my job at the fancy pool pays really well but idk it makes me so anxious with all of the things they want me to do on top of my job. like I’m fully confident in my ability to save someone as they’re drowning but I’m not a long distance swimmer and apparently they were talking about me in the office because “that new hire looked like she was going to drown during the physical” which is a 300m swim (almost a quarter mile!!!!) and like……….I’m supposed to swim a 500m in my own time once a week which is over a quarter mile and we have in-services once a month and it’s so stressful and I’m afraid they’re going to fire me and it literally keeps me up at night.

like no offense but rich kids swim better because they have access to pools and swim lessons from a young age and guess what!! I’ve never been able to afford either. I can swim but goddamn I’m not on a swim team I’m a lifeguard. I never have to swim more than one length of the pool to do my job well
