I wanted to make a cinematic short film that accurately depicted a portrayal of urban sisterhood through a personal and accurate lens, with a narration that foreshadows the intersectionality of self esteem, self love and cultural appropriation of urban beauty in mainstream media. This marks the 15th music video I've co directed since 2014, and the 7th since the release of the original 1992. This is also the 9th music video i have worked on with my incredible and talented long time collaborator and best friend @milahlibin . As dedicated film makers , we wanted to continue the artistic and highly cinematic tone and motif of sisterhood in the video, even if the song was one of the shorter more playful songs on the album.  Creating a statement of heart warming beauty and empowerment is a goal I try to achieve for each music video I make.. a video that foreshadows the reality of women of color everywhere that tells her story because it deserves to be heard. It doesn’t hurt as much or sting as long like it used to. I trust MYSELF.
