Biography
History: So Declan (being his canon self) for those that have not watched the end of the originals is Hayley's boyfriend in the years that she raised Hope without the Mikaelsons. Declan is noted to have taught Hope to drive and cook all their favorites. Though Hayley always had one foot out the door with him and never told him about the supernatural. He learnt about all of that and it was revealed that he is Cami O'Connell's cousin after Hayley's death. Declan is Cami's cousin on his father's side. He is from Dublin, Ireland and moved to New Orleans to get away from his family drama and follow his dream of being a chef after college (and is noted to be great one working out of New Orleans). His family however disapproved of his dreams as a chef, wanting him to be a powerful leader like his father, who is a CEO of many powerful businesses in Dublin. Declan however dislikes his father choices, due to his corrupt nature, believing money can buy anything and the number of affairs he had. After learning about the supernatural, he became the human faction leader in New Orleans just like other members of his family, his uncle Kieran and Cami. He met Aurora during this time post the originals, meeting her after she was saved from the Mikaelson's house. When he learnt about what Hope did, bringing back the dead, he travelled to New Orleans to see if Hayley, along with others had been returned from the dead, leading to them getting trapped. After he got trapped, he briefly remained in Mystic Falls with the plan for him and Aurora to find a place to continue their lives together, however when the other Mikaelson's taking over New Orleans, Declan agreed to not return to the city. They stayed in Mystic Falls, starting a family together. When their children were in school, Aurora's mental health started to effect her and it was agreed that she needed help from psychologists in the hospital in New Orleans. Declan and Aurora agreed to go on a break, while Aurora was in the hospital, and Declan moved to New Orleans to watch over her, leaving the kids at the boarding school. Agreeing that when Aurora was better, they would try and start their relationship again. However, it has now been 10 years since and they have not found their way back to each other. Declan has lived in New Orleans for the last 10 years, becoming mayor during that time.

how do they feel about being trapped in the prison world? Declan has made his peace with it, but there are days that he wonders if he made the right choice not to stop Vincent with deadly force and become a killer. Overall he is happy in the prison world.
where did they live, where do they live now? Before the prison world Declan lived in New Orleans, he then relocated to Mystic Falls to raise his children with his wife and then returned to New Orleans a decade ago.
thoughts on their partners/thoughts on their children? Declan might be divorced but he still loves his ex. It is just a matter of distance and time that has stopped them from getting back together, with Declan wanting Aurora to be better before confusing their relationship and their kids by trying again. Declan no longer plans for it to happen and has considered dating again, but has not acted on it. He however loves his children. He worked hard to keep in contact with them when he moved to New Orleans and his home always had room for them; even more so now that their family home in Mystic Falls is gone.
additional details about their secret? Due to Declan's connection to New Orleans and the human faction, Declan was told by Vincent of the plan to make the prison world. Though he said that he did not approve and disagreed with the choice; the others started to do it behind his back. When he became aware that the spell was being done, Declan managed to find Vincent, one of his friends, and had the chance to kill him to stop the spell. However he hesitated and by the time Hope turned up, it was too late.
