Original source Image description: Illustration from the 1824-1844 French publication “Voyage autour du monde” depicting two detailed eels. The top eel has a dark, mottled brown pattern, a curved body, and an open mouth showing sharp teeth. The bottom eel is lighter brown with white spots, also curved with a visible open mouth and teeth. Both are shown in side profile against a plain background, labeled “Murène Prat-Bernon” and “Murène Pintade,” indicative of species identification. The scientific and artistic style is typical of early 19th-century natural history prints.
