land on the person that’s she’s been looking for a while now, and the very reason that she was on this weird and creepy island in the first place.
Sonya: “Kano. And he has his vampire with him…” Sonya mutters, quiet enough for Kano to not hear her.
Johnny: “Kano? Vampires? I believe I was in that one… what was it about again?” Johnny thinks out loud. He then sees where Sonya’s eyes were looking and saw a man with a cybernetic eye and a pale man with black sclera, glowing red irises, and sharp fangs sticking out of his mouth walking to where Megan and Shang Tsung were, going somewhere behind them, Skarlet going with them once she sees them. “Ah, I see.”
Shang Tsung: You all will be participating in one of the most important Mortal Kombat tournaments in history! This tournament is the tenth after nine Outworld victories and will be the one to decide Earthrealm’s fate once and for all. Once you have defeated all of your opponents, you will face one final challenge. Me!”
Johnny: “Wait, so that old man is the final challenge? We don’t even get the option to fight her instead? Sheesh… If this is the storyline we’re sticking with then you might as well give me the award now. Belt? Medal? What even is the reward for winning this tournament anyways?”
Shang Tsung: “Not a chance, Mr. Cage! You will get your reward in time.” The sorcerer spits from behind Johnny. Johnny jumps at the sudden voice behind him, turning to see that sure enough, Shang Tsung was now right behind him, causing Johnny to look confused between where Shang Tsung was and where he currently was right in front of him.
Johnny: “H-How the hell did you-”
Shang Tsung: “A magician never reveals his secrets, Earthrealmer.” Shang Tsung smirks as he walks back to where he was at Megan’s side, putting his arm back around her. “Our first opponent will be Johnny Cage!”
Johnny: “Hell yeah I am!” Johnny yells, ready to show off to everyone, glad that Shang Tsung chose him to go first. “So, sorcerer, who’s my first opponent going to be?” Shang Tsung then leans down to hear Megan’s idea on who Johnny should face first.
Megan: “What about Reptile? He hasn’t fought in a tournament in a while and we have to test him somehow.” She whispers into her husband’s ear. Shang Tsung nods before placing a peck on Megan’s cheek. Megan blushes at this, causing Shang Tsung to smirk.
Shang Tsung: “Your first opponent is Reptile!” A figure then reveals itself on the roof to one of the buildings surrounding where the tournament was taking place, showing the bipedal reptilian, who then jumps down to fight.
Johnny: “Nice stunt and makeup dude! Who’s your agent?”
Reptile: “I serve Megan Shang and Shang Tsung as well as their son. Though you will die before you get the chance to face any of them.”
Johnny: “Wait, they have a kid?” Johnny replies in surprise, looking around the island to see if Reptile was telling the truth. But before the actor can look around for long, he hears Shang Tsung’s voice.
Shang Tsung: “Begin!” The host shouts, officially beginning the Mortal Kombat tournament. Johnny and Reptile begin their fight, Johnny surprisingly coming out victorious despite Reptile’s invisibility and acid spit. The lizard man leaves the stage without a word, not wanting to deal with Megan or Shang Tsung after his defeat.
Johnny: “You just got Caged! Yeah, I'm so awesome! I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down!” Johnny flexes as he celebrates his win, going down the front row. “And I'm taking you out on a date~ What do ya say, beautiful?” He says once he gets to Sonya. As this is happening, Raiden’s group minus Raiden himself and Liu Kang quietly laugh at Johnny’s antics, finding the actor to be quite amusing.
Sonya: “Ugh, no thank you. Still not interested.” Before Johnny can reply to Sonya’s remark, Shang Tsung speaks.
Shang Tsung: “Ready for your next opponent, Cage?”
Johnny: “You bet I am, magic man.”
Shang Tsung: “Who should Cage’s next opponent be, my dear?” He asks.
Megan: “Hmmm.” Megan thinks for a moment, her eyes scanning the crowd. “I think seeing Johnny facing that swordsman over there, Kenshi Takahashi I believe it was, could be fun.” Shang Tsung smirks, seeing Megan’s vision, rubbing her waist and placing a kiss on her forehead.
Shang Tsung: “Your next opponent is Kenshi Takahashi.” Shang Tsung announces, the Japanese swordsman walking up to the stage.
Johnny: “Be careful Kenshi, wouldn't want my shine to reflect off of your sword and blind those beautiful brown eyes of yours.”
Kenshi: “Thanks for your concern, Cage, but I'll be fine.”
Johnny: “If ya say so, tattoo.” Despite some large scratches and cuts from Sento, Kenshi’s sword, Johnny comes out victorious. Kenshi bows without saying anything before walking off to where Kano, Justus, and Skarlet had seen walking to previously.
Johnny: “Any more opponents for me, beautiful?” Johnny looks over at Megan with a smirk on his face. This causes Megan to look at her husband, Shang Tsung.
Shang Tsung: “That is all of your opponents for today, Cage. Matches will resume at first light. If you want to fight more then-”
Rebellius: “But I want to fight him now!” A voice from the crowd shouts, a tall, slim, red-haired man with an eyepatch seen walking up to the stage.
Rebellius: “Shouldn’t he be able to fight three opponents like the rest of us? I know you two may want to retire to your quarters, but I’m sure everyone else wouldn’t mind one more fight.”
Megan: “I know you’re a Chaosrealmer, Rebellius, but it is getting rather late.”
Rebellius: “Oh I’m aware of that, starlight, but what’s one more fight? Plus, you heard the man, he said he wanted another opponent, so why not let him face me?”
Shang Tsung: “I will allow it, Rebellius. But only this one fight until tomorrow’s matches.”
Rebellius: “Will do!” The Chaosrealmer booms. “You ready Earthrealmer?” He asks, turning to Johnny.
Johnny: “You better believe I am…uh…what was your name again? Rebellious? Like the word?”
Rebellius: “Exactly like the word, just spelt differently. Just take out the o and you have my name!”
Johnny: “Are all Chaosrealmer names like that? If so, I may need you for naming some of my movies and writing some of my lines.”
Rebellius: “I would be happy to. If you can beat me that is.”
Johnny: “Oh, you’re on! Let the chaos begin!”
Rebellius: “Oh, I am starting to like you already!”
Johnny: “Oh, I knew you would, eyepatch.” After a while of Johnny struggling against Rebellius due to him not being used to fighting a Chaosrealmer, Rebellius decides to go easier on Johnny, allowing for the actor to win.
Johnny: “Hell yeah, baby! Three out of three!” He celebrates, somewhat out of breath. “Thank you for letting me win back there, Rebellius. You could’ve easily tore me to shreds, but you did.”
Rebellius: “Of course. Winning means nothing to me, so while yes, I could’ve easily washed you, I decided to let you win. Earthrealm needs to win more than Chaosrealm does at the moment.”
Raiden: “Rebellius is correct, Johnny. As Shang Tsung said, this is the most important tournament in a long time, especially for the sake of Earthrealm.”
Johnny: “I'm sorry, but who are you? Nice hat.”
Liu Kang: “He is Lord Raiden. Protector of Earthrealm.” Liu Kang spits as the rest of Raiden’s group walks up to Johnny and Rebellius.
Johnny: “Earthrealm? Um, ok. Are you doing some sort of fantasy thing? If you need any acting tips I'd be more than happy to help you out.”
Liu Kang: “It is not a thing, Cage. This is real, and if we don't win this tournament then we are as good as dead.”
Johnny: “Uh yeah, I kind of got that from what Raiden said.” Johnny comments.
Fujin: “Calm yourself, Liu Kang. Johnny is new to Mortal Kombat and all of the realms and people involved. He wasn't raised around it like you were.”
Liu Kang: “My apologies, Lord Fujin. His arrogance got the better of me.”
Kung Lao: “Oh, and did that arrogance remind you of anyone? Is that why you got mad so quickly?”
Iris: “Don’t provoke him, Kung Lao. Save your fighting and provoking for your turns in the tournament.”
Kung Lao: “Yes, Lady Iris.” Kung Lao nods, listening to the doctor’s words.
Johnny: “And where have you three been my entire life~” Johnny flirts, looking over to where Iris had spoken, Kami and Varian being behind her.
Andrius: “Traversing realms and protecting Earthrealm since before you were born” Andrius smirks. This causes Johnny to chuckle a bit.
Johnny: “If you say so emo. Listen, I know you guys probably have your stuff to get back to, and I have a winning streak that I need to be sure to not lose. I am not losing this early into the game. Plus, I kind of want to try and shoot my shot with Sonya a little more if she’ll let me and see if Rebellius wants to train some more…” The actor mumbles the last part.
Fujin: “This tournament is more than just a chance for your personal glory, Johnny. We are here to save Earthrealm and other realms from Shao Kahn’s grasp. The more people we have on our side the better.”
Johnny: “Wait, so me wanting to continue my streak helps you out as well?”
Varian: “As an Earthrealmer, it helps both you and us.” Varian adds. Before anything else can be said, Shang Tsung interrupts.
Shang Tsung: “Now that you’ve had time to think, will you finish your opponent, Mr. Cage?”
Johnny: “Um, finish him how exactly?” Johnny asks, a slight blush on his face.
Megan: “By killing him of course. Don’t worry, he’s a Chaosrealmer, and one of the top ones at that as Rebellius is the current Cleric of Chaos. After his brother Havik passed away and all.”
Varian: “So, Rebellius is Cleric of Chaos now? That explains why no one has seen him…” Varian thinks out loud to herself.
Johnny: “I’m sorry, gorgeous, what? You expect me to kill someone that I just met? Someone that I’ve just started taking a liking to? I don’t care if he can regenerate or not!”
Shang Tsung: “It’s either kill the Chaosrealmer or be disqualified from the tournament. Ending your precious winning streak as well as losing points for Earthrealm.”
Rebellius: “It’s fine Johnny. As you said, I’ll just regenerate, so whatever happens to me, I’ll always come back. It’s typically tradition to kill your opponents in the tournament, especially your last one. The only reason you weren’t expected to kill Reptile or Kenshi is because those were sort of like test runs to see if you were capable. Beating me was a true sign of your strength, so them asking you to kill me is proof that you’re in the tournament now.”
Johnny: “Uh right. While I don’t fully understand, you know more than I do, so I’ll take your word for it, Rebel. See you when you come back.” Johnny waves before “killing” Rebellius, earning his spot in the Shangs’ tournament.
Shang Tsung: “The night shall now commence. Our tournament will resume at first light.” Shang Tsung bows before him and Megan walk off the stage and towards their palace to their quarters for the night. Johnny then goes to where Raiden’s group was, not knowing where else to go after defeating Rebellius and not seeing Sonya.
Raiden: “You did well, Johnny.”
Johnny: “Thanks. Though I’ll admit it was weird having to kill someone. You know, like actually having to kill someone. No special effects or anything.”
Iris: “Yeah, it does take some getting used to.”
Kung Lao: “I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it in no time.”
Andrius: “If you ever need any tips on non lethally finishing opponents, feel free to talk to me. I can also patch you up as well if you need me to.” Andrius offers.
Johnny: “Thanks doc. Having a medical professional on standby can be pretty useful, especially at a place like this one.”
Andrius: “Precisely why I came here. I don’t trust those sorcerers one bit.” Andrius sneers, the plague doctor not liking Shang Tsung in particular, Raiden and the rest of the group leaving Andrius to his conversation (Varian sticking close by to make sure nothing happened to Andrius, her also not trusting the island)
Johnny: “So I take it this is their island? Given what Reptile said, they have a son? Reptile being a servant of sorts for them?”
Andrius: “Syzoth is correct. He serves the Shang family, that family consisting of Shang Tsung, his wife, Megan Shang, originally Megan Verena, and their son, Cyrus Shang. Together the family lives in the giant palace that’s on this island. You probably saw Cyrus when arriving on the island, as he and Syzoth show the kombatants of the tournament to their rooms, Syzoth and Cyrus knowing the island like the back of their hands.”
Johnny: “Come to think of it, yeah, I did see him. He’s the one that led me to my room actually as he wanted my autograph and a selfie. He told me that while he didn’t really care for my movies that much, I was the first and only celebrity that he had met and wanted something to remember the moment.” This causes Andrius to smile, remembering the conversations and interactions that he’s had with the boy.
Andrius: “You didn’t write anything bad on the autograph, did you, Johnny?”
Johnny: “Of course not! Say, did you want to catch up with your friends? I haven’t seen Sonya in a bit, and I want to make sure she’s ok with these weirdos around.”
Andrius: “That’s fine. I’ll see you around, Johnny.”
Johnny: “See ya, Doc!” Andrius then continues to where Raiden and the rest went, Varian following at his side as Johnny went to find Sonya.
I know the beginning of MK9 is usually where most people with MK9 lies, and while I'd already changed it from what it originally was, I wasn't super satisfied with it, so I've changed it to what I believe is better.

Johnny: “See ya, Doc!” Andrius then continues to where Raiden and the rest went, Varian following at his side as Johnny went to find Sonya. “Now let’s see where this Sonya went off to.”
We now shift to Sonya’s point of view, where we see her trying to guide the rest of her squadron to the island.
Walkie Talkie: “...triangulating your signal for evac but… General Blade… there is no island… not on our radar… and not on any of our maps.”
Sonya: “What are you talking about, soldier? I’m literally standing on the island! Just lock on to my wrist comm!”
Walkie Talkie: “...understood General… What is your current status? As the soldier on the walkie talkie ends their query, Kano walks up to the lonely Special Forces General.
Kano: “Alive at the moment. But not for long if I have anything to say about it.” The Australian grins wickedly as his mechanical eye shines, glimmering in the moonlight.
Sonya: “Kano…” Sonya spits with all of the venom she could muster in her voice.
Kano: “That's my name! Don’t wear it out, love.” His grin remains as he approaches Sonya. “Ever wonder what was below this cliff? All of the walking around, trying to keep in touch with your mates, that thought’s had to cross your mind.”
Sonya: “I’d rather not.” She mumbles.
Kano: “Oh, come on, Sonya! It’ll be fun!” Johnny then walks up on the two.
Johnny: “I think she’s made it clear that she wants you to leave her alone, Tin Head.”
Sonya: “Johnny? What the hell are you doing here?” Before Johnny can respond, Kano speaks.
Kano: “Well, well, well! If it isn’t Mr. Hollywood himself! Come to rescue a damsel in distress, pretty boy?” The Black Dragon boss taunts.
Johnny: “Oh, so you’ve heard of me? Then you know the beat down that you’re about to get then?”
Kano: “I’ve seen about one or two of ‘em. One that Justus showed me because you stole his face for the main villain, and some that Kabal’s shown me to show how bad it was.” He laughs, remembering Kabal’s rants. “But the quality of your films and stunts doesn’t matter to me, I’ll still kick your ass.”
Johnny: “You want to see real stunts, I’ll show you real stunts.” Johnny then rushes towards Kano, aiming to uppercut the Aussie right in his cybernetic eye, but right as Johnny’s fist gets close to Kano’s face, the cyborg ducks, grabbing Johnny and tossing him off of the ledge.
Sonya: “Johnny!” Sonya yells, worried for the actor, based on how far up they were, not to mention the spikey rocks that littered the cliff.
Kano: “So, you do care about ‘em, isn’t that nice. A little too late though, don’t ya think.”
Sonya: “Johnny’s not dead, Kano! Even if he is, you’ll be joining him soon enough!” Sonya shouts, now being more done with Kano than she already was, and wanting to put an end to him once and for all, defeating him. While she wanted to do nothing more than to throw Kano off the cliff as he had done to Johnny, as she looked over the ledge she saw Johnny hanging from a cliff, which also trying to fight off Justus, a turned Vaternian who was one of Kano’s lackeys as a member of the Black Dragon.
Seeing this, Sonya decided against throwing Kano off the cliff, not wanting to throw Justus his boss. Tired of Johnny doing everything to get away from the vampire’s grasp, Justus just grabs the actor and flies off with him.
Once above the cliff, Johnny manages to get somewhat free, tossing Justus to the ground where Sonya was, Johnny landing on him. Johnny gets off, ready to fight the bloodsucker that had tried to abduct him.
But before Johnny or Sonya can blink, they see a flash of black and red before Johnny gets a neck full of what feels like icicles pricking into his veins. Sonya can barely see Johnny for Justus’ large black wings that were flayed out.
Sonya: “Get off of him you freak!” Sonya warns, pulling out one of her pistols, causing one of Justus’ eyes to shift, moving one of his wings slightly to better see.
Justus: “You know that’s not going to work on me right? Silver bullets or regular bullets.”
Sonya: “Are you stupid or something? All I need is to hit you with one silver bullet and you’re done for.”
Justus: “Unless you have a whole silversmith’s shop in those bullets, they're not going to do anything. You see, thanks to Shang Tsung, I don’t have to worry about typical vampire weaknesses. Except for the stake through the heart thing though, as that’s something that would kill most typical people.”
Sonya: “Huh, I see.” Sonya nods, eyeing the cliff that she knew had spikes. Having his fill of Johnny and knowing what Sonya was thinking, goes after Sonya. “Didn’t you drink enough of Johnny’s blood?”
Justus: “There’s rarely ever enough blood to fully satisfy a vampire. Plus, Johnny’s blood’s a bit too rich for me.”
Sonya: “Oh, I can imagine.” She chuckles, before fighting off Justus herself. Right before Sonya can deliver a finishing blow, Justus flies away, carrying Kano with him. “Damn it!” Sonya yells, chasing Justus, but this makes Justus fly faster, Sonya not being able to keep up, Johnny following behind her. Sonya and Johnny slow down a bit but still head in the direction that they’d seen Justus fly.
After walking for a bit, Johnny and Sonya come to a dead end, being met with a wall of rock, the two looking up to see that this rock went way up, the tip going up into the clouds.
Johnny: “Do you have any equipment? So that we could climb?”
Sonya: “Not on me, no.” Sonya replies as she shakes her head, letting out a frustrated sigh. “It’s best if we stay down here. We don’t know exactly where Justus flew off to, so as much as I hate to say it, we’re going to have to wait until they come to us.”
Johnny: “Yeah, you’re right. We should maybe look around. I don’t trust this island, and I don’t want to go to bed until I know what’s on this island.”
Sonya: “Wouldn’t expect you to come up with that plan.”
Johnny: “Yeah, well, my mom was a cop, so I kind of know a thing or two. You did not fuck around with her.”
Sonya: “Sounds like a nice lady. Let’s start looking around where the palace is. If there’s something suspicious, it’s either in the forest, or around The Shang’s humble abode.” Sonya brings up Johnny nodding as they walk towards the buildings of the island, a large and elegant palace being seen a good distance away from the other buildings that they could see.
As the two are making their way past some of the buildings, they hear a commotion coming from one of the buildings that they’d just passed, causing them to hurry into that building.
When Sonya and Johnny enter this building, they see Jax breaking out of the cell that the Shangs had imprisoned him in. Speaking of the Shangs, unfortunately for Jax, Johnny and Sonya, Megan and Shang Tsung happened to walk in after the two Americans, having heard the commotion as well.
Megan: “Looks like the soldier finally found a way out of his cell. Unfortunately for him and his little friends here, he was a little too loud.” Megan interrogates, restraining the three Earthrealmers with her ghostly white energy, the mist flowing right out of her hands.
Jax: “What the hell!? I knew you two were spooky as well as your island, but this is something else!”
Shang Tsung: “If you like my wife’s magic, then how about I show you a taste of mine.” The sorcerer smirks, pointing his hand in the direction that he could sense someone crouched down, who Shang Tsung had managed to sense sneak in behind him and Megan. Shang Tsung then uses his magic to siphon some of the intruder's soul, Shang Tsung’s magic pulling the intruder closer to him thanks to the pull of the sorcerer’s ability. The intruder is revealed to be Kenshi Takahashi.
Kenshi: “Please… stop… I… I can’t see…” The swordsman croaks out with the bit of energy that he had left.
Shang Tsung: “Since you asked so nicely.” Shang Tsung mutters, letting go of Kenshi with his magic, allowing Kenshi to breathe again, though weakly. The sorcerer then siphons Kenshi’s soul to Megan, where the soul changes from a green flame-like orb, to a white ball, which Megan turns into her mist-like energy, pouring his energy into Kenshi’s agape mouth, giving him the piece of his soul back.
Kenshi: “Thank you.” The black dragon swordsman lets out in relief, being able to breathe again. “I don’t mean to push the issue, but may I have my vision back?”
Shang Tsung: “I’m afraid that’s irreversible, Kenshi.” The sorcerer lets out, unleashing burning skulls at Jax, burning his shirt off. Not wanting to get burned, Megan releases her magic, causing Kintaro to approach to restrain Jax, Megan having held Jax long enough for the giant, multi-armed tiger to show up. Before Kintaro can get his paws on Jax and put him in a stronger cell, Jax manages to knock out the giant cat and goes to rescue Johnny and Sonya.
Megan: “Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast, Jax. How about you chill out, and then we can talk things over.” Megan says with discipline in her voice. Megan uses her magic to create one of her soul orbs, cold mist coming from the ball. Megan then drops the ball with an underhand motion, landing in between Megan and Jax, where the Lin Kuei Cryomancer appears.
Jax: “Who the hell are you? One of her undead minions or something?”
Bi-Han: “I am neither undead, nor a minion. While I don’t like fighting on others’ behalf, my clan and the Shangs do share an alliance. It looks like you are the enemy.”
Jax: “If that’s how you want to see things, Frosty. I for one just want to get off of this island and back to my squadron once and for all!”
Bi-Han: “And with my help you may leave. Just make sure not to squirm, Major, and you can reunite with your squadron in no time. Quick and painlessly.”
Jax: “Wait, what!? What did you do to my squadron, sorcerers! You better be speakin’ now or I swear I’ll-”
Megan: “Next time one of your soldiers reaches out to someone outside of the island, make sure it’s private, Major.”
Sonya: “Wait, how did you?”
Shang Tsung: “Do you forget who this island belongs to? We have eyes and ears all over the island who may have picked up on your conversation other than Mr. Cage?” The Earthrealmers then narrow their eyes.
Jax & Sonya: “That damn Black Dragon…”
Sonya: “It had to have been Justus. When Kano threw Johnny off of the cliff, Justus was immediately on him, as if he was waiting down there, and Kano did arrive seemingly out of nowhere. There could’ve been more members around, but those were the two that I saw…”
Johnny: “So, is that why you’re here, Takahashi? To eavesdrop on boss’ orders?”
Kenshi: “With all of the noise that Jax made in his escape, I couldn’t help but be curious. I’ve realized now that when I saw Megan and Tsung enter I should have minded my business, but I guess it’s a little late for that. Kano’s not going to be pleased…”
Jax: “Then join us, uh, Takahashi was it that Cage said? Join the good side!”
Sonya: “We know you probably have your reasons for joining him, but I mean you saw, er, felt what happened when you snuck in here. You got attacked by a supposed ally. Whether or not the sorcerer knew it was you or not doesn’t matter. Kano and the sorcerers are only in things for themselves, and you know that.” But before anyone else can say a word, Shang Tsung and Megan yell out to the Cryomancer.
Megan and Shang Tsung: “Bi-Han! Now!” This command kicks the Lin Kuei Grandmaster into action, causing the room to drop by a few degrees. Out of desperation, Jax defeats Bi-Han rather easily, too easily for the Cryomancer’s liking, causing him to storm off back to his room.
Jax: “I’m done with y’all’s games! Let Sonya and Cage go!” The army major demands. Megan and Shang Tsung think on Jax’s words for a moment.
Megan: “Only because I’m worried about Takahashi’s condition, I will let your friends go. While he lost his battle against Cage, he still has two matches in our tournament. Jax has two more opponents to face, Blade has one more opponent to face, and Cage is good until the finals, him having won all three of his matches.” Megan announces, releasing her magic from Johnny and Sonya.
Johnny: “Wait, so you count off screen fights for tournament points?”
Shang Tsung: “Of course. As we’ve stated, we have eyes and ears everywhere Mr. Cage. It is our island after all.”
Jax: “So, we’ve noticed. You said that I had two opponents left, so I take it you two are my opponents?”
Megan: “Don’t be stupid, Major. You’ll get the chance to do that once you’ve won your matches.”
Johnny: “Yeah, they said that during the opening speech.”
Sonya: “He wasn’t there for the opening speech, Cage. He’s been here the whole time!”
Shang Tsung: “If you would like to continue your chat, you may leave. We have other business to attend to. We will attend to the three of you when the time calls for it.” Shang Tsung sneers as he and Megan exit the building, Megan carrying Kenshi in front of her with her energy.
(Megan and Shang Tsung’s pov)
Megan and Shang Tsung then walk off in the direction of the guest houses, Megan wanting to have Kenshi checked out by Andrius before he fights his two remaining opponents, not wanting Kenshi to literally fight blind. While Megan and her husband, Shang Tsung, would often have kombatants do horrible things to each other, as this wasn’t in the middle of a match, Megan wanted to at least get him checked out.
Shang Tsung doesn’t object to this and goes along with his wife, making sure she’s safe with all of the people from all across the realms being on their island.
Speaking of people across the realms being here, as Megan and Shang Tsung are on their way to the guest buildings, the couple comes across Kitana and Jade. Friends of Megan’s since childhood, all three ending up working for Shao Kahn since his invasion on Edenia decades ago. While Kitana and Jade stayed with Shao Kahn, working for him more directly, Shao being Kitana’s “stepdad” and Kitana not wanting to disappoint him, not wanting to face his wrath if she could avoid it and Jade started out as a sort of bodyguard for the Khan, being moved to being Kitana’s bodyguard once Rain and Floyd joins. Megan was one of Shao Kahn’s mercenaries, taking care of anyone that Shao Kahn saw as an issue or threat. This was until Shang Tsung visited one day, wanting to try and strike a deal with the Kahn, but when Shang Tsung got there, he ended up proposing two deals. The one he went there to make, and for Megan to work for him instead of Shao. Megan and Shang Tsung begin their relationship soon after, and that’s how we end up where we are today.
Kitana: “Megan! It is good to see you. I’d have thought that you and Tsung would’ve been in bed by now, so it’s a welcome surprise to see you here.”
Megan: “It is our island, Kitana. We thought we’d do some rounds of the island to make sure nothing was suspicious before we rested for the night.”
Shang Tsung: “That was until there was a commotion in our dungeons. One of our prisoners made a jailbreak, and this young man was caught in my crossfire.”
Jade: “What did you do with the prisoner?
Megan: “He unfortunately got away, but we’ll get him and his friends later.”
Kitana: “Who was it that escaped? The Earthrealmers?” Megan nods.
Jade: “We can take care of them for you. Jax and Sonya, right? Along with the actor?”
Shang Tsung: “Cage is off limits until the next set of matches.”
Jade: “Right, because he won his matches today.”
Kitana: “We can still go after the other two, yes? Sonya needs one more fight and Jax, if the noises from the dungeons were any indication, still has two left.”
Megan: “Correct.” Megan then thinks for a moment. “I think Skarlet should be his final opponent for his first round. That way we can test Jax’s might and Kano can test Skarlet's. If Jax wins he’s free to go, and what happens if Skarlet wins or loses will be up to Kano.”
Shang Tsung: “If one of us sees her we should probably let her know.”
Jade: “Will do.” Jade and Kitana nod before going in the direction that Megan and Shang Tsung came from as the couple continued on to where Andrius was staying.
Kenshi: “Are we in your mansion?”
Megan: “Close. We’re in the guest quarters. A separate building away from our home.”
Shang Tsung: “We’ve come to see if Andrius in his expertise could do anything about your ocular condition.”
Kenshi: “I believe I saw him at the tournament. When I could see. He’s the guy with the plague doctor mask, yes?”
Shang Tsung: “Correct.” Shang Tsung nods as Megan knocks gently but firmly on Andrius’ door, not wanting to awaken any of their guests.
Andrius: “Good evening, Mrs. Shang. Mr. Shang… is there something that you need? Raiden is in the room across from me if you need to speak to him.”
Shang Tsung: “Actually, Doctor Nils, we need your expertise.”
Megan: “You see, Tsung was dealing with an unruly guest, and this young man, Mr. Takahashi was caught in the crossfire. Blinding him.” Andrius then looks over to where Kenshi was floating, approaching the swordsman.
Andrius: “His eyes look fine. They don’t look burned or anything, so I take it, it was your soul magic, sorcerer?”
Shang Tsung: “Correct.”
Andrius: “I’ll see what I can do. While his eyeballs don’t have any signs of injury, soul magic is a tricky thing, especially with such an important area being the unfortunate target. I may at least be able to ease the pain.” The doctor assesses before pausing in his observations, seeing Raiden and Fujin having walked up behind the sorcerer couple.
Raiden: “And just what are you two doing here.”
Shang Tsung: “You tell me, Raiden, this is our island.”
Fujin: “Brother, now is not the time for squabbling.” Fujin interjects, pointing to where Andrius was still observing Kenshi’s wound, gently touching the scar that littered his eyelids.
Megan: “He was spying on me and Tsung as we were dealing with another kombatant. As we were dealing with this unruly kombatant, Kenshi got caught in the crossfire.”
Raiden: “You expect us to believe that? While we did hear a commotion outside, I doubt this man’s optical injury was a mere accident.”
Andrius: “Believe them or not, Lord Raiden, he is still injured, and needs attention as soon as possible before the injury spreads. You and Fujin out of anyone should know how dangerous soul magic can be.”
Fujin: “Andrius is correct, brother. While I’m cautious of the Shangs myself, the point is that Takahashi was still affected by soul magic and needs to be treated.” Raiden then thinks a moment before reluctantly nodding.
Raiden: “You may drop the Earthrealmer off. Once he is properly situated, the two of you may exit to go about your “duties” of the island.”
Megan: “Thank you, Raiden.”
Andrius: “Follow me, Mrs. Shang. Tsung, not another step.” Andrius beckons, spitting at the sorcerer. “Feel free to put him on the furthest bed near the window.” He instructs Megan, walking into the room and placing the swordsman gently onto the bed before leaving to reunite with her husband.
Megan: “When will we hear back about his injury?” Megan asks curiously.
Andrius: “I’ll send Marshmallow to you with a note tomorrow night. I should have his eyes properly assessed and dealt with by then.” The doctor confirms, the white raven on his shoulder cawing.
Megan: “That works.” She nods.
Shang Tsung: “We will be taking our leave now. You three may rest easy until dawn.” He announces as the couple departs from the Sky Temple group’s guest house.
(Sonya and Jax route)
We now come back to where we see Johnny and Sonya helping to walk an injured out of the dungeons.
Jax: “Y’all two know that I can walk just fine, right?”
Johnny: “After all you just encountered? Breaking out of a cell? Beating cats and popsicles? Getting your shirt burned clean off?”
Sonya: “I have to admit that it was a lot to go through. Especially given the timeframe of it all.” Jax sighs as Sonya and Johnny let go of the army major.
Jax: “I’m fine. Thank you for your concern.” Before Johnny or Sonya can say anything else, they hear a set of footsteps approaching.
Jade and Kitana: “By decree of the Shangs, you three are under arrest!”
Jax: “I don’t think so. I just came from those dungeons, and I don’t intend on going back anytime soon.”
Kitana: “What about you, Blade? Or how about Cage? Since he doesn’t have any more matches until his next round?”
Johnny: “Nuh uh. I don’t care how beautiful you two are, I am not going in a cell! Especially one as dingy and questionable as the one that Jax just left from.”
Jade: “Then that just leaves you.” The jade-clad woman sneers, looking at the special forces general. “Did you want to handle this one, Kitana? While I handle Briggs?”
Kitana: “It would be my pleasure. After us, you’ll only need one last opponent. One that I’m sure you will encounter in time.” Kitana replies, taking out her fans, Jade taking out her pole staff. Despite Jax’s weakness, he manages to defeat Jade, just as Sonya is able to defeat Kitana.
Sonya: “Let the Shangs know that we’re done here.”
Jade: “And where will you go? You have no way of getting off this island, your squadrons being at the bottom of the ocean by now.”
Jax: “If I know our crew, I’m sure they’ve got someone on the way.”
Kitana: “Assuming that they make it here.”
Jax: “One can only hope.” Jax thinks out loud as Kitana and Jade head back from the direction that they’d come.
(Back to Megan and Shang Tsung’s pov)
Megan and Shang Tsung are walking back to where they had left Jax, Johnny and Sonya, eager to see if Kitana and Jade had gotten to them and what the results were.
On the way there, the couple happen to run into Skarlet, just the blood red clad edenian who they were looking for.
Megan: “Skarlet! We’ve been looking for you! Are you alright?”
Skarlet: “I am marvelous. What is it that has you two looking for me?”
Shang Tsung: “I’ve heard from Shao that you have been studying blood magic, yes? How would you like to quench your thirst by finishing off an opponent for us? Justus already has.”
Skarlet: “That depends. Who is this opponent exactly?” The future blood mage questions, turning to look at Shang Tsung.
Megan: “Major Jackson Briggs. He has only one match left for his first round, Jax having won his first two. We have already sunken down his and General Blade’s squadrons, so whether he wins or loses doesn’t truly matter as long as no one else comes to try and save him.” Megan explains.
Skarlet: “I believe I’ve heard his name being tossed around. When would you like to go after him?”
Shang Tsung: “Preferably as soon as possible. Jade and Kitana should have already faced him, so Jax should be ready for one last fight before his second round.”
Skarlet: “Understood.” Skarlet bows, the three heading to where Megan and Shang Tsung had last seen Jax, Johnny, and Sonya
(Back to Jax and Sonya’s pov)
Johnny: “How are you two holding up?” Johnny asks after Jax and Sonya’s fight with Jade and Kitana.
Jax: “We’re holdin’ on. How about you, Sonya?”
Sonya: “I’m fine. Let’s just try to find a way off of this freaky island.” Jax and Johnny nod, the movie star helping Jax and Sonya up. The three then hear a whirring sound.
Johnny: “What the hell is that noise? Don’t tell me Shang Tsung has something else up his sleeves.”
Jax: “No. That doesn’t sound like any of Shang's tricks. If anything, it sounds like some sort of helicopter.”
Sonya: “Wait, helicopter? Did our squadrons manage to send help before being attacked?” The three ponder hopefully. The noise gets louder and louder as it approaches, when the three Earthrealmers see a giant black helicopter coming closer to the island. Once the helicopter is close enough for it to start lowering itself to the island, it is struck down by a flaming skull that looked exactly like the one that had struck Jax not too long ago. Sure enough, when Jax, Sonya and Johnny look to the direction that the flaming skull had come from, they see Shang Tsung, with Megan and Skarlet standing on each side of the sorcerer.
Sonya: “No! Ugh! Damn you sorcerers!” Sonya yells in frustration, now being pissed off with the Shangs.
Jax: “You just now gettin’ fed up with them? I’ve had to deal with them for weeks.” He reminds Sonya.
Sonya: “That’s why I’m fed up with them! Because of what they’ve done to you, them dealing with Kano, the tournament, and just the island as a whole! I swear I can’t get a damn break…” The general breaths.
Johnny: “Yeah. Heh, sometimes I get the feeling like there’s cameras everywhere. Like there’s eyes all around this already weird island, causing you to have the feeling that you're being watched. At first I thought it was just my nerves, combined with just the vibes of the island, causing my horror movie senses to go off as it were, and that the feeling would go away, but the feeling just grows everywhere I go.” Johnny elaborates on Sonya’s point.
Megan: “How perceptive, Earthrealmer. As this is our island, me and Tsung naturally have eyes and ears everywhere, as Jax and Sonya know at this point. As they should also know, yet keep insisting on trying to fight against, you three are not leaving this island. Not unless you die, or win the tournament.”
Shang Tsung: “Which brings us to why we are here in front of you. Cage and Blade have finished their fights, so they are safe until our next round. Jax, fortunately or unfortunately, still has one fight remaining. As you could presume, your final fight will be Skarlet.” The sorcerer gestures to the red-cladded Edenian beside him. Skalret steps forward, ready for her battle with Jax.
Skarlet: “Oh how I’ve waited to enter this tournament! Shao Kahn has always held me back, stating that he wanted to give the others a chance. Once Megan left to work with Shang Tsung, I thought that it would finally be my chance, but he still insisted on focusing on the others. Now, at one of the most important tournaments to date, I finally get my chance. My chance to finally revel in the blood of realmers that I didn’t even know existed!”
Jax: “Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but you won’t be getting your chance this time either. I’d prefer it if my blood and the blood of my friends and realm were in our bodies, thank you.”
Skarlet: “I will get my fill, Earthrealmer! I will prove to Shao Kahn that he was wrong for holding me back for so long!” Despite Skarlet’s speech, she loses to Jax, giving Jax the wins that he needed to move on to the next round to hopefully leave the island once and for all. This loss gets to Skarlet, who turns back to where Megan and Shang Tsung currently were.
Megan: “It’s alright, Skarlet, you still have two more fights. As long as you win those, Shao doesn’t have to know a thing.”
Skarlet: “Thank you, Megan.” She nods before walking off to her room.
Shang Tsung: “Jax on the other hand, has officially completed his matches for this round. You three will now be safe until the next round. I trust to see you three in one piece once the time comes.” The sorcerer confirms. Before anyone can say anything, Megan and Shang Tsung walk away, heading to their quarters as well, the couple finally ready to settle in for the night and get some peace and quiet before the fights resume the following day.

Johnny: “See ya, Doc!” Andrius then continues to where Raiden and the rest went, Varian following at his side as Johnny went to find Sonya. “Now let’s see where this Sonya went off to.”
We now shift to Sonya’s point of view, where we see her trying to guide the rest of her squadron to the island.
Walkie Talkie: “...triangulating your signal for evac but… General Blade… there is no island… not on our radar… and not on any of our maps.”
Sonya: “What are you talking about, soldier? I’m literally standing on the island! Just lock on to my wrist comm!”
Walkie Talkie: “...understood General… What is your current status? As the soldier on the walkie talkie ends their query, Kano walks up to the lonely Special Forces General.
Kano: “Alive at the moment. But not for long if I have anything to say about it.” The Australian grins wickedly as his mechanical eye shines, glimmering in the moonlight.
Sonya: “Kano…” Sonya spits with all of the venom she could muster in her voice.
Kano: “That's my name! Don’t wear it out, love.” His grin remains as he approaches Sonya. “Ever wonder what was below this cliff? All of the walking around, trying to keep in touch with your mates, that thought’s had to cross your mind.”
Sonya: “I’d rather not.” She mumbles.
Kano: “Oh, come on, Sonya! It’ll be fun!” Johnny then walks up on the two.
Johnny: “I think she’s made it clear that she wants you to leave her alone, Tin Head.”
Sonya: “Johnny? What the hell are you doing here?” Before Johnny can respond, Kano speaks.
Kano: “Well, well, well! If it isn’t Mr. Hollywood himself! Come to rescue a damsel in distress, pretty boy?” The Black Dragon boss taunts.
Johnny: “Oh, so you’ve heard of me? Then you know the beat down that you’re about to get then?”
Kano: “I’ve seen about one or two of ‘em. One that Justus showed me because you stole his face for the main villain, and some that Kabal’s shown me to show how bad it was.” He laughs, remembering Kabal’s rants. “But the quality of your films and stunts doesn’t matter to me, I’ll still kick your ass.”
Johnny: “You want to see real stunts, I’ll show you real stunts.” Johnny then rushes towards Kano, aiming to uppercut the Aussie right in his cybernetic eye, but right as Johnny’s fist gets close to Kano’s face, the cyborg ducks, grabbing Johnny and tossing him off of the ledge.
Sonya: “Johnny!” Sonya yells, worried for the actor, based on how far up they were, not to mention the spikey rocks that littered the cliff.
Kano: “So, you do care about ‘em, isn’t that nice. A little too late though, don’t ya think.”
Sonya: “Johnny’s not dead, Kano! Even if he is, you’ll be joining him soon enough!” Sonya shouts, now being more done with Kano than she already was, and wanting to put an end to him once and for all, defeating him. While she wanted to do nothing more than to throw Kano off the cliff as he had done to Johnny, as she looked over the ledge she saw Johnny hanging from a cliff, which also trying to fight off Justus, a turned Vaternian who was one of Kano’s lackeys as a member of the Black Dragon.
Seeing this, Sonya decided against throwing Kano off the cliff, not wanting to throw Justus his boss. Tired of Johnny doing everything to get away from the vampire’s grasp, Justus just grabs the actor and flies off with him.
Once above the cliff, Johnny manages to get somewhat free, tossing Justus to the ground where Sonya was, Johnny landing on him. Johnny gets off, ready to fight the bloodsucker that had tried to abduct him.
But before Johnny or Sonya can blink, they see a flash of black and red before Johnny gets a neck full of what feels like icicles pricking into his veins. Sonya can barely see Johnny for Justus’ large black wings that were flayed out.
Sonya: “Get off of him you freak!” Sonya warns, pulling out one of her pistols, causing one of Justus’ eyes to shift, moving one of his wings slightly to better see.
Justus: “You know that’s not going to work on me right? Silver bullets or regular bullets.”
Sonya: “Are you stupid or something? All I need is to hit you with one silver bullet and you’re done for.”
Justus: “Unless you have a whole silversmith’s shop in those bullets, they're not going to do anything. You see, thanks to Shang Tsung, I don’t have to worry about typical vampire weaknesses. Except for the stake through the heart thing though, as that’s something that would kill most typical people.”
Sonya: “Huh, I see.” Sonya nods, eyeing the cliff that she knew had spikes. Having his fill of Johnny and knowing what Sonya was thinking, goes after Sonya. “Didn’t you drink enough of Johnny’s blood?”
Justus: “There’s rarely ever enough blood to fully satisfy a vampire. Plus, Johnny’s blood’s a bit too rich for me.”
Sonya: “Oh, I can imagine.” She chuckles, before fighting off Justus herself. Right before Sonya can deliver a finishing blow, Justus flies away, carrying Kano with him. “Damn it!” Sonya yells, chasing Justus, but this makes Justus fly faster, Sonya not being able to keep up, Johnny following behind her. Sonya and Johnny slow down a bit but still head in the direction that they’d seen Justus fly.
After walking for a bit, Johnny and Sonya come to a dead end, being met with a wall of rock, the two looking up to see that this rock went way up, the tip going up into the clouds.
Johnny: “Do you have any equipment? So that we could climb?”
Sonya: “Not on me, no.” Sonya replies as she shakes her head, letting out a frustrated sigh. “It’s best if we stay down here. We don’t know exactly where Justus flew off to, so as much as I hate to say it, we’re going to have to wait until they come to us.”
Johnny: “Yeah, you’re right. We should maybe look around. I don’t trust this island, and I don’t want to go to bed until I know what’s on this island.”
Sonya: “Wouldn’t expect you to come up with that plan.”
Johnny: “Yeah, well, my mom was a cop, so I kind of know a thing or two. You did not fuck around with her.”
Sonya: “Sounds like a nice lady. Let’s start looking around where the palace is. If there’s something suspicious, it’s either in the forest, or around The Shang’s humble abode.” Sonya brings up Johnny nodding as they walk towards the buildings of the island, a large and elegant palace being seen a good distance away from the other buildings that they could see.
As the two are making their way past some of the buildings, they hear a commotion coming from one of the buildings that they’d just passed, causing them to hurry into that building.
When Sonya and Johnny enter this building, they see Jax breaking out of the cell that the Shangs had imprisoned him in. Speaking of the Shangs, unfortunately for Jax, Johnny and Sonya, Megan and Shang Tsung happened to walk in after the two Americans, having heard the commotion as well.
Megan: “Looks like the soldier finally found a way out of his cell. Unfortunately for him and his little friends here, he was a little too loud.” Megan interrogates, restraining the three Earthrealmers with her ghostly white energy, the mist flowing right out of her hands.
Jax: “What the hell!? I knew you two were spooky as well as your island, but this is something else!”
Shang Tsung: “If you like my wife’s magic, then how about I show you a taste of mine.” The sorcerer smirks, pointing his hand in the direction that he could sense someone crouched down, who Shang Tsung had managed to sense sneak in behind him and Megan. Shang Tsung then uses his magic to siphon some of the intruder's soul, Shang Tsung’s magic pulling the intruder closer to him thanks to the pull of the sorcerer’s ability. The intruder is revealed to be Kenshi Takahashi.
Kenshi: “Please… stop… I… I can’t see…” The swordsman croaks out with the bit of energy that he had left.
Shang Tsung: “Since you asked so nicely.” Shang Tsung mutters, letting go of Kenshi with his magic, allowing Kenshi to breathe again, though weakly. The sorcerer then siphons Kenshi’s soul to Megan, where the soul changes from a green flame-like orb, to a white ball, which Megan turns into her mist-like energy, pouring his energy into Kenshi’s agape mouth, giving him the piece of his soul back.
Kenshi: “Thank you.” The black dragon swordsman lets out in relief, being able to breathe again. “I don’t mean to push the issue, but may I have my vision back?”
Shang Tsung: “I’m afraid that’s irreversible, Kenshi.” The sorcerer lets out, unleashing burning skulls at Jax, burning his shirt off. Not wanting to get burned, Megan releases her magic, causing Kintaro to approach to restrain Jax, Megan having held Jax long enough for the giant, multi-armed tiger to show up. Before Kintaro can get his paws on Jax and put him in a stronger cell, Jax manages to knock out the giant cat and goes to rescue Johnny and Sonya.
Megan: “Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast, Jax. How about you chill out, and then we can talk things over.” Megan says with discipline in her voice. Megan uses her magic to create one of her soul orbs, cold mist coming from the ball. Megan then drops the ball with an underhand motion, landing in between Megan and Jax, where the Lin Kuei Cryomancer appears.
Jax: “Who the hell are you? One of her undead minions or something?”
Bi-Han: “I am neither undead, nor a minion. While I don’t like fighting on others’ behalf, my clan and the Shangs do share an alliance. It looks like you are the enemy.”
Jax: “If that’s how you want to see things, Frosty. I for one just want to get off of this island and back to my squadron once and for all!”
Bi-Han: “And with my help you may leave. Just make sure not to squirm, Major, and you can reunite with your squadron in no time. Quick and painlessly.”
Jax: “Wait, what!? What did you do to my squadron, sorcerers! You better be speakin’ now or I swear I’ll-”
Megan: “Next time one of your soldiers reaches out to someone outside of the island, make sure it’s private, Major.”
Sonya: “Wait, how did you?”
Shang Tsung: “Do you forget who this island belongs to? We have eyes and ears all over the island who may have picked up on your conversation other than Mr. Cage?” The Earthrealmers then narrow their eyes.
Jax & Sonya: “That damn Black Dragon…”
Sonya: “It had to have been Justus. When Kano threw Johnny off of the cliff, Justus was immediately on him, as if he was waiting down there, and Kano did arrive seemingly out of nowhere. There could’ve been more members around, but those were the two that I saw…”
Johnny: “So, is that why you’re here, Takahashi? To eavesdrop on boss’ orders?”
Kenshi: “With all of the noise that Jax made in his escape, I couldn’t help but be curious. I’ve realized now that when I saw Megan and Tsung enter I should have minded my business, but I guess it’s a little late for that. Kano’s not going to be pleased…”
Jax: “Then join us, uh, Takahashi was it that Cage said? Join the good side!”
Sonya: “We know you probably have your reasons for joining him, but I mean you saw, er, felt what happened when you snuck in here. You got attacked by a supposed ally. Whether or not the sorcerer knew it was you or not doesn’t matter. Kano and the sorcerers are only in things for themselves, and you know that.” But before anyone else can say a word, Shang Tsung and Megan yell out to the Cryomancer.
Megan and Shang Tsung: “Bi-Han! Now!” This command kicks the Lin Kuei Grandmaster into action, causing the room to drop by a few degrees. Out of desperation, Jax defeats Bi-Han rather easily, too easily for the Cryomancer’s liking, causing him to storm off back to his room.
Jax: “I’m done with y’all’s games! Let Sonya and Cage go!” The army major demands. Megan and Shang Tsung think on Jax’s words for a moment.
Megan: “Only because I’m worried about Takahashi’s condition, I will let your friends go. While he lost his battle against Cage, he still has two matches in our tournament. Jax has two more opponents to face, Blade has one more opponent to face, and Cage is good until the finals, him having won all three of his matches.” Megan announces, releasing her magic from Johnny and Sonya.
Johnny: “Wait, so you count off screen fights for tournament points?”
Shang Tsung: “Of course. As we’ve stated, we have eyes and ears everywhere Mr. Cage. It is our island after all.”
Jax: “So, we’ve noticed. You said that I had two opponents left, so I take it you two are my opponents?”
Megan: “Don’t be stupid, Major. You’ll get the chance to do that once you’ve won your matches.”
Johnny: “Yeah, they said that during the opening speech.”
Sonya: “He wasn’t there for the opening speech, Cage. He’s been here the whole time!”
Shang Tsung: “If you would like to continue your chat, you may leave. We have other business to attend to. We will attend to the three of you when the time calls for it.” Shang Tsung sneers as he and Megan exit the building, Megan carrying Kenshi in front of her with her energy.
(Megan and Shang Tsung’s pov)
Megan and Shang Tsung then walk off in the direction of the guest houses, Megan wanting to have Kenshi checked out by Andrius before he fights his two remaining opponents, not wanting Kenshi to literally fight blind. While Megan and her husband, Shang Tsung, would often have kombatants do horrible things to each other, as this wasn’t in the middle of a match, Megan wanted to at least get him checked out.
Shang Tsung doesn’t object to this and goes along with his wife, making sure she’s safe with all of the people from all across the realms being on their island.
Speaking of people across the realms being here, as Megan and Shang Tsung are on their way to the guest buildings, the couple comes across Kitana and Jade. Friends of Megan’s since childhood, all three ending up working for Shao Kahn since his invasion on Edenia decades ago. While Kitana and Jade stayed with Shao Kahn, working for him more directly, Shao being Kitana’s “stepdad” and Kitana not wanting to disappoint him, not wanting to face his wrath if she could avoid it and Jade started out as a sort of bodyguard for the Khan, being moved to being Kitana’s bodyguard once Rain and Floyd joins. Megan was one of Shao Kahn’s mercenaries, taking care of anyone that Shao Kahn saw as an issue or threat. This was until Shang Tsung visited one day, wanting to try and strike a deal with the Kahn, but when Shang Tsung got there, he ended up proposing two deals. The one he went there to make, and for Megan to work for him instead of Shao. Megan and Shang Tsung begin their relationship soon after, and that’s how we end up where we are today.
Kitana: “Megan! It is good to see you. I’d have thought that you and Tsung would’ve been in bed by now, so it’s a welcome surprise to see you here.”
Megan: “It is our island, Kitana. We thought we’d do some rounds of the island to make sure nothing was suspicious before we rested for the night.”
Shang Tsung: “That was until there was a commotion in our dungeons. One of our prisoners made a jailbreak, and this young man was caught in my crossfire.”
Jade: “What did you do with the prisoner?
Megan: “He unfortunately got away, but we’ll get him and his friends later.”
Kitana: “Who was it that escaped? The Earthrealmers?” Megan nods.
Jade: “We can take care of them for you. Jax and Sonya, right? Along with the actor?”
Shang Tsung: “Cage is off limits until the next set of matches.”
Jade: “Right, because he won his matches today.”
Kitana: “We can still go after the other two, yes? Sonya needs one more fight and Jax, if the noises from the dungeons were any indication, still has two left.”
Megan: “Correct.” Megan then thinks for a moment. “I think Skarlet should be his final opponent for his first round. That way we can test Jax’s might and Kano can test Skarlet's. If Jax wins he’s free to go, and what happens if Skarlet wins or loses will be up to Kano.”
Shang Tsung: “If one of us sees her we should probably let her know.”
Jade: “Will do.” Jade and Kitana nod before going in the direction that Megan and Shang Tsung came from as the couple continued on to where Andrius was staying.
Kenshi: “Are we in your mansion?”
Megan: “Close. We’re in the guest quarters. A separate building away from our home.”
Shang Tsung: “We’ve come to see if Andrius in his expertise could do anything about your ocular condition.”
Kenshi: “I believe I saw him at the tournament. When I could see. He’s the guy with the plague doctor mask, yes?”
Shang Tsung: “Correct.” Shang Tsung nods as Megan knocks gently but firmly on Andrius’ door, not wanting to awaken any of their guests.
Andrius: “Good evening, Mrs. Shang. Mr. Shang… is there something that you need? Raiden is in the room across from me if you need to speak to him.”
Shang Tsung: “Actually, Doctor Nils, we need your expertise.”
Megan: “You see, Tsung was dealing with an unruly guest, and this young man, Mr. Takahashi was caught in the crossfire. Blinding him.” Andrius then looks over to where Kenshi was floating, approaching the swordsman.
Andrius: “His eyes look fine. They don’t look burned or anything, so I take it, it was your soul magic, sorcerer?”
Shang Tsung: “Correct.”
Andrius: “I’ll see what I can do. While his eyeballs don’t have any signs of injury, soul magic is a tricky thing, especially with such an important area being the unfortunate target. I may at least be able to ease the pain.” The doctor assesses before pausing in his observations, seeing Raiden and Fujin having walked up behind the sorcerer couple.
Raiden: “And just what are you two doing here.”
Shang Tsung: “You tell me, Raiden, this is our island.”
Fujin: “Brother, now is not the time for squabbling.” Fujin interjects, pointing to where Andrius was still observing Kenshi’s wound, gently touching the scar that littered his eyelids.
Megan: “He was spying on me and Tsung as we were dealing with another kombatant. As we were dealing with this unruly kombatant, Kenshi got caught in the crossfire.”
Raiden: “You expect us to believe that? While we did hear a commotion outside, I doubt this man’s optical injury was a mere accident.”
Andrius: “Believe them or not, Lord Raiden, he is still injured, and needs attention as soon as possible before the injury spreads. You and Fujin out of anyone should know how dangerous soul magic can be.”
Fujin: “Andrius is correct, brother. While I’m cautious of the Shangs myself, the point is that Takahashi was still affected by soul magic and needs to be treated.” Raiden then thinks a moment before reluctantly nodding.
Raiden: “You may drop the Earthrealmer off. Once he is properly situated, the two of you may exit to go about your “duties” of the island.”
Megan: “Thank you, Raiden.”
Andrius: “Follow me, Mrs. Shang. Tsung, not another step.” Andrius beckons, spitting at the sorcerer. “Feel free to put him on the furthest bed near the window.” He instructs Megan, walking into the room and placing the swordsman gently onto the bed before leaving to reunite with her husband.
Megan: “When will we hear back about his injury?” Megan asks curiously.
Andrius: “I’ll send Marshmallow to you with a note tomorrow night. I should have his eyes properly assessed and dealt with by then.” The doctor confirms, the white raven on his shoulder cawing.
Megan: “That works.” She nods.
Shang Tsung: “We will be taking our leave now. You three may rest easy until dawn.” He announces as the couple departs from the Sky Temple group’s guest house.
(Sonya and Jax route)
We now come back to where we see Johnny and Sonya helping to walk an injured out of the dungeons.
Jax: “Y’all two know that I can walk just fine, right?”
Johnny: “After all you just encountered? Breaking out of a cell? Beating cats and popsicles? Getting your shirt burned clean off?”
Sonya: “I have to admit that it was a lot to go through. Especially given the timeframe of it all.” Jax sighs as Sonya and Johnny let go of the army major.
Jax: “I’m fine. Thank you for your concern.” Before Johnny or Sonya can say anything else, they hear a set of footsteps approaching.
Jade and Kitana: “By decree of the Shangs, you three are under arrest!”
Jax: “I don’t think so. I just came from those dungeons, and I don’t intend on going back anytime soon.”
Kitana: “What about you, Blade? Or how about Cage? Since he doesn’t have any more matches until his next round?”
Johnny: “Nuh uh. I don’t care how beautiful you two are, I am not going in a cell! Especially one as dingy and questionable as the one that Jax just left from.”
Jade: “Then that just leaves you.” The jade-clad woman sneers, looking at the special forces general. “Did you want to handle this one, Kitana? While I handle Briggs?”
Kitana: “It would be my pleasure. After us, you’ll only need one last opponent. One that I’m sure you will encounter in time.” Kitana replies, taking out her fans, Jade taking out her pole staff. Despite Jax’s weakness, he manages to defeat Jade, just as Sonya is able to defeat Kitana.
Sonya: “Let the Shangs know that we’re done here.”
Jade: “And where will you go? You have no way of getting off this island, your squadrons being at the bottom of the ocean by now.”
Jax: “If I know our crew, I’m sure they’ve got someone on the way.”
Kitana: “Assuming that they make it here.”
Jax: “One can only hope.” Jax thinks out loud as Kitana and Jade head back from the direction that they’d come.
(Back to Megan and Shang Tsung’s pov)
Megan and Shang Tsung are walking back to where they had left Jax, Johnny and Sonya, eager to see if Kitana and Jade had gotten to them and what the results were.
On the way there, the couple happen to run into Skarlet, just the blood red clad edenian who they were looking for.
Megan: “Skarlet! We’ve been looking for you! Are you alright?”
Skarlet: “I am marvelous. What is it that has you two looking for me?”
Shang Tsung: “I’ve heard from Shao that you have been studying blood magic, yes? How would you like to quench your thirst by finishing off an opponent for us? Justus already has.”
Skarlet: “That depends. Who is this opponent exactly?” The future blood mage questions, turning to look at Shang Tsung.
Megan: “Major Jackson Briggs. He has only one match left for his first round, Jax having won his first two. We have already sunken down his and General Blade’s squadrons, so whether he wins or loses doesn’t truly matter as long as no one else comes to try and save him.” Megan explains.
Skarlet: “I believe I’ve heard his name being tossed around. When would you like to go after him?”
Shang Tsung: “Preferably as soon as possible. Jade and Kitana should have already faced him, so Jax should be ready for one last fight before his second round.”
Skarlet: “Understood.” Skarlet bows, the three heading to where Megan and Shang Tsung had last seen Jax, Johnny, and Sonya
(Back to Jax and Sonya’s pov)
Johnny: “How are you two holding up?” Johnny asks after Jax and Sonya’s fight with Jade and Kitana.
Jax: “We’re holdin’ on. How about you, Sonya?”
Sonya: “I’m fine. Let’s just try to find a way off of this freaky island.” Jax and Johnny nod, the movie star helping Jax and Sonya up. The three then hear a whirring sound.
Johnny: “What the hell is that noise? Don’t tell me Shang Tsung has something else up his sleeves.”
Jax: “No. That doesn’t sound like any of Shang's tricks. If anything, it sounds like some sort of helicopter.”
Sonya: “Wait, helicopter? Did our squadrons manage to send help before being attacked?” The three ponder hopefully. The noise gets louder and louder as it approaches, when the three Earthrealmers see a giant black helicopter coming closer to the island. Once the helicopter is close enough for it to start lowering itself to the island, it is struck down by a flaming skull that looked exactly like the one that had struck Jax not too long ago. Sure enough, when Jax, Sonya and Johnny look to the direction that the flaming skull had come from, they see Shang Tsung, with Megan and Skarlet standing on each side of the sorcerer.
Sonya: “No! Ugh! Damn you sorcerers!” Sonya yells in frustration, now being pissed off with the Shangs.
Jax: “You just now gettin’ fed up with them? I’ve had to deal with them for weeks.” He reminds Sonya.
Sonya: “That’s why I’m fed up with them! Because of what they’ve done to you, them dealing with Kano, the tournament, and just the island as a whole! I swear I can’t get a damn break…” The general breaths.
Johnny: “Yeah. Heh, sometimes I get the feeling like there’s cameras everywhere. Like there’s eyes all around this already weird island, causing you to have the feeling that you're being watched. At first I thought it was just my nerves, combined with just the vibes of the island, causing my horror movie senses to go off as it were, and that the feeling would go away, but the feeling just grows everywhere I go.” Johnny elaborates on Sonya’s point.
Megan: “How perceptive, Earthrealmer. As this is our island, me and Tsung naturally have eyes and ears everywhere, as Jax and Sonya know at this point. As they should also know, yet keep insisting on trying to fight against, you three are not leaving this island. Not unless you die, or win the tournament.”
Shang Tsung: “Which brings us to why we are here in front of you. Cage and Blade have finished their fights, so they are safe until our next round. Jax, fortunately or unfortunately, still has one fight remaining. As you could presume, your final fight will be Skarlet.” The sorcerer gestures to the red-cladded Edenian beside him. Skalret steps forward, ready for her battle with Jax.
Skarlet: “Oh how I’ve waited to enter this tournament! Shao Kahn has always held me back, stating that he wanted to give the others a chance. Once Megan left to work with Shang Tsung, I thought that it would finally be my chance, but he still insisted on focusing on the others. Now, at one of the most important tournaments to date, I finally get my chance. My chance to finally revel in the blood of realmers that I didn’t even know existed!”
Jax: “Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but you won’t be getting your chance this time either. I’d prefer it if my blood and the blood of my friends and realm were in our bodies, thank you.”
Skarlet: “I will get my fill, Earthrealmer! I will prove to Shao Kahn that he was wrong for holding me back for so long!” Despite Skarlet’s speech, she loses to Jax, giving Jax the wins that he needed to move on to the next round to hopefully leave the island once and for all. This loss gets to Skarlet, who turns back to where Megan and Shang Tsung currently were.
Megan: “It’s alright, Skarlet, you still have two more fights. As long as you win those, Shao doesn’t have to know a thing.”
Skarlet: “Thank you, Megan.” She nods before walking off to her room.
Shang Tsung: “Jax on the other hand, has officially completed his matches for this round. You three will now be safe until the next round. I trust to see you three in one piece once the time comes.” The sorcerer confirms. Before anyone can say anything, Megan and Shang Tsung walk away, heading to their quarters as well, the couple finally ready to settle in for the night and get some peace and quiet before the fights resume the following day.

⭐⚡ Story under read more ⚡⭐
We begin Genesis’ events in the aftermath of Armageddon, dead bodies strewn about, on and around a giant pyramid. The camera pans around the sight of large vultures feasting upon the corpses, some of the bodies having recognizable weapons laid near or protruding out of them. As the camera gets closer to the pyramid, we can begin to hear the sounds of a fight coming from the top of the giant structure.
Following these sounds, we see Raiden and his daughter Kami battling Taven. Taven had just defeated Blaze, but when Raiden and Kami went to say their congrats for Taven’s victory, taking their approach of him as them wanting to fight as well.
Raiden: “We mean you no harm, Taven! We only wished to give our congrats on defeating Blaze.”
Taven: “Well, I think it’s a little too late for that, thunder god. Last I saw you, you were mercilessly killing foes and friends alike if they got in your way. Then you want to defeat Blaze for yourself? I don't think so.”
Raiden: “You are right. I was not myself. But if you want things to return to being peaceful and as they should be, you have to trust me, Taven.” Right as Raiden and Kami and about to defeat Taven with a finishing move, Taven is decapitated when he’s hit with a gigantic hammer. The camera then pans to the source, for us to see that Shao Kahn and Kage had snuck up on them.
Kage: “Thank you for weakening him, thunder duo. We couldn't have done it without you.”
Shao: Unfortunately for the two of you, that was the last of the aid that we needed from you. Let’s see if your Elder Gods can help you now!” A fight between the four of them then begins, Raiden and Kami versus Shao Khan and Kage.
Shao: “It feels so peaceful without the Elder Gods’ Mortal Kombat shackles binding me any longer. It felt like an eternity that those worms had their slimy grasp upon me.” The khan recalls, using his anger and relief to drive his hammer against the gods.
Kage: “Now our venom is free to spread wherever we please. It will be the end to all things as you know them. A sort of Armageddon if you will.” Kage smirked evilly, all of her beautiful teeth showing.
Raiden: “I beg of you two, please stop!” He begs as he mutters something into his amulet.
Kage: “When we’re so close to winning? I don’t think so. Consider it done, Raiden. Your time has finally come to pass.”
Shao: “Such time wasted on foolish resistances! People as old as the two of you should’ve learned to live a little! Before it all came to this. Now my rule can truly begin!” Before Shao can continue, Kami interjects.
Kami: “Not if I have anything to say about it, you foul beasts!” The thunder goddess shouts as bright light illuminates from Raiden and Kami’s amulets. The light grows brighter and brighter, which blinds the four kombatants, and through this light Raiden and Kami can see visions of past events, a voice saying “they must win!” ringing out as these visions panned out in the thunder gods’ minds.
Once the bright light fades, we see the two thunder gods standing beside Fujin, Iris, Varian, Andrius, Kung Lao and Liu Kang. Looking around we can see that the group are at Shang Tsung’s Mortal Kombat tournament. As they look around, they can see several familiar faces.
Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Kenshi Takahashi, Nightwolf/Erron Black, Bi-Han, Cyrax, Sektor, Zale, Justus, Spyte, Scorpion, Quan Chi, Reptile, Floyd, Rebellius, Jade, Kitana, Skarlet, Cyrus, Goro, and Kintaro, Megan and Shang Tsung currently no where in sight, despite this being their island and tournament.
Liu Kang: Lord Raiden! What is wrong?”
Fujin: “Are you alright, brother?”
Kung Lao: “Lady Kami, are you ok? You look unwell.”
Iris: “Kami, dearest, do you need anything? Andrius is here if you are feeling ill.”
Varian: “Yeah! Andi can patch you two right up! Right Andrius?” Kami interjects before Andrius can respond.
Kami: “Thank you all, but I think I’ll be fine for now.”
Raiden: “I feel the same here. I just had the strangest visions…” Raiden and Kami then pull out their amulets to see that both of them are cracked.
Andrius: “Raiden, Kami! Your amulets! But we’ve been standing here the entire time! What in the realms is going on?”
Raiden: “It is nothing that you should worry yourself over, Andrius. I believe the tournament is about to start, so let’s divert our attention there for the time being.” The rest of the group nods, listening to Raiden’s words and not wanting to prod any further.
The camera then pans elsewhere, it now following Megan and Shang Tsung, Megan wearing an elegant dark blue dress, heeled boots, and freshly applied lipstick, while Shang Tsung wore a pretty casual looking outfit, at for for his status, Shang Tsung wearing purple pants, a green shirt, black boots, purple leather fingerless gloves, and a black leather jacket with a red and orange Asian dragon design on the back of it.
Shang Tsung stands in the middle of where the Outworld side was standing, between the Edenians, Goro, Kinataro, Quan Chi and Scorpion. Megan goes to stand with the other Edenians so she’s out of the way, but Shang Tsung grabs her gently by the waist and brings Megan to his side. While Megan is surprised by this, she doesn’t complain, appreciating the attention from her lover.
Johnny: “Sheesh! Now how in the world did he manage to pull her?” An Earthrealmer by the name of Johnny Cage mumbles, Megan and Shang Tsung having caught his attention.
Shang Tsung: “Welcome kombatants! I am Shang Tsung, your host of this little tournament! In the coming days, each of you will fight. How many battles each of you participates in fully depends on your strength and stamina. Some of you are here on your own volition. Others are here by chance.” During Shang Tsung’s welcoming speech, Johnny’s eyes drift from where Megan and Shang Tsung stood, to looking around and taking in the surroundings, the actor having never stepped foot outside of Earthrealm up until today. As he looked around, a woman by the name of Sonya Blade happened to catch his eye.
Johnny: “Oh, ho, ho! Hello beautiful. Johnny Cage, at your service~” Johnny mutters softly.
Sonya: “No, thank you Cage…” The soldier declines, somewhat disgusted with a hand raised.
Johnny: “You seriously haven’t heard of me? “Massive Strike”? “Citizen Cage”? “Ninja Mime”? None of those ring a bell?” As Johnny is listing off his movies, Sonya’s eyes land on the person that’s she’s been looking for a while now, and the very reason that she was on this weird and creepy island in the first place.
Sonya: “Kano. And he has his vampire with him…” Sonya mutters, quiet enough for Kano to not hear her.
Johnny: “Kano? Vampires? I believe I was in that one… what was it about again?” Johnny thinks out loud. He then sees where Sonya’s eyes were looking and saw a man with a cybernetic eye and a pale man with black sclera, glowing red irises, and sharp fangs sticking out of his mouth walking to where Megan and Shang Tsung were, going somewhere behind them, Skarlet going with them once she sees them. “Ah, I see.”
Shang Tsung: You all will be participating in one of the most important Mortal Kombat tournaments in history! This tournament is the tenth after nine Outworld victories and will be the one to decide Earthrealm’s fate once and for all. Once you have defeated all of your opponents, you will face one final challenge. Me!”
Johnny: “Wait, so that old man is the final challenge? We don’t even get the option to fight her instead? Sheesh… If this is the storyline we’re sticking with then you might as well give me the award now. Belt? Medal? What even is the reward for winning this tournament anyways?”
Shang Tsung: “Not a chance, Mr. Cage! You will get your reward in time.” The sorcerer spits from behind Johnny. Johnny jumps at the sudden voice behind him, turning to see that sure enough, Shang Tsung was now right behind him, causing Johnny to look confused between where Shang Tsung was and where he currently was right in front of him.
Johnny: “H-How the hell did you-”
Shang Tsung: “A magician never reveals his secrets, Earthrealmer.” Shang Tsung smirks as he walks back to where he was at Megan’s side, putting his arm back around her. “Our first opponent will be Johnny Cage!”
Johnny: “Hell yeah I am!” Johnny yells, ready to show off to everyone, glad that Shang Tsung chose him to go first. “So, sorcerer, who’s my first opponent going to be?” Shang Tsung then leans down to hear Megan’s idea on who Johnny should face first.
Megan: “What about Reptile? He hasn’t fought in a tournament in a while and we have to test him somehow.” She whispers into her husband’s ear. Shang Tsung nods before placing a peck on Megan’s cheek. Megan blushes at this, causing Shang Tsung to smirk.
Shang Tsung: “Your first opponent is Reptile!” A figure then reveals itself on the roof to one of the buildings surrounding where the tournament was taking place, showing the bipedal reptilian, who then jumps down to fight.
Johnny: “Nice stunt and makeup dude! Who’s your agent?”
Reptile: “I serve Megan Shang and Shang Tsung as well as their son. Though you will die before you get the chance to face any of them.”
Johnny: “Wait, they have a kid?” Johnny replies in surprise, looking around the island to see if Reptile was telling the truth. But before the actor can look around for long, he hears Shang Tsung’s voice.
Shang Tsung: “Begin!” The host shouts, officially beginning the Mortal Kombat tournament. Johnny and Reptile begin their fight, Johnny surprisingly coming out victorious despite Reptile’s invisibility and acid spit. The lizard man leaves the stage without a word, not wanting to deal with Megan or Shang Tsung after his defeat.
Johnny: “You just got Caged! Yeah, I'm so awesome! I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down, I’m taking you down!” Johnny flexes as he celebrates his win, going down the front row. “And I'm taking you out on a date~ What do ya say, beautiful?” He says once he gets to Sonya. As this is happening, Raiden’s group minus Raiden himself and Liu Kang quietly laugh at Johnny’s antics, finding the actor to be quite amusing.
Sonya: “Ugh, no thank you. Still not interested.” Before Johnny can reply to Sonya’s remark, Shang Tsung speaks.
Shang Tsung: “Ready for your next opponent, Cage?”
Johnny: “You bet I am, magic man.”
Shang Tsung: “Who should Cage’s next opponent be, my dear?” He asks.
Megan: “Hmmm.” Megan thinks for a moment, her eyes scanning the crowd. “I think seeing Johnny facing that swordsman over there, Kenshi Takahashi I believe it was, could be fun.” Shang Tsung smirks, seeing Megan’s vision, rubbing her waist and placing a kiss on her forehead.
Shang Tsung: “Your next opponent is Kenshi Takahashi.” Shang Tsung announces, the Japanese swordsman walking up to the stage.
Johnny: “Be careful Kenshi, wouldn't want my shine to reflect off of your sword and blind those beautiful brown eyes of yours.”
Kenshi: “Thanks for your concern, Cage, but I'll be fine.”
Johnny: “If ya say so, tattoo.” Despite some large scratches and cuts from Sento, Kenshi’s sword, Johnny comes out victorious. Kenshi bows without saying anything before walking off to where Kano, Justus, and Skarlet had seen walking to previously.
Johnny: “Any more opponents for me, beautiful?” Johnny looks over at Megan with a smirk on his face. This causes Megan to look at her husband, Shang Tsung.
Shang Tsung: “That is all of your opponents for today, Cage. Matches will resume at first light. If you want to fight more then-”
Rebellius: “But I want to fight him now!” A voice from the crowd shouts, a tall, slim, red-haired man with an eyepatch seen walking up to the stage.
Rebellius: “Shouldn’t he be able to fight three opponents like the rest of us? I know you two may want to retire to your quarters, but I’m sure everyone else wouldn’t mind one more fight.”
Megan: “I know you’re a Chaosrealmer, Rebellius, but it is getting rather late.”
Rebellius: “Oh I’m aware of that, starlight, but what’s one more fight? Plus, you heard the man, he said he wanted another opponent, so why not let him face me?”
Shang Tsung: “I will allow it, Rebellius. But only this one fight until tomorrow’s matches.”
Rebellius: “Will do!” The Chaosrealmer booms. “You ready Earthrealmer?” He asks, turning to Johnny.
Johnny: “You better believe I am…uh…what was your name again? Rebellious? Like the word?”
Rebellius: “Exactly like the word, just spelt differently. Just take out the o and you have my name!”
Johnny: “Are all Chaosrealmer names like that? If so, I may need you for naming some of my movies and writing some of my lines.”
Rebellius: “I would be happy to. If you can beat me that is.”
Johnny: “Oh, you’re on! Let the chaos begin!”
Rebellius: “Oh, I am starting to like you already!”
Johnny: “Oh, I knew you would, eyepatch.” After a while of Johnny struggling against Rebellius due to him not being used to fighting a Chaosrealmer, Rebellius decides to go easier on Johnny, allowing for the actor to win.
Johnny: “Hell yeah, baby! Three out of three!” He celebrates, somewhat out of breath. “Thank you for letting me win back there, Rebellius. You could’ve easily tore me to shreds, but you did.”
Rebellius: “Of course. Winning means nothing to me, so while yes, I could’ve easily washed you, I decided to let you win. Earthrealm needs to win more than Chaosrealm does at the moment.”
Raiden: “Rebellius is correct, Johnny. As Shang Tsung said, this is the most important tournament in a long time, especially for the sake of Earthrealm.”
Johnny: “I'm sorry, but who are you? Nice hat.”
Liu Kang: “He is Lord Raiden. Protector of Earthrealm.” Liu Kang spits as the rest of Raiden’s group walks up to Johnny and Rebellius.
Johnny: “Earthrealm? Um, ok. Are you doing some sort of fantasy thing? If you need any acting tips I'd be more than happy to help you out.”
Liu Kang: “It is not a thing, Cage. This is real, and if we don't win this tournament then we are as good as dead.”
Johnny: “Uh yeah, I kind of got that from what Raiden said.” Johnny comments.
Fujin: “Calm yourself, Liu Kang. Johnny is new to Mortal Kombat and all of the realms and people involved. He wasn't raised around it like you were.”
Liu Kang: “My apologies, Lord Fujin. His arrogance got the better of me.”
Kung Lao: “Oh, and did that arrogance remind you of anyone? Is that why you got mad so quickly?”
Iris: “Don’t provoke him, Kung Lao. Save your fighting and provoking for your turns in the tournament.”
Kung Lao: “Yes, Lady Iris.” Kung Lao nods, listening to the doctor’s words.
Johnny: “And where have you three been my entire life~” Johnny flirts, looking over to where Iris had spoken, Kami and Varian being behind her.
Andrius: “Traversing realms and protecting Earthrealm since before you were born” Andrius smirks. This causes Johnny to chuckle a bit.
Johnny: “If you say so emo. Listen, I know you guys probably have your stuff to get back to, and I have a winning streak that I need to be sure to not lose. I am not losing this early into the game. Plus, I kind of want to try and shoot my shot with Sonya a little more if she’ll let me and see if Rebellius wants to train some more…” The actor mumbles the last part.
Fujin: “This tournament is more than just a chance for your personal glory, Johnny. We are here to save Earthrealm and other realms from Shao Kahn’s grasp. The more people we have on our side the better.”
Johnny: “Wait, so me wanting to continue my streak helps you out as well?”
Varian: “As an Earthrealmer, it helps both you and us.” Varian adds. Before anything else can be said, Shang Tsung interrupts.
Shang Tsung: “Now that you’ve had time to think, will you finish your opponent, Mr. Cage?”
Johnny: “Um, finish him how exactly?” Johnny asks, a slight blush on his face.
Megan: “By killing him of course. Don’t worry, he’s a Chaosrealmer, and one of the top ones at that as Rebellius is the current Cleric of Chaos. After his brother Havik passed away and all.”
Varian: “So, Rebellius is Cleric of Chaos now? That explains why no one has seen him…” Varian thinks out loud to herself.
Johnny: “I’m sorry, gorgeous, what? You expect me to kill someone that I just met? Someone that I’ve just started taking a liking to? I don’t care if he can regenerate or not!”
Shang Tsung: “It’s either kill the Chaosrealmer or be disqualified from the tournament. Ending your precious winning streak as well as losing points for Earthrealm.”
Rebellius: “It’s fine Johnny. As you said, I’ll just regenerate, so whatever happens to me, I’ll always come back. It’s typically tradition to kill your opponents in the tournament, especially your last one. The only reason you weren’t expected to kill Reptile or Kenshi is because those were sort of like test runs to see if you were capable. Beating me was a true sign of your strength, so them asking you to kill me is proof that you’re in the tournament now.”
Johnny: “Uh right. While I don’t fully understand, you know more than I do, so I’ll take your word for it, Rebel. See you when you come back.” Johnny waves before “killing” Rebellius, earning his spot in the Shangs’ tournament.
Shang Tsung: “The night shall now commence. Our tournament will resume at first light.” Shang Tsung bows before him and Megan walk off the stage and towards their palace to their quarters for the night. Johnny then goes to where Raiden’s group was, not knowing where else to go after defeating Rebellius and not seeing Sonya.
Raiden: “You did well, Johnny.”
Johnny: “Thanks. Though I’ll admit it was weird having to kill someone. You know, like actually having to kill someone. No special effects or anything.”
Iris: “Yeah, it does take some getting used to.”
Kung Lao: “I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it in no time.”
Andrius: “If you ever need any tips on non lethally finishing opponents, feel free to talk to me. I can also patch you up as well if you need me to.” Andrius offers.
Johnny: “Thanks doc. Having a medical professional on standby can be pretty useful, especially at a place like this one.”
Andrius: “Precisely why I came here. I don’t trust those sorcerers one bit.” Andrius sneers, the plague doctor not liking Shang Tsung in particular, Raiden and the rest of the group leaving Andrius to his conversation (Varian sticking close by to make sure nothing happened to Andrius, her also not trusting the island)
Johnny: “So I take it this is their island? Given what Reptile said, they have a son? Reptile being a servant of sorts for them?”
Andrius: “Syzoth is correct. He serves the Shang family, that family consisting of Shang Tsung, his wife, Megan Shang, originally Megan Verena, and their son, Cyrus Shang. Together the family lives in the giant palace that’s on this island. You probably saw Cyrus when arriving on the island, as he and Syzoth show the kombatants of the tournament to their rooms, Syzoth and Cyrus knowing the island like the back of their hands.”
Johnny: “Come to think of it, yeah, I did see him. He’s the one that led me to my room actually as he wanted my autograph and a selfie. He told me that while he didn’t really care for my movies that much, I was the first and only celebrity that he had met and wanted something to remember the moment.” This causes Andrius to smile, remembering the conversations and interactions that he’s had with the boy.
Andrius: “You didn’t write anything bad on the autograph, did you, Johnny?”
Johnny: “Of course not! Say, did you want to catch up with your friends? I haven’t seen Sonya in a bit, and I want to make sure she’s ok with these weirdos around.”
Andrius: “That’s fine. I’ll see you around, Johnny.”
Johnny: “See ya, Doc!” Andrius then continues to where Raiden and the rest went, Varian following at his side as Johnny went to find Sonya.
I forgot to mention it before (I edited the character list just now), but the Shang Tsung in this as well as the Shang Tsung in the following rewrites (minus MK1) is Cary Tagawa's Shang Tsung. You probably assumed that from the description of his clothing, but I thought I'd mention and confirm it.
