Clancys head was lowered, he felt ashamed, guilty, scared of Torchie’s reaction. And when he looked slightly, hesitantly up he stared right trough Torchie with so much idk like shame? Realisation that he disappointed and hurt Torchie, that he took the wrong path, it hurts him so much, to him it also feels like a betrayal, the sun abandoned him, his hometown is in the dark, so he stops seeing Torchie, the split happens. Now he is Nova and not Clancy anymore. Clancy wakes up in the past in hds again with his memory messed up. With time memories come back but the process is what counts. He has to heal. Blurryface in the next cycle is Nova, because in the past they were the same person. They still are the same person but of different timelines thats why Clancy can hear him. He is his own demon.

If Torchie had taken the robe the cycle would have been broken. But it would have been a very bad end. Bc Clancy/Nova would have become a very toxic and controlling friend. Their friendship would have probably suffered so fkin bad…
