Yes! Eden will have a role

I've been thinking about what Eden could be, and I think I have an idea. I'm thinking that it can either be a garden where specimens were allowed to go into at times in the old location [filament lab]

Or it could be an old sort of housing unit that they put specimens they deemed "safe" but were no longer working on. In this case, it would've got demolished or sold after the destruction of filament lab to get funds for a new lab building.

I'm not extremely attached to either of these ideas, so if anyone has any other ideas for Eden let me know!!

I was thinking about making him some kind of tech guy for a while? BUT I think I have a better idea

So, Jack was the one who welded the iron lung in the movie, right? So I was thinking Jack could be the one who built/set up enclosures in the lab.

Like, he was the one who built the tank that Elli is kept in and made all of the interior for Simon's enclosure and stuff.

okok so this one is a bit hard to explain

She's physcially multible people, but mentally just one.

The only consciousness is Elli; she's the only one mentally in that body. She's the only one that talks, the only one that controls anything.

Physically, the eel is still a fucked up combination of bodies, scientists, other failed experiments, or anyone that the managed to convince to jump in.

It's just Elli, but the body is more than that.

Anyway, does the tank Ellie lives have to be cleaned in a specific way? I would imagine that bloody water would be difficult to deal with, much less keep clean.

They don't clean it.

They once sent someone down with proper swimwear and an oxygen tank, and everything to try and clean it a bit, but they only managed to retrieve his gear. It's assumed that Elli ate him or something. It was put on the paperwork as an "equipment malfunction."

They refresh some of the water at times, but they can only do about a third at a time, and it's hard to get that much bloody water out of a building without causing some kind of suspicion.

Replacing some of the water also means they have to get more blood, and risk the mental and physical well-being of anyone who has to get that close to Elli.

Simon's eyesight hasn't been affected too much on land

He does have clear eyelids that close when he's under water, allowing him to see more clearly!

His eating habits have changed a lot. He's mainly carnivorous, though he would eat other things if it were all that was available. They mainly feed him meat, occasionally giving him other foods to see how he reacts. His usual meals are cooked, though he doesn't seem to react badly to raw meat.

When he's hungry, he tends to go into a sort of hunting mode. They haven't yet tried to see what would happen if they left a live animal, or even a human, in with him while he's hunting.

Dr. Ace, or Dr. Archie, is one of the best and most trusted scientists in the C.O.I.L

Archie is actually my sona that I first made for iron lung, and i decided i had to insert him into this somehow. [His blog is @after-rapture-archie]

The C.O.I took Dr. Ace in long ago. I'm still figuring out how exactly he got to the lab or what they did with him as a child, but he's been there since he was really young.

He was another, arguably more successful, attempt at making an angel.

He has three pairs of wings [similar to the picture at the bottom, but the middle pair are bigger]

I really don't have a set design worked out for him in this universe yet :P

He's the main scientist assigned to Simon, and is working very hard to gain his trust.

I honestly don't have a ton worked out on him cuz im trying to focus on the canon characters first sorryyy

Dr. Ace and Jack [who i havent intorduced yet because I haven't worked out his details] were also once subjects

I'm also open to having ocs be other subjects in future roleplays and things!

Dr. Ava had a very specific goal going into her own experiments.

She wanted to create the equivalent of an Angel, a man-made divine entity.

She started with wings, using DNA from a Harpy Eagle and a Red Tailed Hawk, she mananged to give herself wings.

They aren't at the typical placement you see when people put wings onto humanoid characters; they're closer to the actual center of gravity on a human, meaning they're lower down on the back, about waist-level.

This also caused her feet to form into more bird-like feet, with sharp talons that she has to maintin regularly.

She also has dark grayish-black discoloration on her fingertips, causing them to also look sort of like talons.

Her sight and hearing are extraordinary, though with her scar, that extraordinary sight is only in one eye. She's trying to find a way to fix her other one.

She has to preen her wings regularly, and prefers to do it in private.

She's mainly carnivorous, but will eat other things at times.

Simon does regret it, yes. The only thing stopping him from trying to escape or kill anyone who goes into his enclosure is the slight hope that comes with the C.O.I promising his freedom.

At first, he even contemplated ending his own life, but now he doesn't even know if there was anything he could do that could kill him. Plus, he's scared of the thought of not finding freedom in the afterlife.

I'll make an announcement once rp asks are open!! They might only be open to certain characters at first, but eventually all characters will be available!

I do think I want to re-watch iron lung one or two times before that so I can really get the characters down. So it might be a while, but if you have a certain ask you're thinking of sending, you can go ahead and send it now, and I'll save it until rp asks are open!!

Did those experiments affect his mind in any way? Like, can he still communicate? Does he exhibit more "animalistic" behavior, or is he intelligent like Ellie?

Ooo good question

So the reason Elli is still intelligent is actually due to a different lore thing that I'm keeping secret for now, BUT she does still have some animalistic tendencies. Those are mostly surrounding food, and partially heightend because she's not kept in pure blood, but they're still there

They are much more prominent in Simon though.

He still acts human enough to be understood, but he does definitely have some animalistic habits and instincts.

His vocal communication is the same for the most part; he still speaks English and has normal human speaking patterns, though there was a while there where he had a lisp when he was figuring out his new teeth.

He also still has some of the traits he had before, like reading tone and understanding body language. He can also still speak with different emotional tones and still instinctively has quite a bit of his human body language and other human habits.

But he's definitely different.

His animal habits are also evident around food. He tends to go kind of into "hunting mode" if he gets hungry enough [not that different from humans, I guess]. He's also extremely aggressive when he has food, so they tend to avoid going into his enclosure for at least a few hours after giving him food.

He tends to turn his head when he's listening to something, partially because of his difficulty hearing and partially because of the same kinda instinct that causes animals to turn they're ears towards noises.

He totally growls when he feels threatened, baring teeth and everything.

He has bitten security personnel before! Now they put a muzzle on him if they have to move him to a different room without a sedative.

He gets very sleepy when he's cold, but also gets irritable when he's hot. The temperature in his enclosure is very closely monitored. He's not cold-blooded, but his body struggles to maintain body temperature, so if he gets cold he tries to seek out warmth. He's shown signs of sunbathing behavior when exposed to UV warming lamps.

I kinda wanna make him purr or make some other vocalization when he's content or happy for the fuck of it, but I don't know if that would fit all that well. I'm still deciding.

So i explained that he was in jail, and given a deal to be an experiment in return for eventually earning his freedom

Simon's experiments have mostly been performed by Dr. Ava, or Dr. Ace

I don't have all of the details worked out on what exactly they did to him, but ill explain what he's been turned into now

He's still pretty humanoid for the most part, like you can tell he was a human at one point, but he's pretty fucked up

He has gills on his chest and the sides of his face, the bottom ones barely touching his neck. He has patches of scales on his skin, most prominent on his arms, chest, and back. He has webbed fingers.

His ears are a bit weird? It's hard to explain. The internal structure is still that of a human, but the outside is a bit smaller and deformed. This alters the functionality a bit so he has difficulty hearing at times.

His eyes are pretty much as they were when he was human, but he now has a clear eyelid that closes over them to allow him to see underwater.

He has a big ol' fish tail. He has sharp canine teeth. Uhhhh

That's all I can really think of right now, but I'll eventually make a proper design for him
