• Every time when Ace comes back home after his shifts, Law would randomly surprise him.

• When being freaky (yes, i call it that), Law would tease him with words before physically tease him.

• Law is a morning lark. So if ace wakes up first, it's impossible to get up without law waking up.

• Law and Ace have a lot in common. Though their personalities are the opposite, they have the same interest, hobbies and humour.

• They love clinging at each other, especially at night.

• they both love cooking, like "Trying new types of recipes" type of love.

• Law doesn't say "I love you" Directly. He says it in different ways

I was more enthused about finishing this than I was with the other acelaw fanart I've got that's almost done - I guess it's because this was easier for me? Shading wise. The other is nsfw. ANYWAY! This is Ace proclaiming his love to Law, Law is taken aback by it and by how sweet/cute/handsome Ace looks while doing it ~

About him being over reliant on his DF, most characters heavily rely on their DF. Marco was pretty much defenseless once he was stuck with sea stone cuffs. Crocodile lost to Luffy quite fast once his DF was countered. And Van Augur was impressed by Ace's base fighting abilities during the battle of Banaro, even though he admitted he thought a DF user losing their powers made them worthless. Blackbeard himself aknowedged Ace's strenght, both DF wise and in general, even asking him twice to join his crew.

If we go by the novels, Ace did have haki. Armement at least. There's no information about wether or not he had observation haki, but I'll assume he does, because becoming a division commander under 20 years old is pretty big and testament to his capacities. And I don't think Whitebeard would have approved Ace becoming a division commander without haki.

Then there's Conqueror's Haki, which Ace canonically had. This one is a bit more complex I feel, because Ace was only 10 when he first used it by accident. He did not realise what happened at the time, because his focus was on protecting Luffy, and no one could explain it to him, because no one present knew what it was. And as for why he didn't use it after joining the Whitebeard Pirates... Well he inherited that from Roger so I can see Ace being unwilling to use it.

IchiRuki Ancient Rome AU sketch

I already posted two oneshots set in this AU (Hibiscus and Wildflowers) because I wasn't sure whether I'd manage another multi-chapter thing and I'm doing my best to not start posting this one until it's actually done 😂

But that doesn't mean I can't post a snippet from chapter 3 anyway 👀

Haruta has taught Ace how to weaponize his cuteness and unofficial status as the baby to get what he wants or to get out of trouble. Ace rarely has to utilize it, but when he does, it’s very effective; one time while Fossa is yelling at Ace when he catches him taking his cigars and hiding them in Blamenco’s pockets as a prank, Ace stares at him with big eyes that look ready to burst into tears at any second, looking exactly like the Playboy Penguin* from Bugs Bunny cartoons. Fossa can’t bring himself to get mad at Ace anymore when he looks at him like that, and he forgives him straight away, even when it’s very clear that Ace isn’t actually sorry 😈. The only ones who are truly immune to it are Pops, Marco, and Izo; they’ve gotten that look from Haruta so many times that they’ve become desensitized to it at some point.

Ace is very ignorant when it comes to sexual innuendo. He knows what sex is and how babies are made (Garp gave him The Talk™ when he was 12), but most of the bawdy jokes and sexualized metaphors completely fly over his head. Pops jokingly has to remind them (especially Rakuyo) to tone down their language in front of Ace, especially when they’re drunk, in order to “protect his innocence.” Jozu at one point covers Ace’s ears when the songs and jokes turn very obscene, in spite of Ace’s protests; he hates being infantilized despite being the second division commander.

Ace loves to toast marshmallows and soften chocolate bars on his chest to make s’mores; his Flame-Flame fruit lets him control the heat and intensity of the flames to prevent them from burning the marshmallows to ashes or completely melting the chocolate. Everyone agrees that Ace makes the best s’mores on the Moby Dick.

In retaliation for Thatch assigning him to dishwasher as punishment for switching his hair gel with olive oil, Ace switches his hair gel with glue. Predictably, Thatch’s hands get stuck to his hair, and he spends half the day running around the ship trying to pull his hands out without ripping out his scalp. Finally, Thatch safely frees his hands, but not before pulling off chunks of his hair. Ace is rolling around the floor laughing hysterically, but Thatch and Marco don’t find it funny at all, and Ace finds himself on laundry duty for a week as punishment.

Ace sometimes sleepwalks in the middle of the night, keeping half of the crew up with all the noise he makes. Marco once awoke to Ace chewing on his head during one of his sleepwalks because it resembled a juicy pineapple! It’s gotten so bad that Marco chains him to his bed so he can’t get up and sleepwalk.

Once, the commanders were forced to temporarily share rooms with each other due to renovations to the ship. Ace slept in bed with Atmos, whose snores kept Ace up the whole night; at one point, Atmos rolled over in his sleep and nearly crushed Ace. Ace was slowly suffocating underneath Atmos’ massive weight and couldn’t tell him to move over, so he instinctively set Atmos’ beard on fire to wake him up and get off. Needless to say, Ace got reassigned to share a bed with Haruta.

Ace once drew a huge picture in crayon of himself, Luffy, Sabo, Dadan, Makino, Jinbe, Pops, the other Whitebeard commanders, and a big black “imaginary friend” type monster with glowing red eyes and razor sharp teeth. Pops and the others are understandably concerned about this, until Ace explains that the big black monster is just Garp. Pops has it framed and keeps it on his nightdesk.

Izo teaches Ace how to sew, and Ace uses it to make the cutest little dolls, filled with stuffing and having button eyes and cute little smiles and no noses. He first makes one of himself, Luffy, and Sabo, and sleeps with them every night. He then makes 15 more dolls of himself, along with a doll of all 15 other commanders. He makes sure to capture all the details and features that make the Whitebeard Pirates so unique, like Pops’ mustache, Thatch’s pompadour, Marco’s pineapple head, Izo’s lipstick, Rakuyo’s dreadlocks, Fossa’s cigar. He gives each of them a pair of the dolls as a present; everyone adores them, and while they don’t sleep with them, they keep the dolls on their nightdesks or on top of their dresser drawers.

Older Acelaw, this is kind of like a partner to my previous piece of them sleeping, this is also only half of the entire piece for reasons, dumb reasons but reasons - I'll be posting the full version on Bluesky sometime tomorrow.
