Lux smiles a little as he stops. “Yeah, let’s get some paint and just… paint peoples mailboxes random colours. Why not?”

"Because that sounds stupid."

"I’m—okay… Well, it’s… just let me get you a pillow and some blankets." He gets up to go to his bedroom, the pain on his ankle alleviated now that he took the weight off of it for a little while and comes back with what he offered to bring. "Here. My room will stay open if you… end up getting uncomfortable out here."

He takes the pillow and blanket and props the pillow up at one end of the couch. "Whatever," he says before he kicks his shoes off and lays down, pulling the blanket over his body.

Patrick shrugged. “Alright.” He glanced down at and then back at Isaiah. “It’s From Eden, by Hozier.”

Isaiah nods. "Cool." There's a pause. "I still haven't put that old CD you lent me on my computer."

"Yeah because she felt bad. I don’t give a fuck what beef you have with her but if you say one more bad thing about her, I’m leaving."

"Okay, then leave. I don't give a shit. " He pours what was supposed to Flint's drink into his own glass. "She's a cunt," he says for good measure, before he carries the glass with him toward the hallway where his room is.

"I know she’s a bit pushy but her heart’s in the right place. She was the only one I couldn’t get to leave when Farh died." He grits his teeth, ready to shoot back more until something in his mind clicks. "… Oh my fucking God, you’re the Isaiah that she kissed.”

He grips his glass hard. "She told you about that?" He shakes his head and glares at the wall to his right. "Fucking cunt."

"We can both sleep in my room?"

"I'm good on the couch. Just get out so I can sleep."

"Because I’m not as big as a bitch as you make me out to be." She smiles over at him weakly, wrapping her arms around her chest. "And… I’d feel pretty awful if something bad happened to you."

"I wouldn't feel awful if something bad happened to me." He drinks the vodka in the cup and then starts pouring more. "So you don't need to feel awful. You don't like me anyway. Do you want some?" He offers her his cup.

He doesn’t waver his gaze. “What is your problem with her?”

"She's a huge bitch. I had to do a history project with her and she fucking flaked the day of the presentation. So I did the presentation by myself. And she's nosy. She kept asking me why I act the way I do and when I told her to stop, she continued anyway. And she always fucking treats me like there's something wrong with me. When I say I hate her, I fucking hate her."

"You can…" he sighs, thinking about all the possibilities of sleeping arrangements. "Just, uh, sleep in my bed. I can take the couch."

"What the fuck, no. I'll just sleep here. It's not a big deal."

Flint doesn’t touch the cup, only continues to stare at him seriously. “She’s my best friend.”

"Really?" He looks at Flint now with a lifted brow and he slides his own cup slightly back and forth on the countertop. "That sucks."

"Would you like to listen?" He asked, holding out the speaker for the other to listen to.

Isaiah glances at the speaker distastefully. "No. What's the song again? I'll just look it up."

"You don’t have to… Just… let me sulk about such a loss."

"Um, thanks for hanging out with me today. I really needed it."

"Yeah, whatever," he mumbles, too uncomfortable to say you're welcome or anything like that. "Where am I sleeping?"

"Wait — " Lux isn’t quite sure what she can say to make him stay, but she goes with the first thing that pops into her head. "Wanna go paint people's letterboxes?"

Isaiah stops and turns to look at her. "What the fuck?"

"Sorry, that’s not on the menu. You might as well just give in now, it’s going to happen."

"This is the last time I'll accept a drink from a weird girl." He starts walking away.

Lux shakes her head. “No, honestly, no one is making me do anything,” she tells him. “I don’t know, I thought we could be friends.”

"What if I don't want to be friends with you?"

"But I’m not even forcing anyone to listen… the park is a public place, is it not? They can walk away if they so wish it. I can assure you that I am not a complete idiot. I may be dumb… but definitely not stupid, or an idiot.”

"Dumb, stupid, and idiot are all synonyms so what's your point exactly?"
