VERY offended to discover how hot Temuera Morrison was around 30yo. Can't stop screencapping every micro-expression so I can yell "oh shit that's Fives!" or the like.

It's just that sometimes the Devil shows up in the form of some guy with a lot of time on his hands and an interest in getting himself a fighter jet.

I am functionally new to the Critical Role fandom as of the airing of Episode 1 of CR4 (I'd seen Calamity and briefly dipped my toe into one or two other things, but that was all), so I might be wrong about this, but it's my understanding that Liam playing a cleric in CR4 was widely accepted as the most likely outcome before we learned what the world of Araman was going to be. He was seen as (or maybe said he was at some point?) doing a "core four" thing. Which I find kind of fascinating in light of what Hal turned out to be. The providing space thing is maybe less tied to cleric, but the taking care of others in emotional distress feels like a natural cleric role. And yet I feel like Liam has done some really cool stuff with Bard abilities and charisma to make it feel very natural to a bard. First through his willingness to hand out functionally useless Bardics. He gives one to Thimble as she leaves (which Brennan rewards but which realistically she only has an hour to use), and gives them to NPCs at the end of his scenes with them (both Niveda and Duchess Lisabetta). This gives his Bardics weight beyond their immediate mechanical value. Instead, they make it feel like Hal is always looking to take care of and help those around him. Something we also see in his non-mechanical actions, too. And I love his choice of Enhance Ability as a spell, which feels like a functionally similar. Hal is someone whose version of inspiration is very explicitly about inspiring others to be their best selves. And that feels very much in service of the thematic goals of the character
