Walton Goggins in another interview regarding episode 5.

The Ghoul cares about Lucy.

In 200 years he's never cared about anyone else except his family, but Lucy comes along and suddenly when he's faced with keeping his family safe or a chance to see them again, it doesn't feel right to do what he does.

He doesn't WANT to do this. And it breaks his heart.

But this has been his goal for 200 years so of course he's going to do whatever it takes to find them. He just didn't anticipate getting so attached to her 😭

How powerful must their connection be for him to change and redeem his human side in this way?!
