Uzi is VERY loud, but mostly just so she's heard. Not even listened to just HEARD. She grew up just pleading for someone to remember she was there, to remember her name, to see she's someone who can be worth it.
Even if they hear her they don't listen to what she says. They might sigh or jump back or even try to get away, but sometimes they'll laugh (if only at her) and maybe they'll even talk to her too (even if only disappointedly scolding her or them being terrified of her. The rarest of them all is when they'll laugh and say she's being weird and maybe even pat her on the back or shoulder as they call her a kid... It hurts but it hurts so much less than anything else, a stinging hurt that's almost exactly what she craves). She's desperate for any interaction at all no matter how bad it is for her.
But it's also so easy to just fall into the quiet nature, to be so invisible nobody even remembers she's there. To let herself drift and ignore everyone around her the same way they ignore her.
Honestly, she didn't expect to actually talk with N. Well that's a given, she didn't think the murder drones could talk when she went out there. But he didn't just talk over her or ignore her when he did talk— something that amazes her later when she's not freaking out about everything that happened that early morning. He let her talk too, he LISTENED to her. He considered her words. He rebelled because of what she said to him.
It makes her so giddy. She's almost thankful he can't go out into the sun (apparently?) because it means her freak out over it is just hers to deal with. She can go far enough away that any screaming she does into the daylight is just hers to bear.
She still isn't quite used to being the one carrying a conversation, but N isn't... He doesn't want to stop talking but acts like asking questions against her is gonna get him hurt. And she doesn't like that. Maybe any other Worker drone would've been so happy to have this Disassembly Drone terrified at the notion of questioning them, but all she can do is reassure him he's allowed to talk to her. She's not going to hurt him if she is mad.
And... She does get mad. It's her go-to reaction to everything new. She doesn't know how to NOT be mad. And N listens to her about it. She can tell he's still scared of it, of her anger. But she's getting better at not acting on her anger in front of him. And he's understanding she's not going to hurt him.
It's.. a huge change. One she's not prepared for at all. She sometimes forgets he's even listening to her when she talks about the repairs she's doing, or when she notes specific parts or tools she needs, and he'll try to help when he goes out to fetch oil from older kills left behind in the snow. They'll just talk about random things and she finds she is really curious about everything he says too.
She doesn't know what friendship really means, but... She doesn't want to lose N. And she wants to show he's also being listened to.
So she finds out what he really likes, what he dislikes, and finds he loves soft things. And if she spots anything that fits the bill for him, she takes it back for him (never wanting V to see because this felt just... personal? She's never given anyone gifts before that were appreciated. Nobody's given her any gifts either, as far as she can remember).
She just. She panics at the thought of being alone now. She doesn't even know if she's a good friend for him. Or if he's just... Replacing J with her in his mind, someone new he just has to listen to.
