youâre not from around here , are you? i figured because you totally just missed DAVID MATTHEWS walking by . donât tell me you donât know who he / him is ? they kind of look like jeremy allen white and i could be wrong but i think that they might be 33 years old right now . theyâve been living in palmview for the last 5 years and i donât know if anyone has ever told them this before but they kind of remind me of joey tribbiani from friends . if you stick around the town long enough you might catch them in action working at shorefit gym as the personal trainor . you see this town isnât really that big of a place , some folks like to call them the anarchist of palmview ! they took a liking to the name too after a while , go figure . oh crap , they must have heard me yapping , theyâre coming this way . i got to warn you though , rumor has it they can pretty capricious at times . i wouldnât take it too seriously though , from the times iâve spoken to them they seemed pretty jocular to me . we see each other all the time since they live in that one bedroom apartment beside me over in mango bay lofts . i better leave you to it , it was nice meeting you .
david matthews was born to two loving fathers, jacob matthews and tobias matthews in atlanta, georgia. he was born from a private surrogate who david never truly learned the identity of. all he knew was that she had carried him for nine months before handing him over. of course, david was always curious about his birth mother. but he had the devoted love of both his fathers to stop him from ever really thinking about her too much. he was never really searching for anything or anyone because all his emotional needs were filled.
jacob matthews was a best selling thriller author and tobias matthews was a lawyer. david grew up traveling a lot to go to book signings with his dad. but he also grew up sitting in his father's office late at night while he finished work. he saw two very different careers, two very different lives and even from a young age, david knew he was made to be a free spirit. he would never feel fulfilled settling down in a corporate job, he liked to travel too much. going around the country on book sightings, seeing his dad meet so many people and do exciting things was some of his fondest childhood memories.
david knew that he wasn't really the creative time, book writing wouldn't be for him. but he was sociable and really great with talking to people. he'd also been an athlete his whole life. baseball being his main sport of choice, but he also enjoyed track and swimming. he liked to move, to be healthy to get his energy out. it was when he was in high school that he got super into working out. it was more than a chore for him, it was a hobby. he liked the science behind it, learning about muscles and nerves and the body. david had never really been the academic type, but for this he spent hours of his own time studying.
when he went to college in nashville, he decided to study sports and psychology. he wanted to be a sports therapist. maybe start his own company, make it go global. and he was good at it, he was always in the top end of grades and he had clear enthusiasm.
he graduated with honors and soon was arranging to move back home and start working towards his goals. his dad, jacob, came to pick him up and drive him back home again. he was excited to see his son back with them and see him fulfil his potential. but on the way back, they were listening to nothing but a good time by poison and singing along when a truck ran a red light at hit them drivers side on.
david sustained injuries that with physical therapy he overcame. but his father wasn't so lucky. he never made it.
david was devastated by the loss of his dad. he had never felt so alone, so confused. he knew he wouldn't be able to move home, not when his dad haunted so much of it. he had to run away, to escape, to feed his travel bug. he started off in new york city, then tried out chicago, michigan, dc, nevada, california. it always started the same, him building up his personal training clientele and ended the same, with him not feeling fulfilled and moving on to the next place.
florida is still new for david, having only been there six months. he found it exciting and adventurous. his jokester nature and people skills helped him make friends easily and he loved the town, his apartment, the gym where he worked. but the struggle of fulfilment was still eating away a huge hole inside of him. he just didn't know how to stop running away and start running towards.
